"Thank you," Amethyst said, after which they exited the room and closed the door. Diana smiled at her.

"Thanks for helping me."

Amy nudged her away from the door, and only when they were walking she replied, "Sure thing. He deserved it."

"Abso-fucking-lutely," Diana agreed angrily. "Even if it isn't true. Teacher's shouldn't treat students that way."

"Like you said, So Very hasn't been wrong for a very long time. If it has been wrong at all," said Amy. At that point, they had reached the principal's office, and Diana lifted her hand to knock.

"In," the principal called out. Diana opened the door and went in, Amy following her. She only had been sent out of class once last year, once this year, both times for talking too much, both times with Hannah. Her friend had argued with the principal for a long time, which made Amy believe he hadn't paid much attention to her. Indeed, when he saw them, recognition didn't immediately bloom on his bearded face like it did with Diana.

"Sent out of class?" he asked them, and they both nodded. He sighed. "Again, Diana?"

"Sorry," the girl said guiltily. He gestured to the chairs before his big, dark wooden desk.

"Amethyst Howard, right?" he asked Amy, who nodded.

"So what did you two do?"

Diana and Amethyst exchanged a look, and after a small nod from the other girl, Amy began to talk.

"So, uh... we got sent away by Mr. Johnson. I don't know if you ever have heard from it, sir, but there's this blog, So Very."

"Ah, yes. I have many students come ask me for help. Nothing we can do about it, though."

Amethyst shifted uncomfortably in her chair. How would she ever get this to not sound like some crazy excuse?

"Well, during lunch, something about Mr. Johnson was posted, and we basically called him out."

The principal looked up.

"You asked him about it, or...?"

"I had written a note about it to a friend of mine," Diana continued softly. She knew that that alone, writing notes about teachers, wasn't something he would cheer on.

"And he intercepted it and read it. He then went out of his mind and started calling me stuff."

The principal had stopped looking for a map in the pile on his desk.

"Like?"

"Like bitch and whore."

He nodded once.

"I see. And what did this post say about him?"

Amethyst was already searching for her phone. In a few clicks, she opened the blog post and showed it to him. For a long minute, he read it, his face becoming more somber with every line. Amethyst felt hope come up. Maybe...

"Is this true?" he asked then. Amethyst shrugged. "The blog has never been wrong before. And it's when I said to him that he was acting pretty defensive that he sent me out." That was technically a lie – she had said she wasn't surprised and basically called him a creep – but the principal didn't need to know. This needed to work. She had seen Katie that morning, looking all pale and scared. If Johnson wasn't sent away from this school, Katie would be even less safe. He maybe wouldn't abuse her anymore, with all eyes on him like this, but he would surely suspect her of something.

"You said he got angry before?" the principal asked, as if not believing it.

"Yes. And very defensive," said Amy. He nodded again and repeated, "I see."

He shook his head and wrote something down on a separate piece of paper.

"I will check later how many times you two have been sent out and let you now if there's a sanction."

Amy looked at Diana excitedly, remembered she knew nothing about it and looked down again. The principal seemed extremely distracted. That was a good sign, wasn't it? And indeed, the next day they discovered how big of a mistake Johnson had made by sending them out of class and giving them the chance to speak with the principal.
