Chapter 5

Click. Open. Close. Click.

His eyes blinked to the unintended rhythm. His ears and mind finding comfort in the monotony.

Luggage bags were clicked opened, checked, clicked closed.

Seemingly unaware of her surroundings and of the eyes following her movements, Sora packed the bags.

The dim light filtering through the glass panels of the door had caught Jimin's attention. His hand on the door stopped midway when he peeped inside to find Sora.

The room now resembling the stylists' storage room more than the room where the group had been practicing a couple hours ago.

Racks of clothes stood against the wall, shoes lined up near the mirror, bags scattered all over the floor and in the middle of all this was Sora, bringing some sort of order to the chaos.

Though only a few inches shorter than Jimin, he would occasionally lose sight of her behind the racks. A hint of a smile would appear every time he would see the top of her head bobbing around, a pencil sticking out; the last-minute solution to keeping her top knot in place.

He didn't try to question the fascination he felt. He simply stood outside the room and watched her.

He realized how much of a creep he looked like, but he didn't want to leave. He didn't want to go in either. What would he say? What could he say?

Things felt worse since the day of the photoshoot. It seemed too late to apologize for his behaviour. Bringing it up would only make it more awkward. He had gotten so caught up in himself that he had failed to see how his actions could have hurt her although she showed no sign of it.

Sora had continued to do her job, just like she always did; she ignored him to the extent she could.

She kept to herself. Did what was expected of her and left. Occasionally, one of the members would come to talk to her out of courtesy, but she would quickly excuse herself, citing work. It worked most of the time, Taehyung being the only exception.

As someone who found it difficult— tiresome mostly— to meet new people and make friends, watching Taehyung was intriguing. The natural charm with which he would win over the most indifferent people and bring them into his world was a stark contrast to the almost asocial life Sora led.

Jimin knew that Taehyung was trying a little harder than usual to make her feel welcome. He was trying to make up for the horrible job Jimin had done of it. It made him want to start afresh with her but he didn't know how to take the first step now, in the literal sense too.

Jimin had been so occupied with his thoughts that he didn't realize that Sora had been staring at him. He cursed at himself and waved at her awkwardly. Sora's eyes narrowed at the unexpected acknowledgement.  She hesitantly raised her hand to wave back at him, wondering to herself what he was trying to do.

Seeing as he had no other choice but to go in and talk to her, Jimin walked in, his eyes darting around the room, trying to avoid her.

"Did you need something?" Sora asked.

"No.. uhh.. I was just passing by, thought I would come in and say hi..." Jimin said, awkwardly rubbing the back of his neck.

"You wanted to say hi..." Sora repeated his words, as if repeating the words would somehow make more sense than they did the first time they were spoken.

"Yeah, anyway," Jimin said, quickly changing the subject. "Do you need any help? This looks like a lot of work. Why are you doing this all alone, though? Where are the rest of the stylists?"

"They went for dinner. I can do this alone. Thank you for offering, though," Sora said, still wary of Jimin.

"Why didn't you go with them?"

"Um, I prefer to eat alone and I wasn't hungry anyway. How about you? Did you have dinner yet?" Sora asked, trying her hardest to be polite to him.

"Did they not invite you?" Jimin asked, ignoring her question.

"They did. Earlier I used to go with them but it would get awkward real quick because I am new and they don't really know me and I don't know them. So I figured its better for everyone," Sora shrugged her shoulders.

Sora truly wasn't bothered about not eating with her colleagues. She continued folding the clothes and packing them into the open suitcase.

Jimin had noticed how Sora didn't spend time with the other stylists beyond work requirements. The thought that he was partly the reason had been nagging at him. The other stylists probably avoided her because of him. They wouldn't want to associate with someone who a member didn't seem to like and his actions made it pretty clear that he wasn't getting along with her.

"Oh, well... I was actually wondering if we could have coffee together?"Jimin asked.

"You want to what now?"Sora asked, going back to her normal self. Politeness left behind.

"Coffee...?" Jimin mumbled. "We could use the time to go over the outfits you have picked for the next shoot..." His statements sounding more like questions. He too wasn't sure where he was going with this.

"Okay..." Sora said. Her eyes focused on his as if trying to read what he was trying to achieve with the sudden change in behaviour. She gave herself a quick mental shake, plastered a smile on her face and nodded her head.

It was just a cup of coffee...
