Chapter Sixty
"So, the kids are with Alytain." It wasn't a question; it was never a question when Bill stated his words about the kids with their father.
Hannah uncomfortably nodded; she shifted her gaze to Channing as he walked into the kitchen.
"And?"
"And what?" Hannah asked.
Bill stared at his daughter.
"Nothing." Hannah sensed what he was talking about.
"The twins?"
"Are fine." Hannah tried to sound positive about her pregnancy "This one has been a lot different, less stressful." She chose her words carefully.
"Bill, would you like a cuppa?" Channing asked.
Bill shifted his glance to Channing "Thanks but I'm good."
Channing nodded slightly before making himself a coffee.
"Han, would you like something?"
"I'm good." Hannah didn't shift her glance away from her dad.
Channing sensed something was happening between father and daughter, he tried to make his cup of coffee as quickly as possible.
Bill returned his gaze to Hannah "What's going to happen?"
Hannah sighed a little "Nothing. Things won't go back to the way they once were." She lowered her gaze down to the top of the table "I have a guy who loves me, a guy who won't leave with little notice, a guy whose not forcing me to jet set. Channing encourages me to rest." She looked up at her dad.
Channing smiled a little at Hannah's words as he poured the hot water into his mug.
Bill could hear the truth in Hannah's words, he could see she was happier with Channing, she was relaxed with Channing but both Bill and Hannah knew the truth, they knew that Hannah was putting herself into a hole that she was going to struggle to get out of.
"And Alytain?"
Hannah listened to Channing place the kettle down, he stirred his coffee before placing his spoon in the sink and quietly walking out of the kitchen.
Hannah sighed as she lowered her gaze again.
"Hannah."
Hannah lifted her gaze up to her dad.
"Hannah."
Hannah dropped her gaze again.
"Hannah."
"I know, dad. Don't you think I know." Hannah leaned back in her chair as she lifted her gaze to her dad's disappointed face "I'm talking to Oliver; he and I are working something out."
"Have the two of them meet?"
"Who? Oh." Hannah came to a realisation before shaking her head "The less they know the better."
Bill shook his head slightly "Hannah. This mess you've created."
"It'll be sorted."
"How?"
Hannah shrugged a little, she was attempting to figure something out.
