"I didn't just love my sister, Alana, I was in love with her. That's why I couldn't stand the thought of that pig touching her. You remind me of her in some ways, but you are also stronger than she ever was. You are also more selfless then she ever was.

"I loved her, but I wasn't blind to her faults. But no matter, she didn't deserve to be sold to that pig just so my parents could have more money. They had sufficient, they would have had more if they didn't spend so lavishly, but they were of the mindset that they could never have enough. They sold my other sisters as well, made good connections for themselves in the doing of it. At least those husbands were good ones and would and did take care of them." Chronos sneers before continuing.

"At least that's what I thought until I found out that they would be getting a portion of the extravagant payment for Persephone being sold. That's why even my brothers-in-law were pushing for the marriage.

"If they hadn't then I would have spared them and not left their children orphans. I knew that their grandparents would take care of them and so I didn't worry about them after I finished destroying my family and that of the pig.

"We left, and I never looked back. Neither did Persephone, we went with father here, and started our new lives."

"Persephone, as my mistress, and Chronos, as my guard, we moved around some. I kept in contact with my other children, but I always kept my newborn children near until I was sure that they were ready to be on their own. Since we no longer aged we wouldn't be able to stay in any area for more than a few years." Jeffrey picked up the story.

"Persephone, had more than earned a bonus and she wished to give me children. I knew the real reason was so that she could also give Chronos, here, children, but she would have to give me at least one child first.

"Both of them had more than earned that so I allowed her to have my child. She ended up having twins, Apollo and Athena Artemis. That left her free to give Chronos children as well, and she did."

Alana stares in shock at both Jeffrey and Chronos. Not that Chronos and Persephone had children, but that both Jeffrey and Chronos had children. She didn't think that Jeffrey had had any other children since his human children were slaughtered.

Jeffrey smiles sadly at her expression. "Persephone is the only person that I ever had children with as a vampire."

"Something happened, what was it?" Alana finally manages to ask once the silence becomes oppressive.

"Persephone had given father several children and myself several as well. She was pregnant with my twins when we were attacked. Well the city where we were living was attacked by rogue vampires. Father's grandchildren from his first children. They didn't much care what their children did. They were rather careless. That ended that night." Chronos says, but his voice is monotone and his eyes are dead as he tells Alana those horrid words.

"Chronos and I were forced to leave Persephone's side. We were the only ones able to actually fight the vampires. By the time we ended the rogue vampires and returned to Persephone, it was too late. Persephone was dead due to complications during the birth of her children and all of Chronos's children were killed by the rogues. All but my oldest by her were also killed.

"We made sure to bury our dead, then we went after the makers of the rogues and taught them a final reason for taking care of their children and not being so careless. Of course, they didn't survive the lesson." Jeffrey was more than a little angry at this. It didn't need to end the way it did. If his oldest children had followed his rules and made sure that their children had done the same, then Chronos wouldn't have gone so dark. His children and Chronos's children wouldn't have died. He might have even been able to save Persephone as well.

There is silence in the room as Alana absorbs the story they told her. She aches for Chronos and Jeffrey and their loss.

She goes to Chronos and enfolds the vampire into her arms and just holds him. Chronos startles at her actions and has to fight his natural inclination to throw her off of him. Soon he settles down and accepts her embrace. Then he does something he hasn't done since he became a vampire, he starts to cry.

Jeffrey stares at his oldest child in astonishment then turns his gaze to his wife. He had known that Chronos needed to let out his feelings but hadn't been able to get him to do so. Then Alana does so almost immediately. He shakes his head as he smiles.

After some time Alana pulls back, "No words can be said. I know that I have no clue as to the pain you felt. I honestly can't even imagine it, how painful it must have been for you, for you both.

"I am sorry that I asked for you to tell me and made you remember such pain." Alana gives Chronos one more hug then leaves him and goes to Jeffrey and does the same.

"I'm such an idiot. I won't ask about your past any more, Jeffrey. I'm sorry." Alana says before he catches her to him and just holds her.

"No, you needed to know since Apollo and Artemis will be here soon. I actually think they might cause some problems so you needed to be prepared." Jeffrey tells her after holding her to him extra tight.

"So what's with the Greek god names on all of you?" Alana asks the question that's been bugging her since she met Chronos. Especially once she heard about Persephone.

Chronos rolls his eyes. "That's my parents. They thought it would be a way to honor the gods, by naming us after them. I was first so I was the father of the gods. I had a brother, Zeus, Poseidon, Hades, Thanatos and the youngest male was Hermes. My sisters were Gia, Hera, Aphrodite and Demetria then lastly Persephone.

"Persephone insisted on keeping up the tradition and named all the kids after one of the pantheon. I have no idea why. She hated her own name."

"I insisted on Athena Artemis when she named my oldest daughter. She was less than pleased since she planned on using Athena on another child if she had another female. But since she was my servant she had no choice." Alana saw the smile on Jeffrey's face and it was not a kind one. She suspects that Jeffrey wasn't all that big a fan of Persephone and his pain was that of losing his biological children.

"How were the children killed, I'm sorry, I shouldn't ask, but it would seem that they would be able to fight the vampires as well."

"The half vampires, dhampir, have many traits similar to vampires with less of the problems, but they aren't as naturally quick. The children also weren't as well trained in fighting. They were told to stay home, but they left and tried to engage the vampires to stop them. They actually managed to save some of the humans because of that, but almost all of them died because of it." Jeffrey replies monotone. He loved his children and it was like losing his first children all over again.

"So Apollo and Athena Artemis followed orders?"

Chronos laughs bitterly at that. "The day when those two follow orders is the day vampires learn to fly.

"No, they didn't engage the enemy vampires because they were out of town. They came back the following week and found almost their entire family dead. It hit them hard. They were especially close to their mother." Chronos looks at Alana when he says that and she knows that they aren't going to like her at all.
