Chapter Sixty- Four

Christmas day.

The hardest day for Hannah.

She hadn't seen Alytain since she lied about the twins. She hadn't allowed him to see their kids since she lied about the twins.

It was family tradition to spend it together, Hannah was breaking that tradition.

The twins had taken all her energy, she was thankful to have Channing and her dad by her side. She was thankful that Harley and Meredith were eager to be big brother and big sister as they attempted to help when they were allowed.

Hannah placed Delica down in her rocker, James was asleep in his. Both twins oblivious to the day.

"Merry Christmas, Sweetie." Bill kissed his daughter's cheek.

"Merry Christmas, dad." Hannah beamed.

She had made Bill promise that there'd be no talk of Alytain today, she didn't want to deal with it. She hadn't told her father about the lie, but she knew with her lie being all over the media, he would've figured it out by now.

Harley and Meredith bounced into the lounge room; their eager young hearts loved Christmas. Hannah had made sure Christmas was the time her kids would be allowed to go crazy.

Channing was about to experience something new.

Bill sat down next to his daughter as Harley and Meredith got comfortable on the floor. He could see there wasn't the insane amount of presents that his grandchildren were used to but there was certainly enough to show fullness under the tree.

Channing sat down on the other side of Hannah.

"You don't need to wait for us." Hannah loved that she could say that.

Harley and Meredith ripped into the presents that were labelled with their names, they screamed with excitement, with amazement, with aww and with yes! I got it! as they ripped each present open.

It was almost as if the presents being unwrapped had become a blur as Meredith and Harley left their discarded wrapping paper over the floor, their eyes widen at each of their new items.

Harley was excited to see more gear for his camera, he was excited to give it all a good use.

Meredith was starting to edge away from innocent little toys to fighting with her brother over technology, she couldn't believe that she had gotten her own laptop, her own camera, her own phone.

Meredith lifted up her head "Can I ring dad?"

"How about later." Bill stated before Hannah had a chance.

"When we're done, okay?" Hannah was thankful her dad answered.

Meredith nodded.

"There's one for you, mum?" Harley noticed a small, wrapped box under the tree.

"That's from me, would you like to pass it to me. Harley?"

Harley nodded slightly as he leaned carefully to reach for Hannah's present.

"Sorry, Bill for not getting you anything. Hannah hadn't told me exactly what you liked." Channing apologised.

"It's okay, seeing the grandkids is the best present I get every year." Bill smiled.

Hannah watched Channing as he carefully held the small present in his hand.

Bill knew what was going to happen, He had spoken in lengths with Channing. Bill was conflicted about the idea; he knew he wanted his daughter to be happy but is lies happy?

Everyone in the lounge room; expect for the twins, watched Channing carefully shift his way around the discarded wrapping paper as he knelt down in front of Hannah.

Hannah's face dropped, she sensed what was going to happen. She needed to say no, she NEEDED to say no.

"Hannah." Channing felt nervous "Hannah, getting to know you and be with you, getting to know your children and being allowed to step up to a father figure in their eyes over the past twenty-one months has been amazing. Having my kids." He looked to the twins; he noticed their eyes open as he smiled before shifting his gaze to Hannah "It feels like a pinch me moment."

Hannah swallowed hard.

"I did get permission from your father, but he said it was your decision. He had no say."

Hannah tried to hide her uncomfortable smile as she shifted her glance to Bill before looking back at Channing.

"This present is for you; I would like you to unwrap it." He handed her the small, wrapped box.

Hannah glanced down at the present in her hand, she knew it's shape all too well. She assumed what would be in the box, she had been given countless boxes similar to it over her years with Alytain.

With caution, Hannah began to strip away the wrapping paper.

She looked at the ring box in her hand.

Hannah swallowed hard; she didn't want to look at Channing.

Channing watched as Hannah took caution with opening the ring box, he watched as her face froze. Had he made the wrong decision? Was he about to regret his question?

"Hannah Rose Winchester, Would you marry me?"

It was as if the whole room had frozen. It was as if Hannah had the spotlight on her face as she processed what was happening to her.

Hannah felt like she was on stage, she felt like she was being proposed to by Alytain. She tried not to compare the two proposals, she tried not to think too long but her mind refused to let her find an answer.

Bill could see confliction easily written over his daughter's face as Channing's heart raced.

Hannah managed a smile, she managed to find a word. Was it the right word that she should've spoken "Yes." She breathed.

Bill pretended to find a spark of congratulations in his body as he watched Channing slip the ring onto Hannah's finger, Bill watched as Channing knelt up and kissed Hannah's lips.
