Chapter 47

I woke up rather hazily, and my body felt a bit numb as I tried to sit up in the bed I was placed in. I immediately understood that I was in the hospital with a single glance. Considering how I haven’t used my quirk like that in ages, I had probably passed out from exhaustion. Luckily though, I seemed to be fairly uninjured, and lack of movement was probably the cause for my numbness.

It was so nice and quiet that I couldn’t help but flinch at the sound of familiar voices yelling from next door.

“It is as All Might said!” I heard the voice of Iida as I got out of my bed slowly and made my way to the room next door. I didn’t enter, choosing to listen about the situation at hand instead. “This is something we should leave to the pros! This isn’t the place for us to act, you idiots!”

    Ah.

I think that this is the first time I’ve ever seen, well, heard, Iida so angry…

“We know that!” Kirishima yelled back with different emotions seeping through his voice. “But, I couldn’t do anything! After I heard that my friend was being targeted!” Friend being targeted? Was somebody taken? “I couldn’t do anything! I didn’t do anything! If I don’t do anything now, I won’t be hero or a man anymore!”

“Kirishima, we’re in a hospital.” Kaminari tried to hush his friend. “Calm down. It’s fine to feel strongly about things, but this time--”

“Iida is correct.” Asui agreed. It was kind of saddening to hear them arguing like this. It almost reminds me of Captain America: Civil War…

“Iida, all of you, you’re all correct.” You could hear the trembling in Kirishima’s voice. “I know that. But! Hey, Midoriya, your hand can still reach!” Um… I can only see a little through the crack in the door, but from what I can tell… Midoriya’s hands aren’t exactly in the best shape right now… “We can go save him!”

So, another one of the students really did go missing. I did a headcount of the room, and my eyes widened as I only noticed one male missing from the group.

    Katsuki…

“So, in short, you’re planning on getting the receiver from Yao-momo, following it, and going to save Bakugo yourselves?” Ashido connected.

    “Yeah.” Kirishima confirmed.

“Even though the villains said we were targets to be killed, they took Bakugo without killing him, and they were planning to do the same with Masami.” Shouto began explaining. And wait… How did they know about that? How much did I miss? “They probably let him live, but that doesn’t mean they won’t kill him eventually. Kirishima and I are going.”

“Don’t go overboard with your messing around!” Iida yelled once more. I suppose I could understand why he was so against it...

“Wait. Calm down.” Shoji stepped in between them. “I understand Kirishima’s frustration at not being able to do anything and Todoroki’s frustration at having him stolen in front of his very eyes. I’m frustrated too. But, this isn’t a situation where we should act on our emotions. Right?”

Okay… I feel really left out on what happened now. I mean, I think I got the main gist of it, but still…

“L-let’s leave this to All Might…” Aoyama suggested nervously. “Aizawa-sensei’s permission to fight at the training camp has been rescinded, too.”

… I forgot to wait for permission to fight…

“Aoyama’s right.” This time, it was Tokoyami trying to convince them. “I can’t say much since I was the one who needed saving, though…”

“But--” Kirishima tried to start but was surprisingly enough cut off by Asui.

“Everyone,” She started. “We’re all shocked from Bakugo’s kidnapping. But let’s think things through calmly. No matter how just your feelings, if you’re saying you’ll fight again… that you’ll break the rules… Those acts are the same as those of villains.”

Everyone paused in a moment of silence as they thought over her words. They were true enough, and out of everybody there, Iida, Izuku, and Shouto should understand the best…

“Hmm, what are you doing out of bed?” I nearly squeaked as a doctor came over to me.

“O-oh, um, w-well, I heard y-yelling, and well,” I stuttered out nervously as I was flailing my arms around. “I t-thought that I would c-check and make sure e-everything was okay…”

“Then let’s check…” I nearly had a heart attack when he knocked on the door and just walked in the room with me behind him. They would surely realize that I was eavesdropping now! “Sorry to interrupt… It’s time for Midoriya-kun’s exams… And this girl wanted to check on you guys as well real quick.”

