"My name is Jeffrey Masters. I'm your husband of just a couple of weeks, I'm sorry to say. This is Clara Matthews your grandmother and this is Michael Jensen."
Alana looks at the incredibly sexy man claiming to be her husband and says the only thing that pops into her mind. "You regret marrying me?"
Jeffrey looks startled at her words, then confused, "No, what made you think that?"
"Might be the words you used, idiot. You told her that you were sorry to say that you were married." The woman, Clara Matthews that claims to be her grandmother, although she didn't look old enough to be one tells him acidly.
Jeffrey closes his eyes, sighs gives Alana a sad smile, "Forgive me, Alana, that wasn't the impression I meant to give. I'm sorry, what I meant to say was that I'm sorry this happened to you and it's more or less my fault that you are here. It was my fault that you were angry with me and left. I had hoped that you would come home on your own, but then Clara found the report of you having amnesia here.
"I have had people out looking for you, just to make sure that you were okay, but you were like a ghost and they couldn't find any trace of you until the accident.
"I'll understand if you don't wish to come home again. I'll take full responsibility for you having reason to leave me. There are things you need to know, but I can't tell you here. If you come home with me now and then wish to leave after packing some of your things and going to live with your grandmother, at least for a short time, then I'll allow you to do that without any problems from me."
Alana studies the man before her and feels the defeat in him. He doesn't expect her to go with him, but wants her to do so very much. The fact that he's taking responsibility for whatever happened when he didn't need to earns him a great deal of respect.
She looks over at the doctor that has been caring for her since she was brought in. "Doctor, am I well enough to be discharged?" She has a persistent headache, but she doesn't tell the doctor that. She doesn't like being hyped up on drugs, so she just lives with the pain.
The doctor thinks about it, "As long as you follow Dr. Masters orders in regard to your health, yes. I'll release you to your husband's care, just take it easy. Are you sure that you are comfortable going with them?"
Alana gives the doctor a warm smile, "Yes, Doctor, I'm comfortable going with them. I think that my grandmother would love any excuse to flay my husband. I don't think there will be any problems." She speaks the truth, but it's not her husband that she wishes to be near at this time.
Almost as if he heard her thought Jeffrey moves out of the way and Michael moves forward. A pain that she hadn't even realized was there was now eased and she could breathe easier. "I brought you some things to change into, my lady." Michael says as he places a small suitcase on her bed. He is rather surprised to be pulled into her arms and given a hug. His shock doesn't last long and is shortly hugging her back, sighing in relief as he does so.
"Well, it seems that she remembers you at least Michael." Jeffrey says with humor and a smile, but there is pain in his eyes.
The doctor leaves the room to prepare the discharge papers. "Go help your mistress get ready, Michael. I don't think she would appreciate my help and she hasn't given her grandmother a hug yet."
"Yes, master." Michael says once Alana releases him from the hug. He walks at her side ready to help her if she needs it.
"I've set a ward around the hospital to warn us if any of the tainted or other demon kin come in. We need to hurry, something in me says that it won't belong before some of them try to come for her." Clara tells him softly enough that no one that tried to overhear them could.
"We'll leave just as soon as the doctor finishes discharging her and Alana and Michael are ready to go. Once we get to the house, there are a few things that I want to show her, then if she wishes you can take her with you."
Clara narrows her eyes at Jeffrey's words, "You aren't going to force her to stay until you get her forgiveness?"
"I won't make her stay, period. I have some things to tell her, some things to show her, and then it will be up to her if she leaves with you. If she does, then you'll need to stay with her and teach her full time how to use her abilities. If she's forgotten everything she's learned you'll need to start over. When I go against the prince, she'll need someone there to help her if I don't make it."
"Your best chance of surviving him would be to learn how to use those abilities yourself."
Jeffrey smiles sadly, "Yes, but if she goes with you, she will need you far more than I will. I can at least muddle through how to use them. It's slower and not as efficient, but it will have to do. You must protect her, if she comes to harm then we are all lost."
"If you fall we are all lost. You aren't replaceable either."
Jeffrey gives her a bitter sniff, "No one is irreplaceable. There will be another that will be able to fight. With out Alana to bare him children it will give others a chance to build up. Chronos training under the angels should become strong enough."
"Chronos? You have got to be kidding me! He hates being around the angels even more than you do."
"Yes, and for good reason, too. But if it comes down to training with the angels and killing the prince or not and all of the world falling to the prince, he'll train and suck it up."
Clara looks at Jeffrey with skepticism, "You have far more faith in your child than I do. Let's just hope that it never comes to the point where I have to find out if I am wrong or not." Just as she finishes Alana comes out of the bathroom changed into some of the clothes from home and the doctor comes back in with the discharge papers.
After talking with Alana and then Jeffrey the doctor tells that they are free to go now and gives one last warning to take things easy.
The four take no further time and head out of the hospital. "Jeffrey, my ward has just been breached."
They head into a supply room and Jeffrey has Clara do her spell and shortly they are once more back in Jeffrey's home. He had his wards modified to allow Clara to enter directly into his home once he found out that she was Alana's grandmother.
Alana sags in his arms. "Alana? What's wrong?"
"It hurts, Jeffrey," Alana says tears coming to her eyes. Jeffrey feels the pain in his own head and takes action. Without thinking he orders her to drink as he bites his wrist and offers her his blood. She gives him a nasty look but takes his bloody arm and starts drinking. After a few swallows she lets his arm go and stands straighter.
"What the hell was that? How the hell did we get here?" Alana demands once she no longer feels the pain of her headache, or any other pain either.
Jeffrey sighs, "Please, follow me and I'll explain everything. If once you know everything, and I've shown you what I need to, if you wish you can leave with Clara." Alana narrows her eyes but finally nods. As long as he does answer her questions she'll wait.
