Chapter 31
Sitting up straight on his desk, under the dim moonlight showering from the window, Jimin keeps tapping his pen against the surface, lost in some deep thoughts.
Crumpling one more paper in frustration, he shoots it straight towards the bin at the corner of the room, sighing and leaning back into his chair.
"It's been so long..." He mumbles under his breath.
Glancing at the clock, Jimin presses his lips into a thin line when he sees it's been too long since he's been sitting here on his desk, doing nothing but writing some words on a paper, and then crumpling and throwing them again and again.
"Why am I craving to write something after so long?" Pulling the sleeves of his purple shirt up, he covers his fists, staring at the ceiling.
"Maybe because I miss you.."
Not getting any idea, he stares out of the window, where he notices the tiny snowflakes falling from the sky again.
An idea strikes his mind, his hand roaming on the soft page of the notebook again.
Removing the cap of his pen, his shaky hand hovers above the blank page, as he starts writing.
"Like the tiny dust floating in the air
Will I get to you a little faster,
If I was the snow in the air?
Snowflakes fall down
And get farther away little by little
I miss you..
How long do I have to wait?
How many sleepless nights do I have to spend?
To see you?
To meet you?"
A satisfactory exhale leaves his mouth as he gets up, staring at the lines he just wrote.
"Will there be a way to get you out of my mind...or do I have to suffer every day?"
He closes his eyes, a shiver running down his whole body as he throws himself on his bed exhaustedly, covering himself under the warm comforter.
He comes across something hard near his pillow, as he shifts his head to look at it.
His camera.
Slowly turning to the other side, Jimin goes through the roll, coming across the pictures of his friends that he clicked some days ago.
A smile tugs on his lips as he stares at each one of them, like he was admiring their existence.
"They are surely a pain in the ass sometimes, but I love them more than they'll ever know." He whispers.
Coming across other pictures, Jimin steals a glance at the girl's pictures that he clicked. On one side, he wanted to skip those. But on the other, he wanted to admire them too.
"No, that's not possible." He shakes his head, turning off the camera and placing it on his nightstand.
"But, what if it is...?"
---------
"Taehyung, do you remember?" Jimin turns his head towards Taehyung who was busy scrolling through his phone.
"What?"
"There's going to be seven years since Soojung's death."
"Oh yeah, I remember..." Taehyung whispers, plucking his airpods out of his ears.
"Time goes by so fast.." Jimin looks out of the window of the bus, staring at the blue sea on display as the bus drives through the highway.
"I know." Taehyung pats on Jimin's thigh, "you're still not over her. But I think it's time you think about yourself and your future. You can't be stuck over something that happened years ago. We know that was tragic but who can change fate?"
Jimin sighs at Taehyung's words. "I know Taehyung. And I try too. But it's just.... hard for me to get over it."
"Soojung would be praying for you. And it's better if you get over it and start cherishing the things you like."
"What do I like? I like nothing." Jimin shrugs.
"Maybe you do? You just don't know till now." Taehyung stares at Jimin and Jimin stares back in confusion.
"Crap." He blurts out. "If there is something that makes me happy, that's my responsibility. And you know."
"Yes I know.." Taehyung hums. "Was just wondering about someone who could make you as happy as she used to do.." he says and gets up from his seat, throwing his bag over his shoulders, followed by Jimin who gets up too, getting off the bus in front of their dorm gate.
"I will be going to my hometown for a week." Taehyung speaks before turning to his way. "Take care of Jungkookie for me."
-----------
"Calm down kid...he hasn't even left yet."
Jimin stares at a tiny Jungkook, his eyes puffed up, dry stains of tears on his red squishy cheeks with a pout forming on his swollen lips. He rests his face between his legs which were pulled upto his chest.
"What if I die while he is not here?" Jungkook whispers and Jimin facepalms.
"He's leaving for a week Jungkook. Just a week! Stop acting like a baby!" Jimin scruches his nose, and Jungkook rolls his eyes.
"You don't even know.. I can't live a day without him and you're talking about a week?" Jungkook mutters, wiping his cheek with the sleeve of his sweatshirt.
"We won't let you feel his absence." Eunhi softly smiles at the boy, and he nods.
