3)
I went into my office to get the documents prepared, and on my way out to meet Mr. Ian, Aaron walks in with him.
"Miss Samantha, there's no need to come to my office, I brought Mr. Diaz with you to finalize the deal,"
He tells me and smiles.
I placed the documents on top of my table, when Mr. Ian takes his leave, right after suggesting I take over the deal, and as much as I wouldn't want that, I had no choice but to accept.
Aaron walks to the empty chair facing my glass table and sat on it.
While I contemplated not having my mistake seat at the same office with me, I stared out the window, definitely holding the thought of jumping out of it.
I opened the documents and passed them to him, my mouth sealed by my hands hit on the spot he needed to have his signature on.
He takes out his pen and signs on it.
I closed back the document and kept it in my file cabinet, Dalton's photo was on top of my table, and I swiveled back, I see Aaron gazing at it.
"Handsome kid,"
He tells.
I grab the photo harshly away from me and put it back down on the table.
"Thank you," I answered back.
He smiles and gets up to leave, I watched him do that when suddenly he hesitated.
"Samantha, tell me something,
He came back, "Is that your son,?".
I look at Aaron's face glaring at mine.
What do I say?
He gave no heads up about wanting to ask such a question, I too had no choice but, to tell the truth.
"Yes, he is my son,". I said back.
Perhaps he has the feeling Dalton might be his son too.
No! He cannot find out.
I got up from my chair, grabbed my bag, and calmly asked him to leave, at first, he didn't want to but seeing the look on my face, he had no choice but to oblige.
I lied I had another meeting to go to, it was leverage to keep hiding the truth, of what happened seven years ago.
Dalton can't find out about his father, whereas Aaron cannot find out about his son.
A few hours later, I got back home exhausted from work, I went through Dalton's room and saw he was fast asleep, and mom was too, as I walked over to mine, I get ready for bed.
I pulled my blankets over my head, and when a call from an unknown number came, I picked up beholding a familiar voice at the other end.
"Hello Sam, it's me,"
Aaron expressed.
I looked again and saw he called with a whole different number since I blocked his previous number from coming in.
"Hello Aaron, why are you calling?"
I got irritated at him.
"Nothing, but they're something I need to ask you?"
He announced, holding me at the other end of the call.
"Sure, what is it?"
I gave him an audience.
I wouldn't have suspected Aaron's question was going to be about Dalton.
But he did.
"Is Dalton, my son,?"
He asked.
Of cause he was, but I won't give him the pleasure of hearing me say it.
"No, he isn't," I lied, " now get the fuck off my phone,".
I told him an untruth and immediately disconnected the call, I also obstructed his number from calling again.
I hope he never gets to call, and the more I keep my distance, the faster he disappears from my life.
....
Aaron's is a bad memory I will love to get out of my head.
