11)Secrets

***Cas' POV***

I had been regretting this moment since I woke up this morning. I knew Dean would want to talk after our blowout and when I walked in the house and my daughter, not even looking up from the episode of Backyardigans she was supposedly watching, quietly told me he wanted me to call him my hands began to shake with anxiety.

I debated focusing on the fact that something was obviously wrong with Kennedy instead of calling my husband but quickly decided against it and made my way to my bedroom. Don't answer, please don't answer. I chanted as the phone rang, feeling like a panicky child again. But he did answer.

DW: hey, Cas.
CN: hello, Dean.
DW: there's a lot to talk about... but I'm sorry. It was shitty of me to say you don't do anything.
CN: I know.
DW: we need to do what's bet for our daughter.
CN: *confused* I know that, as well.
DW: we need to tell her. About Alice.
CN: we will discuss this when she's at school tomorrow. You can come over before I go to work.
DW: okay... I love you.
CN: I love you, too, Dean. Come home soon.

And then we hung up. I took a deep breath and fell back against my bed, laying there for a while before getting up to make dinner.

***Kennedy's POV***

I was making my way to the front of the school, after school, when Dixie ran up to me. "Hey, Kennedy. Look, I'm sorry for yesterday. I flipped out."

And that's when it hit me. I didn't know if I loved this girl. I didn't even know if I could love anymore. But I wanted to try. I wanted her. So I kissed her.

She stared at me with wide eyes when I pulled away. "I... I wasn't expecting that. What does that mean?"

"It means I'm willing to try. But I don't want any titles on this. And we have a lot to talk about first. You're coming over on friday." I heard Dean honk at me so I told Dixie I would text her and I ran off to the car.

To my surprise, when we pulled up to my house Dean parked in the drive way and got out. "Did you and Dad make up yesterday?"

Dean shrugged as he put the key in the door, Cas would still be at work. "We still have things to talk about." We sat at the bar in the kitchen and Dean held out a Pepsi to me. "But I love him more than anything, except for you... but that's a different kind of love so I suppose it doesn't count... but now I'm rambling. Your dad and I will work things out. It's just a tiny fight. But tonight... we have to talk to you about."

So I quickly finished the little homework I had then sat on the couch watching How I Met Your Mother until Cas came home from work. They told me to stay in the living room because they had things to talk about. When dinner was finally done they called me into the dining room. They made spaghetti. I was then terrified of what they had to tell me.

I picked at my food for half an hour, then Cas grabbed all our plates, muttering something about switching my pulls because off the appetite change, then came back. He gave Dean a worried glance then they both turned to me.

"Your mother called." Dean blurted out.

Cas smacked his arm, "you couldn't have found a better way to tell her?"

"Sorry! You should've told her. We've been together twenty-two years and you still don't know that I'm bad at sugar coating?" Dean raised his hands in defense.

They argued back and forth before I yelled, "Stop! someone, I don't care who, better tell me what the hell you mean." They both started talking at the same time. "Stop!" I pointed at Dean, "you first."

"A week ago we got a call. Blocked number, y'know how we don't usually answer those, but for some reason-"

"Stop." I interrupted, pointing at Cas, "Go."

He took a deep breath, "I picked up the phone. I was waiting for a call from Auntie Anna, and if didn't think about it being blocked. So, she introduces herself as-"

I held up my hand to stop him then pointed at Dean.

"Alice Kohlberg. Apparently she had been calling for a week, why she didn't leave messages? I don't know."

Held up my hand then pointed at Cas again.

"But she said she needed to meet you and, of course I demanded to know who she was and she said..." Cas and Dean looked at each other then spoke at the same time: "she's your biological mother."

I had gone over this moment so many times in my thirteen years with my dads. But never had I thought it would actually happen. And never quite like this. I had five million questions going through my mind. But Dean seemed to read the biggest one because he answered it: "and she wants to meet you."
