Chapter 13

"Come in!" The muffled voice filtered out through the door granting Jimin permission to enter the room.

Jin looked up from his laptop where he had been monitoring his performance during rehearsals. He saw Jimin's blonde hair poking in from behind the door and smiled at how unintentionally cute he could be sometimes.

"Jin, are you busy? I can come back later."

He would have told him to come back later but something about Jimin's forced smiled told him that his monitoring could wait. He swiftly closed his laptop and beckoned him inside his room.

"Umm, can we go sit out in the balcony? The weather is nice..." Jimin mumbled, shrugging his shoulders.

Jin nodded and followed Jimin's somewhat heavy footsteps to the balcony.

It was quite late in the night and the city had fallen asleep, giving a rare chance for the stars to shine. Jin closed his eyes, letting the cool breeze hit his face.

"I have something for you."

Jin stepped back from the railing and looked at Jimin holding up a bag that was unmistakably from his favourite patisserie.

Jimin smiled as he watched Jin's eyes widen with surprise and sparkle as he took the bag from him.

"Jiminie! This is a nice surprise!"

This smile was what motivated Jimin to occasionally surprise the boys with small treats. It didn't take much to get them beaming like little kids.

But this time he also had a genuine reason- an apology of sorts.

"I know we already resolved it but I still wanted to get you something to apologize for being so rude the other day."

"Jimin," Jin sighed as he kept the bag aside and pulled him into a hug. He gently patted him on the back and squeezed him tight before letting him go.

"You really didn't have to. We were fine once you told us about what you were going through. You didn't have to go all the way to the patisserie. It's quite far off and you must have been tired after rehearsals," Jin said as his instinct of looking out for the younger ones immediately kicking in.

However, he quickly brushed it off as he saw Jimin's smile reaching his eyes for the first time since he has spoken to him. "Anyway, I knew it! You love me the most in the group!" Jin winked, as he declared himself the winner of the constant argument that broke out at home whenever the boys were put on the spot to choose their favourites.

"Pfft. It's not like I went all the way there for you. I just happened to pick something for you too," Jimin scoffed.

"Oh, really? That was 'convenient'," Jin smirked, unwilling to give up his little victory.

"It actually was. I had to get something for Sora and I just figured I would pick something up for you too."

Jin curiously looked at Jimin and asked, "Sora?"

"It was her birthday today, well, yesterday technically," Jimin said as he checked the watch on his wrist.

"How are things with Sora?"

Jimin hadn't really told the others about his feelings but the members had known that his feelings for his stylist ran deeper than just being colleagues.

"I am not sure... She's not the most expressive person so I am not sure how she feels about me but..."

"I like spending time with her. Talking to her is just so refreshing. I just tell her about my day and she tells me about hers while we wait for her bus to arrive. She does try to maintain this distance because we work together but at the same time, she opens up to me more than anyone else at work. Which isn't all that great but I still feel special, sort of!" Jimin chuckled at how such a simple thing made him happy.

Jin grinned at the innocent excitement he could hear in his voice.

"It's just... easy being with her. There's no burden to impress her or live up to this idol image because she has seen everything. I like her and I want to see where things can go, I guess. But... I don't know..." Jimin sighed as he subconsciously ran his hand through his already messy hair.

"We are leaving for the tour next week. It might not be the best time to bring it up now. Things could get awkward if they don't go as you hope. Tours are already taxing, I just don't want you to take on any more stress.." Jin worried over Jimin's tendency to overthink and stress himself out.

Jimin gave him a small silent nod in response knowing that he might have already ruined his chance as he recalled how their little picnic had come to an awkward end when she had pulled back from what could have been the first intimate moment they had shared.

His fidgety fingers combed through his hair at how visibly uncomfortable Sora had seemed on the drive back and he hated that he had put her on the spot in such a manner. She had been closed off and had entertained his small talk with just nods and monosyllables.

But some part of him still grabbed onto the little silver lining that she hadn't outright rejected his, now apparent, feelings for her.

There was still hope...

...Right?
