For hours Chronos stays by Jeffrey's beside hoping that he'll wake up. Finally after several hours he does. But not before Chronos receives some disturbing reports. It won't be much longer before the prince makes his move and if Jeffrey isn't ready to face the prince then they all might not survive.

Chronos needs to let off some anger and he knows just who he'll take it out on. The one that caused so much of the recent problems. He leaves strict instructions with Jay and Michael to come and get him if Jeffrey even stirs. They both promise him that they will. They have heard the rumors of what he's done to punish Malia and they have no wish to have even a slight bit of that punishment.

Malia is a crying mess by the time Chronos is done punishing her and she begs for him to tell her what she did to deserve the pain. "Jeffrey is unconscious because Alana was hurt. Possibly taken by the prince once more because she wasn't here where she was safe. Her being hurt and Jeffrey feeling the same is because of you and your machinations. Nothing I can do to you will make up for the harm you caused father and mother."

"She's not our mother," Malia weeps out.

"She married father, so yes, that makes her our mother. How can you not grasp such a simple concept?"

"She had nothing to do with our making, only father did."

"Yet, she is his chosen wife, therefore she is our mother as he is our father and deserves our respect and allegiance just as he does. How could you put father into such danger when he was going to fight his most dangerous foe ever?"

"I hadn't intended on things going like this. I didn't understand about their marriage. I thought he would easily be able to get a divorce. I thought I could get him to marry me."

Chronos starts laughing, truly amused. "He's had the greatest beauties in history in his bed. He's even cared for some of them but he's never wanted to marry any of them. He did make some of them his mistresses though. He might have made you that, if Alana would allow him too. If she did you wouldn't be allowed to live here though, that was part of the marriage agreement. He would not have his mistress live here."

Malia looks at Chronos in disbelief, "She actually said that?"

"Mmm, she said that she wouldn't feel respected with him having his mistress living here. He promised her that he wouldn't have his mistress live here and that he likely won't take one. She then mentioned you specifically and he promised that you weren't his mistress. You made him out to be a liar, Malia, by telling all the servants that you were. Father takes his honor very seriously and you made it so that he broke his promise to her. You betrayed him. He takes that serious as well.

"You better hope that he is back in top form by the time the prince attacks or we are all dead. Jeffrey is not only our best chance but the best chance of all supernaturals and humans to survive."

"That wasn't my intentions at all." Malia cries even as her wounds are healing.

"No, but it's what happened. Better hope that Alana survived whatever happened to her and we are able to find her before the prince does or we could all die."

Just then there is a knock on his door. Opening it Michael gives his a low voiced message. Chronos leaves the crying vampire collapsed on the floor and leaves with Michael. He shuts the door and all light is gone in the room, just the sounds of crying are then heard.

Chronos hurries back to Jeffrey and Alana's bedroom. He hopes that he makes it in time before Jeffrey wakes up.

"Alana!" Jeffrey wakes crying out.

Distantly they hear knocking at the door. They all ignore it knowing that a servant will open it.

"I'm here father. Is Alana alive?"

It takes a moment for Jeffrey to focus on his oldest child. Then another minute or so to process what Chronos said before he could answer him. "Yes, but she is hurt. I believe that she was taken to a hospital."

"Well that's better news  than I had hoped for." the Hag says coming into the room uninvited.

"I was talking to her through telepathy when she suddenly stopped. I had no idea what happened to her. I just hoped that she wasn't dead."

"You knew where she was." Jeffrey does his best to keep the anger and jealousy out of his voice.

"I knew where I left her. I had a tracking spell on her so I could find her again, but I was afraid I would only find her body. At least now I know that she isn't dead. But she was terrified. She managed to tell me that she found demon tainted and she was afraid that they saw her. She was so scared I could hardly understand her. Then she suddenly went silent."

"So that was why she was so scared. I could feel her terror, but I didn't know why. Then pain. I can feel her, but it's kinda muzzy right now. I'm hoping it's because of pain medicine and not because she's been taken and drugged by them."

"One way to find out," the hag says as she comes further into the room.

"Yeah, you could find her and check on her." Jeffrey says and lies back on the bed ignoring the nasty look he's getting from the Hag.

"If they spotted her and they know she's in the hospital they'll come after her there and she'll be helpless."

"She doesn't want to have anything to do with me, Hag. She made that clear as she left here. I still haven't figured out a way to get her to forgive me."

"Well, one way would be to ask her." The hag isn't happy about how low key Jeffrey is being.

"I'm sorry, Hag, I truly am, but until I can figure out how to get her to forgive me or you tell me that she is actually in direct danger, I have to stay here. If you tell me otherwise then I'll get her and bring her back here and spend the rest of my life trying to earn her forgiveness or until she leaves on her own."

The hag is less than pleased by his words and leaves the room in a huff.

"Are you really going to let this chance to find mother go, father?" Chronos asks incredulously.

"Only for a couple of days or until she comes back to tell me otherwise, yes. I need to know if she gets any better. If she does then she's better off where she is."

Chronos leaves his father shaking his head as he does so. They finally have a real chance of finding Alana and his father isn't jumping on that chance.
