if i can breathe, im fine

MADELYN AND DEAN were fighting in the training room. Dean had wanted to see how she would do in a fight with her new found magic that is unpredictable. He just wants to make sure that she can handle her own and not explode so easily when out in the world. Being a hunter means keeping your head on straight, and not to react emotionally to everything — or else someone ends up hurt.

"Oh, come on, red!" He exclaimed, lips twitching up into a smile as she huffed loudly and flung a right hook at his face. He dodged and bounced on the balls of his feet, grinning widely. "You missed." He balled his hands into fists, circling her now. "Come on. I know you can do better than this, Mads."

"Will you shut up?" She grunted as she dodged a kick he sent her side. She caught his fist that was aiming for her face, twisting it, pulling his arm over her shoulder, bending her knees, and tossing him over her shoulder onto the mat. "Aw," she clicked her tongue, standing up fully, "come on, Dean-O, I know you can do better than this," she taunted, smirking as he grunted while pulling himself into a standing position.

"You're just throwing my words back at me," he stated, grumbling, beginning to circle her again, "and it's not fair."

She 'awed', pouting, "poor Dean-O can't handle being a hypocrite, huh?" She laughed as she dodged two punches that he aimed at her stomach, and then catching his foot and twisting it before throwing him off balance. "You have to do better than this."

"I'm going easy on you, rookie," he said and narrowed his eyes when she just laughed. "Why won't you believe what the voodoo crazy woman said?"

Maddie pursed her lips, nails digging into her palms as she tries to rein in her annoyance and anger. This wasn't what they agreed on doing; Dean said that they were just here to train and not to talk about what they had learned about the day before. But no, here he is, beginning up the one subject she doesn't want to talk about.

"Come on, lil' red, we have to talk about it eventually," he stated, dodging a heavy blow that she sent his way, bouncing away from her fist and then ducking and rolling to avoid the butterfly kick she sent. "Ignoring it isn't going to go away."

She practically growled when she spun around and elbowed him in the stomach, grabbing his arm, and twisting it. He yelped and elbowed her in the nose, reeling her backwards slightly which gave him enough time to send a punch in her abdomen that had her falling to the floor.

She glared up at him, jumping up immediately to circle. "Oh, like you're ignoring the fact that you abandoned Cas in a place full of monsters that want him dead? Or... how about the fact that you had to kill your vamp buddy to get Sam out of said monster brimmed hell-space? You know... Dean... you can't tell me to accept this when you won't even accept the fact that you're in love with—" she groaned when he kicked her stomach, she fell backwards, but caught herself, rolling and then springing back up, almost too fast for Dean to comprehend

"Oh, that's it," she spat, sending an upswing hook to his jaw. Dean dropped to the floor, eyes full of disbelief, but there was also anger and satisfaction. She narrowed her eyes and went to stomp down on his leg when he rolled out of the way, sending a kick to the back of her knee. She buckled. She fell to her hands and knees; she pushed herself into a handstand, and twisted her body, sending a kick to Dean's chest.

"Fuck!" He shouted, falling back down to the mat. "God damn, Mads, you're crazy!"

She shoved against the ground — still in handstand form — and then did a full body twist and roll in the air before landing on her feet. She lifted her head, hair flipping, breath heavy, chest heaving up and down.

Dean groaned as he pushed himself into a standing position, just five feet away from Maddie, also breathing heavily. "You want to talk about love lives now?" He rose his brows. "Because we can do that, if you want. Should we talk about the fact that you fell in love with a vampire. A goddamn fairy light, if you will." He suppressed the smile from his face at the image that popped in his head, and watched as Maddie's facial expression changed. She was annoyed, but now she's furious. "Or should we talk about the werewolf boy that could barely leave your side when Sam and I went to pick you up?"

Dean knew this was going to be a low blow, but he also needs to test her limits, make sure she can handle anything out in the fields. Enemies love to use weaknesses against them in fights, wanting to get them to lower their guards. So, this is why he said, "is this your way of trying to move on from Jo? Cause' let me tell you, kiddo, she wouldn't like the fact you've been shacking it up with a bunch of—"

Dean's words were cut off by the fact that his whole body was lifted off of the ground. His eyes widened in both fear and amazement when he saw a spark of red in Maddie's eyes, a few nicknacks floating in the air around her. He was suddenly tossed backwards into the wall. A thud was heard as he fell to the floor, panting loudly.

She stormed off to her room after Dean said "Damn, girl." Words echoing around her head.

She screamed in rage as she bursted through her door, slamming the door with her magic. Everything in her room, including the bed, and as slammed around against the walls, causing a tornado of inanimate objects.

Maddie broke down, falling to her knees, clutching her heat tightly as she sobbed.

Everything was changing fast and without her permission. First, she was imprinted on and ended up falling for him too, and now she was almost sacrificed by her so-called mother, and now has powers beyond her control.

It's like when she's finally getting a grasp on her life, on happiness, it slips right between her fingers once again when something new and terrifying pops up.

But, maybe those powers were already there, because yes, whether she wants to admit it or not, there was a lot of weird occurrences since she had turned sixteen, more more recently than she would like to admit.

She remembers when Jane Volturi had tried to use her powers on her; it had worked, but briefly. Something had popped in her mind, she remembers. The pain was harsh but brief, static had filled every being of her body. She felt it, she had felt raw power laying beneath her skin, wrapping around her like an amour.

She looked up, dark eyes rimmed red, tears slowly skidding down her cheeks, but her jaw was clenched, and then her eyes narrowed.

She was going to get a hang of these new powers and she's going to make sure she's no longer a danger to her friends and family.

She stood up slowly, turning to face the door to her room, jaw clenching and unclenching. She nodded to herself and walked out of her room, back to the training area.

Dean turned around from where he was doing push-ups, raising a brow at her. "You ready now, kiddo?"

The redheaded nodded. "I'm ready to accept it."

He smiled. "Come on, let's get back to training."

And just like that, a new era began for Madelyn Swan-Winchester.
