30. A Girl I Know

Flowers blossom
A beautiful explosion
Birth of a soul awesome
A teary salutation.

Newborn entered
the world unknown
In a one-room flat
she had grown
Everywhere only
happiness sown
Darkness she had never
known.

But soon her life became
a devil's dome
When her family shifted to
a new home
No, it is not a story
of scary ghosts
shrieking down the gloam
Yet when you'll hear it,
you'll wish to drown.

A new home
meant a new school
She thought it would be cool
Three years spent and
she realized she had been a fool
To think that the world wasn't surrounded by ghouls.

A quiet girl
Bullied in a swirl
A quiet girl
Denied the opportunity
she should furl.

First, second, third grade
came and went
All she remembered
were the tears she spent
Still she couldn't resent
All those who had hurt
her sentiment.

Parents said
she was too meek
She was determined
to show them she wasn't weak
So she didn't speak
About the tears
which rolled down her cheek.

She began to live
a life of solitude
A life always lived to elude
People's voices trying
to intrude
The innocent heart had
so much pain accrued.

Life went on
And when she decided
to move on
Darkness began to lean on
Taking her grandfather away
from her at dawn.

An accident
Parents began to lament
Wishing her to be nonexistent
The quarrels, the hateful words, finally left a dent.

One year later,
the dent had hidden
Yet she still couldn't listen
Their love unwritten
Every night
leaving her eyes swollen.

Fed up of the tear
Fed up of the fear
Of never finding her parents near
She finally decided to let go of the rear.

But the angel whispered
And the light flickered
The devil still lingered
Yet after that she never quivered.

The year was twenty-eighteen
Now it's twenty-nineteen
And the girl is fourteen
She is still trying to mend the broken screen.

The world doesn't know her
But I do
And a hero she is
I concur.
