Chapter 12

"Jimin, what are we doing here?"

"Need to pick up a package for Jin," Jimin said as he pulled up to the curb and rolled down his window.

Sora sighed and leaned her head against her seat wondering how she had let herself into this situation again. Jimin had surprised her when he had pulled up to her bus stop and told her that he would drop her home as he was going in the same direction.

She had refused but Jimin was far more stubborn than she was.

It had been a week since their little disagreement and both had apologized to each other the next day by getting each other a cup of coffee. They both laughed as they did an exchange in the middle of the hallway and went on their way, each trying to hide their blush behind their coffee cups as they took a sip. The coffee seemed to taste particularly good that morning.

Being around him beyond her duties as a stylist made Sora nervous. No other member went out of their way for a staff member, as Jimin did for her. Sora shook her head and silently reprimanded herself for where her mind was going.

Jimin was known to be extremely caring and his relationship with his previous stylist made it clear that she wasn't anything different and that was a relief, or at least that's what she should have been feeling.

"Thank you!"

Sora turned to Jimin's voice and saw him receiving a paper bag through the window. He handed over the bag to a confused Sora and started driving.

"Jimin?"

"Hmm?"

"That's not the way home."

Jimin just winked at her as he pulled into a parking lot that overlooked the Han river. He took the paper bag from Sora, picked up the blanket lying on the backseat, adjusted the mask on his face and pulled his hoodie over his recently dyed blonde hair.

"Sora! Let's go!"

Before she could even protest, Jimin was already walking towards the riverfront. She followed him as he looked around for a vacant spot. He finally found one that he was satisfied with and looked back at her with a huge smile. Sora couldn't help but smile back at him and quickened her pace to reach him.

Sora settled down at the far end of the blanket and wondered what Jimin was up to when he pulled out a box from the bag that was meant for Jin.

"Isn't that Jin's?"

"Not just his..." Jimin murmured as he quickly turned his back towards Sora almost as if he was hiding something from her. Sora tried to look from behind his shoulders but couldn't see much in the darkness.

"Jimin, what are you doing?"

"Just sshh." Jimin shushed her as he meddled with the box in his hand, all the while looking over his shoulder to make sure Sora wasn't peeping. But her attention was on the river flowing in front of them. She sighed as she brought her knees to her chest and rested her forehead on them.

"Happy birthday to you!"

Sora looked up with a jerk to find Jimin facing her, his hands holding a small cupcake with a candle on it and a huge smile playing on his lips as he sang the birthday song.

Sora allowed herself one little moment of distraction where she admired the way the light from the candle made his face glow and eyes sparkle.

Jimin waved his hands in front of her face to get her attention.

"H-how did you know?" Sora asked, her voice oddly heavy with emotions.

Jimin rubbed his neck and sheepishly admitted to having overheard a phone call from her friend.

Sunhee was the only one who had called to wish her.

"Blow the candle and make a wish!" Jimin said as he moved closer to her, holding the cupcake in front of her. Sora gave a small smile and blew the candle and closed her eyes.

A wish.

She wished for something she couldn't have.

She wished for something she shouldn't have.

A wish she knew wouldn't come true.

A wish that was fulfilled when she felt Jimin's soft lips against her cheek for the briefest second.
