“What exactly are we doing here, late in the night?" Osaze said as Ada looked frantically through the GPS on her phone with her right hand pressed to the steering wheel as she brought the car to a halt.
“Something Osaze, we are going to do something. " Ada rebuffed, irritated by his words. It wasn't the first time he had asked that stupid question, neither was it the second either.
“Do you care to explain or elaborate?" Osaze answered.
“No, Not now."
“Then what do we do? You don't even know the way for goodness sake." Osaze replied with his arms outstretched.
“I'll figure it out." Ada hastily replied as she shot a deadly glare at him.
“Okay." Osaze closed off.
Ada sighed. It was her birthday and instead of being treated to a delicious dinner in an expensive restaurant, here she was, battling with her phone. Couldn't Aderonke be a little bit specific?
She decided to change her drastic tone on noticing Osaze's pissed facial expression.
“So...what do you think about... single women who aren't virgins?" Ada asked, still typing on her phone.
“Well...I think they are dirty and impure. Why can't they keep yourself till marriage? I can't marry someone who's not a virgin. It's like... an abomination to me. " Osaze shook his head in disgust.
Shock brought a quietness within Ada, a moment to feel her emotions change gear and girder her soul for what was to come. Shock was that feeling of pause while the brain makes a new connection, one that brings high emotion of either joy or sorrow. It was finding yourself unexpectedly on a platform, train approaching, realising that this time the destination was not a choice.
Ada turned, but too slowly to be normal. When she spoke, her voice trailed slowly, like her words were unwilling to take flight. There was a sadness in her eyes, the brown too glossy.
How could Osaze say that?
“R-Really? You really... think single women who aren't virgins are dirty?"
“Yeah." Osaze affirmed.
“W-What about women who... have been raped? That wasn't their choice." Ada asked.
“Well... it's still the same to me." Osaze raised his shoulders nonchalantly, “They were raped obviously... because of their mode of dressing and probably because...they carry themselves as sluts. Whether they were raped or it was consenual. They all seem dirty to me."
Ada gripped the steering with unimaginable anger, “Ehehn? That's very nice to hear."
“Yeah, I know you are a virgin. You aren't dirty like other women." Osaze prompted.
Ada chuckled sarcastically before throwing Osaze a fake smile. She watched his face briefly. How can a man be so attractive and shallow in thinking at the same time.
This life isn't balanced at all!
Those feelings that she was beginning to have for him began to sunk like the Titanic ship slowly, and turn to sheer disgust. She managed to find the road map on her phone GPS and she immediately roared the car engine to life. No matter how Osaze tried so hard to make small talk, Ada curved him smoothly and politely.

“Tell me, why did you....why did you impregnate Bimbo? Our daughter? Our...." Aderonke screamed.
“Ronke, you don't understand. Bimbo seduced me. I didn't want to do it....I mean it was the devil's work." Wale stuttered as his arms kept shaking.
“Then...why didn't you tell me?" Aderonke added.
“Why are you talking as if you don't know how you behave? Do you look like someone that's easy to talk to? You will never understand." Wale banged the table with his fist.
“W-What don't I understand? The fact that you have been lying to me for the past 18 years or the fact that you... watched me blame those poor girls for a death they didn't even commit? You are a devil, Adewale. You are the devil's incarnate. If someone asks me to choose between marrying a snake and a man....I will definitely pick the snake." Aderonke shouted as tears dampened her robust cheeks .
“And what about you, Aderonke?" Wale's voice turned thick and bold as he slowly rose up, his eyes turning red.
Aderonke suddenly burst into a hysterical laugh.
“Wale, are you talking to me that way? Remember I have a gun o." Aderonke twirled the gun dangerously in her arms.
“Yes, what about you, Aderonke? You have been lying to yourself for the past 18 years." Wale began to scream.
“Lying about what?" Aderonke gritted her teeth angrily.
“BIMBO IS NOT YOURS. BIMBO IS NOT YOUR FUCKING DAUGHTER. SHE'S NOT MY DAUGHTER! SHE'S ADOPTED FOR GOODNESS SAKE!" Wale vented as he shattered a wine glass on the floor furiously.
Aderonke's eyes turned glossy, “A-And s-so? What if she's not my biological daughter? I raised her for good eighteen years and that makes her daughter."
“Y-Your daughter? The one you never paid attention to? You would go on trips to Dubai, Singapore and UK everytime to have fun, buy goods. You...were never there during Bimbo's primary school graduation.i was there. You were never there the day she started menstruating. You were in Miami, cruising on the beach. The only time you were ever around was this year. You aren't a mother, Ronke." Wale scoffed and took a gulp from a wine bottle like an illiterate.
“The reason why...I never felt the need to be there was because I entrusted her in your care. I... thought that she had a father. I didn't know I was stupid to leave her with you." Aderonke replied.
“A father? She doesn't even look like me." Wale snarled.
“And that gave you the right...to sleep with her? Even if... she seduced you, Even if she craved such stupid attention from you, you should have behaved like an adult. You should have...behaved like a father." Aderonke retorted.
“I didn't have a choice, Ronke. I didn't. She was too clingy and sensitive. She wanted it and I gave it to her." Wale said.
“There's always a choice. There is always a choice. You simply do not feel a ounce of remorse simply because she's not your daughter." Aderonke repeated frantically as she advanced towards Wale with the gun scraping parts of the table.
“And what about you? You sold your body off to men." Wale tilted his head.
Aderonke raised her right arm and slapped Wale across the face.
“Y-You have no right to say that to me, Adewale. You have no right to judge me. " Aderonke said.
Wale rubbed his agonized cheek, “After all you said it yourself, everyone has a choice."
“We...are talking about a trivial matter and you are referring to my past. You won't get away with this." Aderonke stamped.
“And don't I have the right to judge? You aborted innocent babies in your stomach and...your womb got destroyed in the process. You also don't... have the right to judge me." Wale told her.
“You are a deranged man, a very stupid one." Aderonke imitated her words with gesticulation of her arms.
“And.. you are a crazy woman yourself. Have you forgotten, Aderonke? You have never been to the four walls of a university talkless of smelling a degree. I took you as a prostitute from the street and made you who you are. You are alive and rich, thanks to me, Aderonke." Wale yelled.
Aderonke gulped as more tears ran down her cheeks. Her muscles suddenly turned stiff. She hated it anytime anyone mentioned her weakness and she was hurt because it had to be Wale.
Wale ran his slimy fingers across Aderonke's hips and hauled her closer to himself. He gripped her right wrist and covered the gun she was holding in his arms, he raised the pistol to the side of his head and chuckled like a lunatic.
“Shoot me if you can, my darling wife. I dare you!"
