12. Their Home

Roohi bathed in silence of the unusually silent house as her tired form entered the house. She frowned looking the empty house which was in contrast to the noisy and fun filled house she had been witnessing in the past two weeks. If it had been her maternal house Roohi wouldn't have felt the pang because it had always been that way but now that her life was changing strangely she was finding peace in the noise and the beauty of chaos. After two decades had she finally felt HOME. That was one another reason that she hesitates to speak the truth because she was afraid to loose. She just didn't wanted to lose the people which were there for her and loved her like their own. The insecurities and fear was so deep rooted that Roohi just didn't realized that she was never going to lose any of her people if she come out with truth.

"Baaki sab kaha gaye hai bhabhi" Roohi found her own voice echoing in her ears as she walked towards a pale looking worried Shweta who was waiting for someone it seems. Shweta turned startled towards her but rushed towards her making Roohi equally worried.

"Kya hua Bhabhi aap itna pareshan kyu lag rahi ho." she question her again afraid of her silence.

Shweta looked at her and started accounting all the happenings that happened in the house while she was absent leaving Roohi shell-shocked. She was angry at her hiding to say the least. Anjali should have come out with the truth in the beginning itself. She wanted bash her but she stopped as her conscience threw a question at her.

Wasn't she doing the same. Hiding things on the name of protecting herself.

Roohi thought back as she realized she was doing exactly what Anjali had done now. No family deserves to know things like that from an outsider but then she was doing exactly same.

Unlike Anju I know what is safe for me her mind argued trying to make peace with her decision.

Even she would have thought the same her heart argued back leaving her in a sea of confusions and dilemma. Was she even right in what she was doing.

"Aa gaye tum log" Shweta's relaxed voice brought Roohi back from her unarranged array of thoughts as she looked back at all the men along with Anjali standing there. Adhvik signed Shweta something before leaving the hall without even greeting her. Seems like someone was really angry. She looked back an equally angry Armaan a image she have witnessed tons of thousands that she just sighed at him . Then she looked at her ever calm Baba who left to his room. Finally her eyes met with Rohit's and she was surprised at the glint of anger in his eyes. Before she could ponder about it he left to their room.

"Roohi tu Rohit ke pass ja yaha main dekh lungi." Roohi merely nodded at her before following Rohit. For the first time after their marriage Roohi felt a sense of concern as she felt the need to check over her husband not wanting him to hurt himself in any way. Not for even a minute did she realized that she was calling Rohit her husband. Their was no love but the mutual respect she felt towards him made her completely his. By marriage it was legally but the two weeks made Roohi his heartily. She might not love him or many not be ready to embrace her role as a wife fully but she knew she would always be there when he nodded her.

"Rohit" he looked back at his worried wife who walked back to him concern prominent in her actions. He don't know what got to him as he walked near her slowly and wrapped his hands around her surprising Roohi for a second. Confused of her actions she stood still only to wrap her hands back when she felt him moving away. Roohi breathed in deeply as she felt melting into her. She gently carressed his back intending to calm him which to a certain extent did. They stood their in the hug for god knows till when. In their first hug.

Rohit felt peace seeping into him as her lavender smell mingled with the air and her soft arms around him calmed his racing heartbeats. The moment was one he would always capture in his heart. The woman in his hands was just perfect for him even without doing anything. He dipped his head into her locks breathing into her smell slightly picking her up. Roohi tilted her head and kept her chin on his shoulders closing her eyes feeling a sense of peace. She was emotionally exhausted but his hug unknowingly was mending all the broken pieces of her heart as for the first time after that life shattering incident she felt for hoping. Hoping for a good beginning away from problems and maybe just with him beside her.

Unknown to them that one hug was a balm to their wounds they have suffered all their life. Their bodies perfectly completing each other like a puzzle piece. They found a home in each other. Their personal home.

They moved apart after few minutes but for the first time neither of the parties where awkward. Unknown to them Rohit had still clutched her hands and even Roohi drew imaginary patterns on his hands.

"Are you fine Rohit" her soft whisper reached his ears as he looked back at her and gave a small nod assuring her but still the strained lines dressed Roohi's forehead. Rohit didn't liked it even a bit she would rather see her lips curve in happiness rather that her brows curving in worry. In a daze he reached out to kiss her worries away but much to his dismay Rohit's eyes flashed with a hurt as he felt her moving away. Roohi looked at the hurt but she let her fears win as she looked away from him. She was not ready for this. Masking his hurt Rohit moved away maintaining a safe distance from her not wanting to upset her further. But the moment he moved away they felt a tug as they looked back at the interlinked hands. But something he saw bought a smile on Rohit's face.

"Kya dekh rahe ho tum Rohit." frowning slightly she tried moving her hands away but stopped realizing her dress thread got hooked with his watch.

"Tum dekh rahi ho yeh thread ka color kya hai." he question her back slowly removing the thread from his watch.

"Red" she unsurely answered him back not getting his chain of questioning.

"Tumhe red chain ka matlab pata hai kya." Rohit asked her the smile not leaving his lips and Roohi shook her head being although more confused.

