I wanted for someone to love me—
to see my worth and to like me.
There were times when I thought
I was not worthy of love.
But, I heard my heart beat
and I knew that I was.

Then, a person came,
vying for my attention.
Telling me that I am worthy
and beautiful on my own.
I tried, yes, I tried,
but it did not feel right
when my heart did not beat
the same rhythm as his
nor did the feeling
of his name leaving my lips.

"Ah, now I know," I have said.
We were meant to meet,
but not meant forever.
We were misplaced puzzle pieces.
Some pieces of us might fit together,
but we were not made to be each other's—our love was not meant to be.
