Chapter 9

You walk along with Kirishima, lightly chatting about topics and laughing about certain things.

"Hey, Roselle?"

"Hmm?" You reply.

"Can I ask you a question?"

"Yep! Go right on ahead!"

" I mean it's weird asking this from a 12 year old, but-"

"Don't say that! My age is offended!"

"Age is not a thing Rose." Box interrupted.

"Oh! You woke up! About time." You snort. "Also, yes, it is."

"Yeah, yeah. Now, what did you want to say Kirishima?"

"It's just.. eh...well..." You look at him, waiting.

"You know what, never mind." You shrug, not pushing it.

After you've arrive, you ask Kirishima for the directions, which, to your surprise, is pretty far. 20 minutes away, actually.

"That's so long!"  You groan.

"Yeah, but you get used to it eventually." Kirishima reassures.

"Thanks Kirishima!" You walk into your apartment, feeling happy.

It's only 2 p.m when you arrive, so you have plenty of time to research. You make yourself cereal and place it on the side of your bed, place your computer in front of your bed, and you wrap yourself into your blanket, ready to research. Box fell back asleep, so you gently place him next to you and wrap a small dish towel on it.

"There you go." You hum and start searching.

Information attained:
- You live 15 minutes away from your school
- Your school is a non quirk school and has won a few awards from being the top non-supporting quirk school in Japan
- You have average grades

----------

You wake up on your bed, feeling pretty sleepy.

"Mornin' box.." After no reply, you look to your left to see a note. It says, 'To Roselle: My time here is done, so like, I gotta go. TTYL. From, Box.'

You sigh sadly and put the note away. Sentimentality can wait.

You wash your face, brush your teeth, take a shower, have a quick breakfast (cereal) and packed your bags. You put on your uniform, which has a a white blouse attached with a sailor-style collar and a black pleated skirt.A red ribbon's tied in the front and laced through a loop attached to the blouse. You also have a seasonal variations for summer and winter.

Still having 30 minutes left, you decide to head to school. Putting on your shoes and socks, you check your reflection one last time and winked. "I can do this!"

You arrive feeling tired already. How do the Japanese do this?! Not feeling tired at all? I mean, what?

You decide to try to blend in as much as possible and asked a random student about the classes.

"Excuse me, do you know where my classroom is, madam?" The student cringes at your name, but replied anyways.

"Well, how old are you?"

"12."

"Then go to the classroom on the north wing, the opposite of the library."

"Thank you!" You head to your classroom. Along the way, you notice you can read the sign on the library. You shrug, finding it strange. You enter your class, eyeing your classmates. They seem like regular people. Good. You ask the nearest person where you've sat yesterday.

"Excuse me, do you know where I sit?"

"You sat at the second row, 4th from the left." You thank him and head to your sit.

There you go. Lemme just grab my Textbook... You grab it from your bag, which has an assortment of pink and purple badges all over it, spelling out crude words. No wonder the teachers, everyone, they hate you. You rip the badges from your bag and stuffed them in you bag, then crossed your arms and thought. You absent mindlessly listen to your neighbor discuss about food with her friends. Wait.

If I can listen, does that mean I can speak Japanese and read it and write it!?

You quickly flip open your textbook finding a random passage to read about. Your first lesson is History.

'The Japanese Paleolithic period (旧石器時代 kyūsekki jidai) is the period of human in habitation in Japan predating the development of pottery, generally before 10,000 BC. The starting dates commonly given to this period are from around 40,000 BC; although any date of human presence before 35,000 BC is controversial, with artifacts supporting a pre-35,000 BC human presence on the archipelago being of questionable authenticity. The period extended to the beginning of the Mesolithic Jōmon period, or around 14,000 BC.

The earliest human bones were discovered in the city of Hamamatsu in Shizuoka Prefecture, which were determined by Radiocarbon dating to date to around 14,000–18,000 years ago.'

I can read it!

"Yes! I can read it!" You exclaim to yourself. Luckily, no one heard you. Then, you had an awful thought. Wait, does that mean I can't speak English??

Luckily, you have English today, so you dig out your English textbook and flip through it.

'Bob's fiancé caught food poisoning two weeks before their wedding. As extra credit, he has his student do a mock wedding to see how guests will view his wedding.'

You can read it too. You smile, almost too joyfully because your neighbors began whispering about you. But you don't care! This is awesome, because I won't have to struggle as much! Yes!

The bell rang. Late students scramble into the room, faces lighting up when they see the teacher has not arrived. A few minutes later, the teacher came in with a boy with black hair, piercing, and I mean piercing red eyes and scowl on his face with a neat uniform on.

"Students, we have a new student. Please introduce yourself." The teacher introduces.

"Hi, my name's Montaro... Monuz. It's a pleasure to meet you. I hope you'll accept me." He slightly smiles, blinding you.

"That's so bright..." You mutter.

"Thank you for the... show, now please sit down next to Roselle."

Oh shiet why me?!

"Hi." The guy approached you and dumped his bag on the table. Opening it, you get a glance on what's inside as he takes out his bag.

A big, clear tablet seems to lay on the bottom of the bag, with a watch with the same material as the tablet next to it. You raise an eyebrow. That's weird. Why would there be a clear tablet? Are they even made? What?? Is Japan that advanced already?

You have no more time to think, as class already started.

It's the second break, and you're forcing your food into your mouth with such force no one bothered to sit next to you. Except for one.

Yup, the same boy that sat next to you. He was quiet, but makes the occasional sarcastic comment, which you reply with. The two of you begin to talk. He seems to trust you, which worries you a bunch, since you don't know anything. The day's been alright up to this point.

^^^^^^^^^^^
Exhausted, you lay on your bed. You were about to go home when a teacher called you, saying you have an extracurricular activity, broadcasting. It wasn't as hard as you thought. You got a B- in your assignment, which you're proud of.

You were also paired up with Montaro, and you both decide to start on the assignment today.

"Man, this is where you live?"

"I guess so. I don't actually know. I just ended up here."

"What do you mean, just ended up here?"

You sigh. You messed up, didn't you? "So, basically..."

You told him everything. How you got here, Box, your night with Class 1A, everything. He looked at you, astonished.

"Wow, t-that's a lot."

"I know. How 'bout you?"

"I've got nothing! What are you talking about?!" Montaro laughs nervously.

"Nothing. Really, nothing. I'm not that gullible, y'know."

"Sorry dude. You can't know. We just met for one day and I can't really tell you anything yet. I need to know if I can trust you or not."

"I guess that makes sense. So, friends?"  You strike your hand out. He took it with a smile.

"Deal."