    Gah, he pointed me out!

I blushed in embarrassment as all eyes went to me.

“Masami/Mi-chan/Hideyoshi-san!” My different nicknames rang out through the room.

“H-hello…” I looked down nervously as I messed with my hands out of habit.

“W-why don’t we go and see how Hideyoshi-san is doing in her room, so we’re out of the way.” Sero suggested nervously. “I wanna see how Jiro and Hagakure are doing, too.”

“Oh, yeah.” Ojiro agreed with a bead of sweat rolling down his face as the class began heading towards me. I had to step out of the room and out of the way to let them through though.

“I h-hope you feel better Izu-kun!” I called out quietly before I had completely exited the room.

“We should be saying that to you!” Uraraka frowned at me which didn’t really suit her. “You should be in bed resting, Mi-chan!”

“A-ah, sorry,” I gave an apologetic smile as I rubbed the back of my head. “I-I heard y-yelling, and I w-wanted to make sure everyone w-was okay.”

“How are you feeling?” Shouto was the first to ask me as he took my arm in case I needed to be steadied and they walked me back to my room. I was a bit surprised that he asked seeing as the last day of training camp, we had barely been able to look each other in the eye.

“I-I’m alright, I think.” I gave them all a reassuring smile as I sat down on my bed. “I’m a b-bit numb and sore, but other than t-that, I feel fine.”

“That’s a relief.” A few of them sighed. Luckily, they didn’t ask if I had heard anything from their previous discussion, and they didn’t bring up the topic either.

“We brought you some cookies in case you were awake, too!” Uraraka cheered. Granted it was a bit strained. “I remembered how much you like them, and we all pitched in!”

“You g-guys are amazing…” I nearly drooled at the sight of chocolate chip cookies she handed me, and I’m pretty sure there were sparkles in my eyes.

“You’re pretty amazing yourself!” Sero exclaimed. “From what we hear, you took on both Cobra and Silent Raven all by yourself after finding out they were traitors! And you still won with minimal injuries!”

“A-ah, thank you…” I sweat dropped a little but still gave a small, close-eyed smile. “I still f-fell unconscious in the end th-though…”

“Ah, don’t worry about that!” Kaminari grinned. “You’re more great than you give yourself credit for.”

“Yeah!” Ashido agreed with a cheer before becoming a bit downcast. “Though… you probably don’t even want to think about joining the Hero Course now, do you?”

I felt a bit bad as almost everybody looked down in gloomily. I couldn’t help but try to reassure them. “I-I mean, I-I’ll still think about it.”

“Really?!” They all looked a bit hopeful that I felt even worse.

    I feel like I’m being guilt tripped…

    “M-mhm,” I nodded nervously. “But I-I can’t guarantee a-anything…”

“Well, either way, we’ll still be friends, right?” Uraraka gave a smile that I easily returned.

    “Of c-course!”

After that, they kept me company for a little while longer before they decided that they needed to go visit Hagakure and Jiro before visiting hours were over. In the end, Shouto was the only one that remained.

“You heard our entire conversation with Midoriya, from before, didn’t you?” He got straight to the point after everybody had left.

“Sorry about that…” I gave an ashamed smile as I looked at him guiltily.

“You don’t plan on stopping us?” He seemed a bit surprised. Not that he showed it outwardly.

“Would it do any good?” I gave him a knowing look as he sat down beside me.

    “Probably not…” He agreed.

“Just promise me one thing,” I looked him straight in the eyes for the first time in days. “I want you guys to be as careful as possible. If you were to die… I don’t know what I’d do…”

“I’ll do my best.” He assured me whilst placing a hand atop my head. “I don’t plan on dying any time soon.”

“You better not.” I enveloped him in hug as I just basked in his warmth. He wrapped his arms around me almost immediately afterwards. There was no way to know how tonight would go, and I wasn’t going to let him go without at least one more hug.

We stayed in that position for a couple minutes before finally letting go. It was only after that, that he finally decided to leave.

    “Good luck.”
