The hag walks over to Jeffrey and makes a small gesture that the others can't see. "There, now we can talk and the others won't hear what I have to say.
"You need to get your house in fucking order, Jeffrey. What that bitch has done has undermined not just Alana's authority in this house, but also yours. That alone could cause you to fail, but not just that," the hag smiles and it makes Jeffrey's blood run cold.
"I'm making you a promise, right here, right now. If my granddaughter is killed before you or anything like that, as soon as you kill the prince I'll come after you.
"I don't know what game you were playing at, but Alana was an innocent. Completely innocent and you've now made it so that she doesn't trust. You've taken that away from her."
"You and the angels assured me that she was a virgin, but during the consummation I found that she wasn't." Jeffrey hisses in anger back at her.
The hag looks at Jeffrey astonished. "That's why you've been treating Alana like dirt? She had no memory so she didn't make that claim, yet you didn't believe the angels or me. So why didn't you take it out on me or the angels? You took it out on the one that couldn't defend herself in any way, she had no idea what was going on."
The hag is angry, beyond angry with Jeffrey at this point. "Alana had cancer when she was twelve. Cervicle cancer, they were able to operate and remove all the cancer cells, but in so doing they also removed the hymen. She's never been touched by man until you did. She damn near died from the cancer and treatments afterwards. Then a couple of years later she relapsed and again almost died.
"That time they had to remove one of her ovaries. So her chances of getting pregnant became much lower. If it hadn't been for the wedding gift bestowed on her, the chances of her ever having children was slight to none.
"I would have told you if I thought that it would make that much of a difference to you or if you had come to me. Instead, you took out your anger on someone that couldn't even remember her life before she came here. You are a fool and an idiot. I thought I could trust you to protect and care for Alana, but I was wrong." The hag makes another gesture and their private discussion was no longer private.
"We'll be leaving now, Jeffrey."
"NO, please wait. I cannot make up for my actions of this past week," Jeffrey is sickened by all that he found out. He also realizes that Malia had messed with his feelings and made his react worse than he would have. He's not even sure why he told Malia what he did about Alana. He's never done something like that before. "I cannot make up for it, but you can watch as I discipline those that have made things so hostile towards you. Please, remain for that at least."
The hag looks from Jeffrey to Alana before finally nodding. "Very well, we will remain long enough to do that."
"I am sorry, Alana. You are right, you didn't deserve how I treated you this last week. I don't know how or when, but I will do my best to regain the trust you've lost in me and get your forgiveness."
"I don't see how, Jeffrey. Since I'll be leaving here and you won't know where I'm at and grandmother won't tell you, she promised me. I'm giving you the freedom you wished, I don't know why you would bother to find me."
The hag shakes her head when Jeffrey goes to speak to Alana once more. So instead he directs his words to Chronos, "Gather the servants and pull forward the ones that you've already punished." Chronos nods and goes to leave, but Jeffrey goes to him and speaks softly in his ear, his words too low for any of the humans to hear.
Chronos gets a nasty little smile on his face, "I would be happy to do that for you, father."
"Good, then summon that bitch Malia as well." Jeffrey says and Chronos is happy to comply. He leaves the room and starts gathering the people as Jeffrey had requested.
"So you are actually going to punish your mistress? That will be a shock to her, she thought that she had you so wrapped around her finger that she could get away with anything towards me."
"Alana, I don't know how to apologize enough. I am sorry. Sorry for how I've treated you this past week, how I've been blind to how my servants have treated you but most of all, that Malia has been behind it all."
"I don't understand how Malia could be behind it all, you are after all her father, her maker or whatever you call it. You are in charge of her, not the other way around." Alana's words are sharp and unforgiving and make Jeffrey want to wince at their bitterness.
"You are right. I am, I'm not sure just how she did it, likely one of her abilities is to make people comfortable and tell her things that they normally wouldn't. I confided in her something that normally I wouldn't share. She used that to make a weapon against you."
"Tell me, Jeffrey, just what made you come storming into this room earlier? You've kept your distance this week, why now?"
"Malia told me that you've been harassing her and making life difficult for her. She was crying when I found her, made it so much more believable. She's never done anything to make me doubt her before."
"So you took the words of someone you've known at face value and came in here ready to rip my head off with out even giving me a chance to say anything." Alana wasn't saying those things to condemn him, just stating the facts back to him, but it makes him more than a little sick to hear her say them like that.
"Yes, but when I saw your own tears and that you'd been crying for some time the anger that her words filled me with left. I'm not sure why." Jeffrey is confused on that.
The hag rolls her eyes, "Because your bond with Alana is stronger than whatever spell that bitch used. Alana is your wife, you wouldn't have been able to hurt her physically because of the marriage bond. At least not without hurting yourself. Malia doesn't understand what it means to be married like that, she thinks it isn't any different than human marriage."
"I guess, I don't understand either, then." Alana finally speaks. She is confused about what she's hearing, but it hasn't changed her mind. As long as Malia remains here, she won't and since Jeffrey won't be giving up his daughter it means that she'll be leaving.
"You are both bound to each other until death, but there is more. Because of your binding you'll be able to find Jeffrey or he'll be able to find you, no matter where you are. You will feel pain if he is hurt and he will feel yours. To give you physical pain means that he would be giving himself physical pain. That's why it is very possible that if one of you dies, that the other could as well." Hag looks at Jeffrey when she says that so that he understands that he will need to track down and find Alana before anything happens to her.
Silence falls after her words are spoken for several tense minutes before Chronos comes back into the room. "Everyone is gathered, father. Just as you wished."
"Thank you, Chronos, if you all would come and watch, I would appreciate it." Jeffrey says leading the way out of the room.
