Ahaan and Aadhya were huddled on the couch, wrapped in a blanket, with The Vampire Diaries playing on the TV. Aadhya had practically dragged Ahaan into watching it with her, and though he tried to keep up, he couldn't stop himself from asking questions every few minutes.
"So, wait, why is Stefan brooding again?" Ahaan asked, his brows knitted in confusion.
Aadhya sighed dramatically. "Ahaan, he's always brooding. It's Stefan. That's, like, his thing. Just watch!"
"But—" he began again, but Aadhya shot him a look, clearly trying to keep her patience.
"And why is this Damon guy always lurking around?" he whispered after another minute.
"Because he's Damon," Aadhya replied, half exasperated, half amused. "Just... pay attention, okay? Trust me, you'll like it if you stop questioning everything."
Ahaan smirked, settling back into the cushions, but he couldn't help glancing at her and chuckling. "Alright, alright. If you say so, sis."
They watched in relative peace until a particularly intense scene played out. Aadhya gasped, clutching the edge of the blanket, totally absorbed in the moment. Meanwhile, Ahaan just looked at her in surprise.
"You're way too into this, aren't you?" he teased, poking her side.
Aadhya rolled her eyes. "Shut up! It's called enjoying a show. Maybe you should try it."
As the credits rolled, Aadhya turned to him, eyes gleaming with excitement. "See? Isn't it amazing?"
Ahaan gave a reluctant nod. "Okay, fine, it's... kind of interesting," he admitted, and Aadhya beamed with satisfaction.
Just then, his phone buzzed. Ahaan glanced down to see a text from Samaira.
Samaira: Guess what? I just started watching The Vampire Diaries too!
He grinned, glancing at Aadhya, who was already diving into the next episode. He quickly typed back.
Ahaan: What a coincidence! Aadhya just forced me to watch it with her!
Samaira: Looks like we're both doomed then, haha. Maybe we can have a viewing party sometime?
Ahaan's smile widened. A viewing party with Samaira didn't sound bad at all.
Ahaan: You're on! But be prepared for me to ask a million questions.
Just then, Aadhya nudged him. "Who are you smiling at like that?"
"None of your business," he said, playfully nudging her back.
Aadhya raised an eyebrow but let it go. "Fine, mystery man. Now, let's get back to Damon and Stefan. No more distractions!"
Just as Aadhya was getting comfortable, completely immersed in the next episode, the TV screen suddenly went dark. She blinked, looking around in surprise, only to see Shubman holding the remote with a smug smile, and Sara standing beside him, arms crossed.
"Dad!" Aadhya whined, her voice going up a notch, sounding just like a little kid. "We were watching that!"
"Aadhya, it's way past your bedtime," Shubman replied, barely holding back a chuckle at her pout. "Besides, aren't you two a little too old to be whining over a TV show?"
"But we were at a really good part!" Aadhya protested, looking to Sara for backup. "Mum, please, just one more episode!"
Sara shook her head, trying to keep a straight face. "You've said 'one more episode' about five times already. At this rate, you'll be up all night."
Aadhya let out an exaggerated sigh and turned to Ahaan. "See what I have to put up with?"
Ahaan smirked, enjoying her mini tantrum. "For once, I agree with them. You're turning into a vampire yourself with all these late nights."
Aadhya crossed her arms, pouting even harder. "Traitor," she muttered under her breath.
Shubman chuckled and ruffled her hair. "Alright, Miss Drama Queen. Off to bed, both of you. Tomorrow's a new day, and you need to be fresh."
With a reluctant sigh, Aadhya finally got up, shooting her parents a look that was both annoyed and amused. "Fine, but you owe me an episode tomorrow," she grumbled.
Sara grinned. "We'll see about that. Now, goodnight!"
As she headed down the hallway with Ahaan, Aadhya muttered under her breath, "Parents are the worst sometimes."
Ahaan laughed, giving her a teasing nudge. "You're just mad because you couldn't out-argue Dad. Admit it."
"Never," Aadhya shot back, but she couldn't help laughing too.
As soon as they reached their rooms, Aadhya rolled her eyes and went straight to bed, clearly done with the day. But Ahaan, still curious about all the hype Aadhya had been building around The Vampire Diaries, couldn't resist the temptation. He quietly grabbed his phone and, after a quick search, began watching from where they'd left off.
He had to admit, he was a bit intrigued by the drama and the supernatural storyline, even though he would never tell Aadhya that. Every so often, he found himself raising an eyebrow or smirking as he followed the twists and turns of the episode.
Just as he was getting into it, he heard a quiet knock. Startled, he quickly hid his phone under his pillow and turned to see Shubman peeking into his room.
"Ahaan, still awake?" Shubman asked, narrowing his eyes with a knowing look.
Ahaan tried to act casual, giving a small yawn for effect. "Just... you know... couldn't sleep yet," he muttered.
Shubman crossed his arms, giving him a sly smile. "Right. So you're just lying there, definitely not watching anything on your phone, right?"
Ahaan chuckled sheepishly, realizing he'd been caught. "Fine, maybe I was just... trying to see what all the fuss was about."
Shubman laughed and shook his head. "Alright, but don't stay up too late. You've got practice in the morning. And maybe... you could take notes for Aadhya," he added with a wink.
Ahaan grinned. "Deal. Goodnight, Dad."
As Shubman left, Ahaan resumed his secret binge session, completely engrossed in the show, thinking maybe Aadhya was onto something after all.
Later that night, while Ahaan was still curled up in bed watching The Vampire Diaries, his phone buzzed with a message. It was Samaira, and he couldn't help but smile at the thought of chatting with her. He quickly typed a response.
Samaira: Hey! What are you up to?
Ahaan: Just catching up on some show. Aadhya made me start watching The Vampire Diaries.
Samaira: No way! Are you serious? That's awesome!
Ahaan: I know, I know. Don't laugh, but I'm actually kind of into it. The plot twists are crazy!
Samaira: Haha, I'm not laughing! I love that show! Who's your favorite character so far?
Ahaan: Honestly? I think I'm leaning toward Damon. He's such a badass.
Samaira: Classic choice! But you have to wait and see how things develop. The characters really grow on you, especially when you get deeper into the story.
Ahaan: Aadhya keeps giving me spoilers. She's totally obsessed!
Samaira: She can't help it! It's such a binge-worthy show. Just wait until you meet some of the other characters.
Ahaan: I can't believe how much drama there is. I thought it would just be about vampires, but it's like a soap opera with fangs!
Samaira: Exactly! The drama is half the fun. Just promise me you won't spoil it for Aadhya, okay?
Ahaan: I won't! But I might have to tease her about how much she fangirls over it.
Samaira: That sounds fair! Can't wait to hear your thoughts after you finish the first season.
Ahaan: For sure! You should join me for a marathon sometime.
Samaira: I'd love that! Just promise you'll finish the season first.
Ahaan: Deal! Maybe I'll call you for a Vampire Diaries watch party.
They exchanged a few more messages, laughing and sharing their thoughts about the show, both feeling a warm sense of connection. Ahaan couldn't help but think how nice it was to share this little moment with Samaira, and how their friendship was blossoming into something special.
