Chapter 1
Hey Guys, it's Jach. This is my first attempt at a One Direction Fan Fiction. I hope you guys like it. >.< Tell me what you think!
(Harry's POV)
You know when you’re at a party and you’re right near the speakers? You probably think to yourself, like I’m thinking to myself right now, ‘man, I should probably get away from these things, or I won’t be able to hear tomorrow.’ I kept thinking that as I pushed my way through the crowd of jumping dancers towards the middle of the dance floor where my mates were crowded. It was nearing half three in the morning. My body and mind were telling me to go home and get away from this loud music.
Management had planned this little public outing. We had been going non-stop since our last show and just when the guys and I thought we could have some downtime, maybe go home and see our families, they threw this at us. The nightclub was pretty well kept, not at all dingy like some places I had seen. We were only mobbed a little on our way there, but the door supervisors outside had done a good job at keeping people outside. A few made it inside, but that’s better than a swarm of them. Plus, we had our bodyguard, Preston with us.
I wouldn’t be surprised if he had killed someone before.
Just saying.
“Hazzaaaaaaaaa!” Once I was at the center of the floor under the glittering and gaudy disco ball, my best mate, Louis slung his arms around me. I could smell the alcohol coming off of him and rolled my eyes. Sure, I had a couple drinks to relax, but Louis was going all out, as were the rest of the band, minus daddy direction, Liam.
I buckled under Louis’ weight when he initially jumped on me, but when I caught my footing; I was able to lift him up. “You’re already pissed?” I chuckled, setting him back down to the dance floor. I saw him about to run off, but Preston caught him by the collar of his striped shirt.
“Hazza, save me-“ Louis choked out, reaching his arms out to me. I pretended to grab for him, potentially saving him from Preston, but I stepped back at the last moment. The look on Louis’ face was the best. It was kind of a mixture between drunken confusion and then saddening realization. “Not cool, Haz. You’re out of the band.”
“As if, Lou.” I laughed. We had always made jokes about it: kicking someone out of the band. One time, we got really serious about it when Zayn showed up late to one of the first meet ups after we got put together as a group. Not sure how things would have turned out without Zayn around.
Speaking of Zayn.
Where was he?
Niall too…
I looked around, scanning the large crowd that surrounded Louis, Preston and myself. Just where I thought they would be, Niall and Zayn were over at the bar. I waved over the crowd as they looked up. Niall enthusiastically waved back and then turned back to Zayn. Both of their heads tilted back, most likely taking shots. I then saw Niall get down from the bar stool and raced towards the center. I lost him for a while in the crowd, but he popped up behind me.
“Are we going?” He asked, Irish accent thick and laced with alcohol. I had to step back to keep away from the fumes.
“We’re-…. Out-….here, yeah?” Zayn showed up just behind Niall. I could barely hear him over the loud speakers and people screaming to the music. I just nodded, hoping that was the right answer to what I figured Zayn was saying. The last person we were missing was Liam. Usually he didn’t go far from the rest of us when we went out. He had to be around here, somewhere.
“Come on guys.” I heard his voice out of nowhere. I spun around, my boots slipping on the floor. He was standing next to Preston, like he had been there the whole time. He was supporting Louis with his arm.
He was daddy direction for sure.
Before I could even check to see if I had everything on me, Preston asked us all to check our pockets. Louis was already down for the count, leaning lazily against Liam’s side. I made my way over to him, checking his pockets for his phone and his wallet. “Tommo’s good.”
“Got everything!” Niall yelled, throwing his arms into the air. Zayn merely nodded, letting us know he was set as well. I looked over to Liam. He had resorted to picking Lou up, which wasn’t hard since Louis was the smallest of us all. Liam backpacked Louis, which was a sight in itself. After a fit of laughter from the crowd around us and myself, we headed over to the exit, Preston leading the way, then Liam with Louis, Niall and Zayn, then myself. It was best to keep the piss faced ones in the middle so no one got lost.
Since the front entrance to the nightclub was over run by out screaming fans, Preston had made us wait at the back exit on the pavement while he ran to get the car. I wrapped my arms around myself to shield my body from the cold wind that blew through the back alley behind the nightclub. “Where’s the car?” I peeked my head out, further into the alley towards the opening that led to the street. After another minute of waiting in the chilly air, Preston pulled the SUV into the alley and stepped out when he stopped in front of us.
Liam went first, putting Louis inside in the middle row, right behind Preston, who was driving. Zayn and Niall piled into the back. Liam sat in the middle row next to Louis, leaving me to sit in the front passenger seat.
I was glad to be inside the quiet car and away from the thumping bass inside the nightclub. It wasn’t the actual music that bothered me. It was the sheer volume of it. It’s nice to have some quiet time, or even normal volume conversations after being around loud speakers and stage lights at all the shows. I sighed, leaning my head against the cool glass of the window.
“Put those seatbelts on.” Preston barked from the front seat. I hastily put mine on before his death stare made its way towards me. Niall and Zayn groaned in the back. I turned in my seat and gave Liam a look. Liam nodded, turning in his seat and forcing Niall and Zayn to wear their seatbelts. After a few laughs and buckling and unbuckling seatbelts, they finally settled down. Liam got his own seatbelt, and Louis was awake enough to get his as well.
I turned back around in my seat, resuming my blissful moment of silence. My ears were slightly ringing from the music in the nightclub, but they weren’t so bad as I had originally thought they would be. I sighed, watching the nightlife of London rush by. We we’re stuck in a bottleneck, and I saw the reason ahead of us. I sat straight in my seat, looking over the cars in front of us. About ten cars ahead, there was an ambulance.
“That sucks.” Liam mentioned, going back to his texting, most likely to Danielle, his girlfriend. I sat back down in my seat, ignoring the sirens until the traffic cleared out and we were back on out way back to out separate flats. Sometimes I wish that we still lived in the same complex like before. I liked being flat mates with Louis. Everything was fine until the fans got it in their minds that “Larry” was a thing and management told us we had to move elsewhere.
“Hey Tommo.” I called back to Louis, turning in my seat again. My seatbelt nearly choked me, so I pulled it over my head and put the strap behind my back. “Lou-“
“Yeah?” Louis sat up.
“Can I stay at your place tonight?” I asked. My question sparked interest in the back seats of the car. Niall perked up, leaning over Liam’s seat.
“Me too, mate!”
“One stop is better than stopping at everyone’s place. Especially this late.” Zayn sat up in his seat as well, leaning over Louis’. “Plus, Pear’s a tad mad at me now.” I groaned when Zayn said that. He and Perrie would be great for each other if they actually committed to the relationship.
“Payne train?” I looked to Liam, who rolled his eyes at me for the ridiculous nickname.
“I’m in if you stop calling me that.” He chuckled, pocketing his phone. “Danielle is busy anyways. So I’m good with it.
“I guess.” Louis yawned. “Someone gets the floor, though, and Eleanor’s coming over tomorrow too. So one of you guys gets to explain why you are hung over, drooling on my floor.” I nodded at the terms of our agreement. It looked like Louis’ flat for the night.
Suddenly out of nowhere, I could feel Preston’s big arm locking me into the place in my seat. The brakes of our black SUV slammed, the screech on the pavement was deafening. Preston laid on the horn. I watched as Niall, Zayn, Louis and Liam all jolted forward. I would have hit the dashboard if Preston hadn’t held me back.
I could see the terror in Louis and Liam’s eyes as they saw what was going on through the windshield. I was stuck by Preston’s arm, but I turned just to see the headlights coming at us. In that split second of realizing how lucky I was to have a great bodyguard, there was another body shaking jolt.
Then excruciating pain.