"There is a saying that two people connected by the red thread are destined lovers, regardless of place, time, or circumstances." he ended his explanation startling Roohi who just looked at his smiling face for a few seconds making sure the words dawned upon her and once it did she looked away feeling something changing in her seeing the eyes which is just hooked upon her whenever she is in the vicinity and the very same pair of eye which is filled up of complete adoration and respect for her. To say Roohi was overwhelmed would be the truth. No man made her feel such things not even Karan as a matter of fact.

"Umm- wh-why don't you go and freshen up main khana garam ka-kar lati hoon." Roohi whispered fumbling all the way making Rohit's smile widen and he just nodded before leaving to get himself freshened up. Roohi left to kitchen to take the food. She knew no one was going to eat together that day and everyone would want some space to collect themselves.

She reached the kitchen when she saw an exhausted Shweta standing there leaning into the wall with her eyes closed. She gently kept her palm above her hands so that she won't just startle.

"Aap thik hai na Bhabhi." Shweta nodded her head and moved to take the food from the oven saving herself from her sister in law and her good friend. She knew exactly what her exhaustion was about but she was just waiting for the confirmation before announcing it to her family. She wanted be sure so that she wouldn't raise there hopes high the reason why she just moved away from the questioning. But Roohi wasn't satisfied she tried asking her about it. Somehow her doctor's instinct which she famously termed as medical syndrome told her that it was a different case altogether. After a lot of persuade Roohi finally left it as she was too tired to ask her more she just left with the food and barged into the door just like she usually does but soon realized that it was a bad move as she saw Rohit standing there with no shirt on. She widened her eyes comically before turning around in a single move messing up with the plates successfully. She however saved the fall but felt her ears turning red in embarrassment. Rohit who saw her cursed himself for not closing the door beforehand. He hurriedly wore the dress with his strained hands which was the result of the fight.

"Ro-Roohi" he stuttered slightly calling out Roohi who gave a side eye before fully turning with still her eyes almost closed. Rohit's stifled his laughter at her child like imitations. Off late he was realizing that there was certainly a child in her who was too scared to come out but even he was determined to make it come out. He don't know what she was hiding but he was sure to make her comfortable so that one day she herself speaks. He can't just wait for that day.

"Tum ankh khol sakti ho Roohi" he sighed as he let out the words making her finally open her eyes one by one making herself sure of the fact that it was all ok and she defiantly can open her eyes. Once she was sure everything is fine she squared herself before walking towards the small table in their room and keeping the plates there . She served for Rohit before leaving for freshening up herself.

"Tum kaha ja rahi ho khana thanda ho jayega." Rohit asked frowning.

"Tum start karlo main freshen up hoke aati ho I can't have the food with dirty hands alright." she left saying so without even giving him the chance to answer her back. He shook his head and decided to wait for her to come back as he let his hands wander through the mini bookshelf Roohi had made in the room. Apparently she loved reading books which to certain extent was good but she was so into the books bigger than his school textbooks giving him a mini heart attacks just by seeing it. According to Roohi she had got this genes from her mother. He smiled as he reached to his favorite book. Her album which she had hid between two books. He had been wandering through them someday before when he got the book which had the memories of the little girl who smiled all through her way. Who was genuinely happy in her little world. She had just her parents as her family but she was more than happy than what she was now. That was what his dream was. To bring that smile back on her.

He found his hands caressing through the little child who was sticking with her father all the while. Her father's princess. He was looking at the happy little family who found peace in themselves. Another thing which he noticed was the adoration that danced in the eyes of the happy couple he had found in a picture posing a dance step. The sheer love in their eyes for each other could not missed out whatever. Apparently from what he had heard Arohi Birla and Neil Birla were a couple who loved each other like anything. A couple who found peace in each other and did everything they could for each other. He wished that one day he and Roohi would share such a bond. He looked at the stars which Roohi claims to be her parents and found out the shinning pair which were near each other and he silently wished for something he don't know he could ever get.

'Roohi ki Matashree and Paashree I promise mere liye hamesha aap ki princess ki smile important hogi. Wo aap ki princess bhale hi hogi Paashree lekin I will make sure she will be the queen that she is. Saath khade hoke nahi toh raste key kaatoon ko hata keh hi sahi I will make sure she would get the best because she deserves the best. I know I am not the best for her but I promise to be better.'

He kept the album back as he heard the sound of the twisting knob as he looked back at Roohi who came out of the bathroom looking as fresh as a bloomed flower.

"Tumne abhi tak khaya nahi kya" she asked him seeing the food still left in the plate. Rohit nodded his head negatively.

"I was waiting for you" he replied her and Roohi again felt overwhelmed. It was normally her who made sure her family had her food but the guy here was taking care of her. That was new to her but she stood her ground despite her feeling controlling her mind. She nodded her head before sitting back and serving food to herself and signed him to sit back which he dutifully did. Then they had there food in silence which spoke more than words ever could.

None of them knew what was going to happen next but they sat there trying to leave behind the past they dreaded to embrace a new beginning together promising a tale of bittersweet forever .