"Jimin, I'm gonna lea-" Taehyung enters Jimin's room, rolling his bag behind him when he sees Jungkook on the bed, his legs folded and his face resting between his knees.
"What happened to Kookie?" He quickly drops his bag and jumps on the bed.
"Are you okay Kookie?" He lifts up his head with his hand, cupping his cheeks.
"I'm okay... I'll miss you Tae... come back soon." Jungkook whispers and Taehyung grins from ear to ear.
"Sure, I'll be back very soon. Don't worry. We'll go to the amusement park when I come back. Okay?" He flashes his signature boxy smile, making Jungkook giggle.
"Yeah..."
"Goodbye, take care." He kisses Jungkook's temple, making him feel soft and cozy under his presence.
"You too.." he pulls Taehyung in his embrace, both enjoying each other's company for a minute.
While Eunhi and Jimin awkwardly stand away, watching the two love birds.
Jimin blinks his eyes and sighs, as Eunhi gapes at Jimin.
"You're lucky you got these dorks as your best friends." She whispers and Jimin nods.
"Okay, I'll be leaving now. We'll meet soon." Taehyung annouces, detaching Jungkook's hand from his sweater as Jungkook again and again hold him back.
"Bye Kookie, I love you."
"I love you more."
------------
"What a beautiful day it is, right hyung?" Jungkook chirps the next day, while walking with Jimin in the library.
"Taehyung texted you.. didn't he?" Jimin asks as he picks some books from the shelf.
"With a heart emoji!"
Jungkook beams and Jimin covers his mouth while laughing.
"You're so bipolar, Jungkook."
"And he's the cause." Jungkook shows his lockscreen, a picture of Taehyung and him on the beach.
"Wait..you had a pic of all us awhile ago?" Jimin stares bewildered and Jungkook bursts into a light blush.
"Yes, it was...but you should keep changing right?" Jungkook smirks and Jimin hits him with the book.
"Ouch! Why?"
Jungkook rubs his head confusedly, staring into Jimin's eyes.
"Forget about the pizza now." Jimin declares and Jungkook pouts.
"Why? Okay I'll change my lockscreen... don't cancel the order!" Jungkook whines.
"You don't need to change it, it's alright." Jimin fixes his glasses as they sit at the end of the library.
"Well, hyung..." Jungkook whispers while scrolling through his phone.
"Yeah?"
"Are you gonna fall in love again?"
This hits him.
Jimin stops smiling, now his lips pressed in a thin line.
"I don't know, Jungkook. Love is not my thing anymore." He sighs, turning the pages of his book.
"Love can surely destroy you, I admit. But if it's with the right person, then love is the most beautiful thing ever." Jungkook states, earning a stare from Jimin.
"Where did you learn it from?"
"I found it on Pinterest." Jungkook sheepishly smiles.
"Okay, but not now. I don't want to find love. I want love to find me...and that too, may take time." Jimin whispers.
"Yeah, you can't even find your underwear. Love is a big thing hyung." Jungkook pats his thigh.
"Shut up, Jungkook! I'm not that careless anymore. I put my underwears under the mattress now, so that I don't forget where I placed them." Jimin explains and Jungkook snorts.
"Under the mattress? What are you upto hyung?"
"It's just my thing Jungkook, I'm different." Jimin boasts, and Jungkook laughs even harder.
"Amazing."
----------
Pulling the sleeves of her sweater up, with a duster in one hand, and a bucket of water in other, Eunhi decides to clean the dorm room.
After neatly arranging everything in her room, she cleans the kitchen counter, dining table as well as the shoe rack.
Proudly staring around, she rests her hands on her hip as she makes her way towards Jimin's room.
"He never cleans his room, it's always so messy." She scruches her face in disgust.
Stepping inside, she starts mopping the floor, picking up his books and clothes from the ground and placing them in their places.
Coming across the bed, she removes the old crinkled sheets, replacing them with a new one.
While pulling the new sheets onto the mattress, she tugs it under the mattress, as her hand brushes against something and she suddenly backs away.
"What's that under his mattress?" She gulps before pushing the mattress up, and her face turns red when a bunch of underwears fall to the ground.
"What...the...heck!"
