The devil has taken my wings away
Alone I sat with things on my mind,
along he came all sweet and kind.
With a lovely smile held out his hand,
said share a laugh and be my friend.
Like a cat he had a beautiful grin,
with his sweet talk my head did spin.
He held my hand and made me fly,
higher and higher up in the sky.
Above the clouds, warm sun on face,
I closed my eyes, enjoyed his chase.
I walked on stars touched the moon,
joy in my heart I danced to his tune.
From dizzying heights I suddenly fell,
I came to my senses in a cold hell.
My shoulders hurt, my nose to ground
I called his name, but not a sound.
I finally got up from the cold land,
no one to extend a helping hand.
Like a rag doll my limbs did sway,
my friend had taken my wings away.
Pain in my heart agonisingly grew,
my face wet with tears or with dew.
Calling to him the forests I combed,
alone in the rough terrains I roamed.
I searched for him out in cold snow.
where he went I did not know.
People say, she is lucky to survive,
the devil has left, and she's still alive.
Protest on lips, to ground I crumble,
he is not a devil I weakly mumble.
He made me laugh, my dear friend,
my love for him will never end.
To him I am forever bound,
my blood on knife he carries around.
He has left forever I can not believe,
will never forget him as long as I live.
They call me mad as I go on my way,
I don't care about anything they say.
For his happiness I'll always pray,
The devil has taken my wings away...
my friend has taken my wings away,
my friend has taken my wings away.
