I was seconds from snapping her neck and ripping his heart out. My emotions and blood boiled like a volcano threatening to erupt; but it practically already did. Hot tears traveled down my cheeks as they continued their makeout session. Volk.. Why... Shelly made a sound that only I've heard in movies, I never minded that sound but when Volk makes her feel like this... I feel empty. I shouldn't have ever fallen in love, with Volk. Fallen in utterly bottomless love with him.

Hitting my head on the bus window, I wanted to disappear right there and then. No one has made me feel this sad ever since my parents died. More tears fell from my eyes before the bus jolted to a stop. I jump up and just about fly off the bus, leaving a snickering Shelly behind. I sprint into the school and towards the closest bathroom. Thankfully, the bathroom was empty as I hurled my shaking body into room. My bag gets chucked across the room and into a wall. I curl my body up against the wall and cry stupidly. Stupid fucking emotions... I don't want my heart... I don't want anything. When I hear muffled rap music playing from one of the stalls, I force my legs to pull my body up as I whimper. A black girl that i kind of recognize emerges from the stall I heard it from with her earbuds unplugged, she glanced at me as I rubbed my red puffy eyes, sniffling.

"Yo, are you a'ight?" She asks and steps closer.

"Yep I'm fine." Forcing a smile.

"Gurl you do not look 'fine'. Tell ol' Rebecca what's up." The girl--Rebecca-- put her phone in her back pocket of her ripped jeans and leaned against the wall next to me.

"Just.. Guys.." I let out a laugh.

"Ah. Most guys are dumb, they like to play with your heart cords."

"Tell me about it.."

"Hey, what's your name?"

"Eau."

"Just Eau?"

"Pretty much."

"That's a dank name, name's Rebecca."

"Nice to meet you Rebecca." I awkwardly hold out my hand and she shakes it.

"You too, Eau. Listen I gotta head to my class but I'll try and meet back up with ya around lunch. That sound cool?"

My head nodded before I could even think about it. Rebecca smiled and headed out of the bathroom, plugging her earbuds, now blasting country, back in. Damn.. A new friend..

Volk hadn't talked to me all day, and I was relieved. Shelly and him were still making out in the back of every class, which made my heart slowly disintegrate. When the bell rang for lunch, I ran out of my class but slammed into Shelly. Her Starbucks coffee cup gets jolted up and Shelly's face gets covered in coffee. I could practically see smoke falling from her ears and lava boiling in her eyes.

"What. The. Hell?!" Shelly screamed and back handed me. I fall to the ground and wait for Shelly to keep yelling but I hear a familiar voice.

"Aye aye aye Gurl calm yo ass!" Rebecca runs up and stands in front of me.

"Move, you nigger!"

"Oh gurl you didn't just call me that." I heard Rebecca's voice lower. I won't let a fight happen because of me. I grab Rebecca's hand, pulling myself up and dragging her away. "I could've handled her!"

"Well I won't let you."

"Ughghhh. Okay! Well let's go get some grub! I'm starving and need to feed my fat self." Rebecca laughed and lifted her white shirt and patted her skinny stomach. My eyes rolled around in their sockets.

"Okay let's go."

We continue talking down the hallway, ignoring Shelly's angry shouts behind us. Finally, we reached the lunch room and Rebecca sprinted, shoving some freshman to the side, to the pizza line as screaming 'pizza pizza pizza'. Rebecca grabs the whole pizza and throws some money at the lunch lady as grabbing a mountain dew. I slowly, and awkwardly, grab a turkey sandwich and a chocolate milk. Rebecca sprints back to a table next to a window, me slowly following.

"I can't wait for prom in two weeks!!" Rebecca giggled as we sat down. I never imagined Rebecca to be the kind of girl to wear a dress...but I guess I was wrong.

"Eh.. I have no one to go with.." I was thinking of Volk when I said that-- but I also thought of Shelly sucking his mouth.

"Neither do I.. Hey! Let's go together!"

"You're pretty quick to make friends, you know that right?"

Rebecca nodded and swallowed the bite of pizza she had.

"Well.. Okay. But you have to give me time to pick a dres-"

"Let's pick ours together!" My eyes widened. Rebecca is so nice to me.. Thank God..

"Okay okay Becs." Rebecca smiled brightly at her nickname.

My heart stopped when Volk stopped in front of our table. Rebecca tried to wave him off but his dark eyes locked onto me. My heart finally started to beat again, but it pounded faster than a cheetah sprinting for a meal. Rebecca's yelling at Volk got me out of my void.

"Go away! She obviously doesn't want to talk to you." Rebecca growled up at the boy. He continued to ignore her.

"I'm sorry." He breathed out, but I tried to ignore him. He grabbed my hand and leaned down, kissing my hair. "Please, Eau.. Let me explain.." My body was completely frozen.

"You should've said that before you let Shelly suck your face like there was no tomorrow." I growled and slapped his hand away. Rebecca let out a snicker and watched Volk.

"You don't get it Eau. Remember what I told you last night?" His voice lowered dangerously like how it was when James grabbed me.

"Whatever."

That one word set him off. He grabbed my wrist and dragged me towards the exit of the lunch room. Rebecca gets up to follow but I about over my shoulder to make her stay, thankfully she did. Volk slammed the door shut behind us and shoved me against the brick wall outside, a shriek coming from my lips as he obviously left a mark, his hands on either side of my head as his eyes..glowed?!

"You need to stop and let me fucking explain." He growled. I gulped and nodded, drowning in fear. But Volk also made me feel something pounding in my chest. "Shelly is like me. A beast."

It took me a minute to realize something. Shelly had always 'claimed her territory', and when she got pissed it looks like she was gonna rip a moose apart.. I can actually see Shelly turning into a giant man eating whor- I mean wolf. Her sharp nails.. The people that follow her around.. Her pack possibly?

My heart was boiling again. Thus didn't make any sense why Volk was kissing her..mating..? No. I can't think that.. I.. Love him..

"Yes. She wanted to mate." I forgot he can read my mind!! Shit he knows that I.. "I what?" Volk sounded confused.

"Nothing.." I mumbled. "But.. Why did you let her? Why aren't you with her now?!" It came out like a scream. He gently put his strong index finger on my lips.

"Because I didn't know that someone else loved me more than Shelly ever would." He mumbled and his piercing yellow eyes drifted to my lips. He.. He isn't gonna... I know he won't..

Quickly, Volk shoved himself away from me and walked to the door, yanking it open and holding it for me. I follow quickly only for Shelly to shove me back outside, anger in her eyes. She grabbed my arm and chucked me. The world swirled past me and I slammed into a tree... All the way across the field?! Shelly started getting closer, her two minions getting closer than her. A scream echoed from my lips as Shelly burst into a giant brownish red wolf and roared. The girls on either side burst into wolves. The taller one into a darker Brown and the one with shorter hair into a brighter red. Compared side by side, Shelly was at least 2 feet taller than them. Volk.. Help me.. My vision started to get darker as the pack charged at me, kicking up grass, dirt, and some stones. Struggling to get up, I stare at my surroundings. Woods, ditch, football field, school..pond. I sprinted towards the pond, a burning pain coming from my ankle.

Suddenly I felt something collide into me, making me slam into a tree. My body gets rag dolled to the floor of the woods as I felt another pain burn through my stomach. The last thing I did before my vision blacked out was scream for my hero.

"VOLK!!!!!!!"
