Y/N

We all stood stretching out our achy limbs underneath the plane. The place where they landed was dark and the air was stale. It was like we found ourselves in some secret bunker. All the way in South Korea though?

My eyes were already use to the dark. When I looked over at Avery he seemed to be glowing. His pale skin radiating the only light from within. He was almost otherworldly.

"Wow..." I gasped, not being able to control my wonderment. Lucas looked over at me, following my gaze. His eyes bugged out at the sight of Avery as well. His response was that of someone brainless.

"Dude you look like a glow worm."

Stupid.

Avery looked at his hands turning them up and down. His face that of curiosity and concern.

"Side effects..."

No one has lasted as long as he did with the vaccine. But you could tell he got worse every day. The dark bags under his pale gray eyes a good indicator.

"How are you feeling?" I asked, Lucas looked at me smiling.

"I'm fine."

"I wasn't talking to you, Lucas..."

Lucas scoffed folding his arms as he kicked a rock. The rock skidded across the ground hitting the wall making a clink noise.

"I'm okay..." Avery murmured, slinging his pack on his shoulders.

I need a shower in the worst way. I've never smelt so bad in my life. I can't believe I urinated on myself. Especially in front of her... now she hates me or thinks I'm disgusting. Then there's friggin Avery glowing like an alien. Making her get all googly eyes. I wonder if he scratched me if I would glow like that.

Let me shake that thought from my head right quick. This isn't a zombie apocalypse... I mean it's a pandemic of epic proportions... but there are no zombies.

Avery popped a few more pills, chugging them down with his water. It looked like it was stupid painful to swallow. All my jealousy I had been feeling washed away at the sight of my best friend. He was dying a little faster and a little more each day.

"Bro... how's the pain today."

He shrugged at me. Any other time I would of slugged him in the shoulder. This time I just nodded.

Y/N was scoping out the place, checking doors and writing things down in her little notebook with a heart like thing on it. It looked like it was in pajamas... weird thing to have on a notebook.

"Find anything?"

She went to say something, only for a loud screech to echo throughout the bunker. A white light filling the area.

"This way! Hurry!" A man's voice called. It sounded so familiar. I couldn't quite place it though.

"Let's go!" Y/N yelled, running towards the guy.

"Wait!" I tried to get her to stop. It was too late she was already inches away from the door. Avery chased after her in what looked to be some type of monkey run.

Damn...

"Move your ass, Lucas!" Avery screamed at me. I jerked out of my thoughts and beat feet towards them.

I skidded to a halt in front of Agent Tucker. He looked like he was on the verge of an anxiety attack.

"Could you move any slower, kid?" He complained, pulling the door closed behind me.

"I have trust issues." I snapped back, glaring at the other two. Avery seemed like he wanted to pass out. Y/N... looked like she wanted to knock me out for my outburst.

This girl...

"Be quiet, Lucas!" She scolded me. Of course I rolled my eyes. She was cute, but she was too trusting. This guy could kill us and no one would know. They wouldn't even be able to find our bodies! Why? Because we are in fucking Korea! What the fuck!

This guy was short, squirrelly as fuck and I didn't trust him. For some reason these two idiots did. Okay Y/N's not an idiot, but I have some concerns.

"Follow me..." The squirrelly Agent Tucker commanded, waving his overly tattooed arm for us to follow him. So you know what we did? We followed like a herd of cattle for slaughter.

Avery was limping more than usual. His face seemed bruised underneath his eyes.

"Hey man, you good?" I know it seems like I checked on him moments before but he just looked worse now.

"A wave is coming..."

Agent Tucker froze in his tracks, staring at Avery like he was a ticking time bomb.

"What did you just say?" You could hear the panic in his tone. I may have fucked us.

"There's a wave coming..." I choked out as my throat started to burn. My lungs felt like the oxygen was being sucked out of them and my vision blurred. I fell hard to the floor.

"Get away from him!" I heard Y/N scream. She was right, they needed to get away. The sound of their feet hitting the cement floor fading into the distance was the only thing that made this easy. A door slammed shut.

My body folded in on itself just as the first round of coughs started. Blood spewed out of my mouth on the floor. Every inch of my body felt like it was on fire. Everything hurt.

And then the lights went out.
