I got up and got ready for school. I threw on a plain black tee and some nice black skinny jeans. I did my hair, adding a hint of color to it with a powder. I went to the bathroom to put on some eyeliner, I did a simple cat and then powdered it lightly with black eyeshadow. I also decided to put a little power on my cheeks so that they weren't a complete dull pale.
Once I finished, I made sure my bag was packed. I went in my room to wake Leo again, knowing he would fall back asleep, but he won't be coming to school with is today.
I shook his shoulder, whispering his name. He hummed, opening his eyes.
When he saw me, he smiled, "Hey, hot stuff." I smacked him and he complained, but I grabbed the water bottle from my desk and gave it to him.
"You're staying home today." I state.
He frowns, "Why, Neeks?"
"Because you haven't had your medicine recently and I don't think you're feeling up for it." I explain.
He pouts and protests, but my words are final. "I'll tell you how it goes later with Jacie. I love you."
"Love you too." he frowns, waving good-bye. I shoulder my bag and exit.
I grab an apple, telling Father I'll be in the car. He nods, and I kiss Mama good-bye.
I take chomp after chomp of my fruit until all that's left is the core. I throw it away and make my way outside.
Jacie is already in shotgun, so I sit behind her. Once I'm in, she puts her phone down.
"I'm so excited!" she squeals.
I chuckle under my breath, "It's not much, just a trashy high school."
"Do you think we'll have similar schedules?"
I didn't want to hurt her feelings by not replying, so I said, "I hope so."
"Me too!"
She looked back at me with excited eyes. It's funny, because her actions don't always seem child-ish, but they do most of the tine, and it softens you up instead of makes you retort in irritation. She has that magic power of sending her vibes your way, I guess. If she weren't my sister, I'd loathe her for it.
"So, is Leo coming today?" she asks.
"No," I shake my head. "He won't be until his medicine works out. Don't tell him that though, he'll get mad at me."
"I'm glad you guys worked out your problems." she mentions.
I nod shyly, looking at the tips of my shoes, "Th-thanks, I guess."
She nods, "M-hm."
We wait about five minutes before I ask about her date, "So you're going out with that boy tonight?"
"Yep!" she replies. "I was hoping I'd see him at school, but then I realized he goes to a different one because his has this week off."
"Lucky him." I reply with sass.
"Eh, maybe. Anyways, I don't know where he's taking me, but I hope it's somewhere fancy. I picked out my clothes already, I'll show you later. Also, his name is Edgar."
I nod, smiling at her enthusiastic paragraph. She seems really into the guy, I hope he makes her happy.
After another couple of minutes, Father takes the wheel.
"Ready?" he asks, referring to our buckled seat-belts.
I nod and Jacie replies happily, "Yes."
The car starts moving as it pulls into the streets of New York. Here we go, another day of boring, sucky, New York high school.
