Cendrillon ~ A LuckyShipping AU Concept ~

U-Um, for clarification...when thinking about this concept, I had no interest in LuckyShipping at all. I just couldn't write the story I wanted to with the characterizations I have for Green or Yellow...so it turned into LuckyShipping.....which turned into a big AU. But I'll only share this one concept (unless you guys want to see more!). Don't expect too many other LuckyShipping stories from me, unless it is a request...!

If anyone is interested in this AU, I'll gladly run down the concepts...I have everything planned from Kanto/Johto to XY... (The ships get kinda messy except the ones I refuse to split apart (for example, Frantic).)

I hope everyone enjoys!

Warning: There is a non-graphic death in this story!

It was an extravagant night. The yearly festival just occurred in the tiny village of Pallet Town. The new king had just taken the throne, meaning there is a new queen and prince. And that prince is the target of this little scheme.

Blue finishes applying the last bit of makeup. She snaps the small container of blush that also holds a mirror closed with one fluid motion. Feeling good about herself, she stands up quickly with a tiny grin.

When the girl was about to fall, her surrogate brother Silver puts a gloved hand to her shoulder. "Don't get reckless," he mutters softly. Finally sparing her a glance, the boy scoffs. "Why are you getting dolled up, anyway?"

"Why, Silver dear," Blue starts with a raised finger and a wink, "this is our big chance! Seduce the prince with my womanly charms and then... And then...!"

"You kill him."

Blue brushes her hand against the scabbard on her right lower calf. Inside the protective leather is her favored dagger. To hide the weapon, the poor girl made sure to request a dress with frills. (Thankfully, her donor Sabrina supplied her with the best of the best.) A chill of anticipation runs down her spine.

"Precisely."

The rest of the carriage ride is silent. Blue is not used to wearing makeup, usually resorting to steal just the necessities, so she did not want to accidentally smear it. Silver just did not want to be at the post-masquerade gala in the slightest, despite the countless possibilities and opportunities it led to.

The makeshift assassin grins to herself again. This plan is fool-proof!

-

"Why are we here again?"

Surprisingly, it was Blue who spoke these words.

Silver raises an eyebrow. "Too boring for you?"

That statement could not be any more truthful. The waiting line was huge. It took them an hour just to get in. An hour. Once inside the palace, albeit late, everyone was already scattered about in their little...groups. Neither king nor queen made any announcements to the group about the ceremonial dance. If Blue didn't know how to decipher human emotions better, she would say it had already happened and the pair failed their first ever assignment.

The girl that got questioned gives him a blank stare. "Of course not," the lie slips across her tongue way too easy. "Just thinking about the plan is all!"

"And the plan is making you question why you're here?" Just like her brother to be skeptical of absolutely everything. How boring. She gives him a look and adjusts her masquerade mask.

"Just..." Blue's words die away as she scans the area. Her eyes wander to a group of kids around her age that look rich. Spiky brown hair, yellow hair tied into a pigtail underneath a hat (she has pulled that scam one too many times to have the wool pulled over her own eyes), some weird gelled hair, blue twin tails that defied gravity, and a masked stranger with the most crimson eyes she has ever seen. Her eyes lit up immediately. "Hey, Silvy?"

His eyes meet hers with a glare. "I told you to stop calling me that-."

"Look over there! Some rich folk seem to be having a pleasant chat," the brunette smirks while putting her gloved hand to her face. She leans closer to Silver and narrows her eyes like how she does when she gets a plan. "Why don't you try and pickpocket them for some quick cash?"

The red head is shocked for around point three seconds. "W-What, me?" he uncharacteristically stutters. "Whenever I try to steal something, I always get caught."

"And that's exactly why I'm coming with you! I'll distract the group while you do your thing!"

Blue's brother freezes again while digesting the makeshift plan. After wasting more precious minutes than what was necessary, he finally says, "All right."

"Ya-hoo! Come on!"

That was Blue's first mistake of the night. At the exact time the stranger of crimson met her own ocean blue eyes, the clock struck the chime for the next hour. Nine o'clock. As the chimes resonated throughout the building and mingled with the other guests' noise, Blue felt herself stop moving. What was happening?

The stranger clad in a suit that somehow looked good unbuttoned and those cursed crimson eyes seemed to be in the same trance. If they were outside, the wind would have blown in Blue's hair and cause some sort of shoujo-manga scenario to occur. She is positive it would happen. Everyone else in the crowded room just...disappeared.

"Blue? We need to go." Silver snapped her out of the weird fantasy. "C'mon."

"Right."

Taking confident strides, she gets up close to the crimson eyed stranger. The other four people stared at her in shock. Blue suddenly felt very self conscious about the dagger attached to her slim leg.

The brunette didn't have time to even open her mouth before the masked stranger bowed and presented an outstretched hand. Blue put her right hand to her mouth and her left hovered awkwardly over his right.

"Good evening, Lady in Blue. My name is Red," says the crimson eyed stranger. Blue quickly glances around at his companions. They all seemed...shocked, to say the least. "Can I ask for your name and your hand for this dance?"

His voice was like music to her ears. She is sure that Red would make her melt at any given time, which is not good; not according to plan. She chances looking over at Silver, but he seems to have made friends with the weird hair gel kid and the girl with two gravity defying pigtails.

So she is on her own, huh?

Blue takes a deep breath. She had a mantra memorized, but she nearly all but forgot almost every word. "Princess Blue of the Sevii Islands," she speaks rather calmly for someone put in her situation. Not before adjusting her real-looking tiara, she chances putting her left hand in his right, no longer feeling as awkward. "You may have this dance!"

One little dance wouldn't hurt anyone, right?

Wrong. This was the second mistake she made that night. Red's hand felt nice, warm, secure... Right away when they made contact, another shiver went down her spine, but it wasn't from the anticipation to kill. It was...like what she has read in the lovey-dovey novels she used to adore when she was an innocent girl.

Oh, right, kill... That was the original plan, wasn't it...?

Red can have this dance, and then she can await the announcement of the prince's arrival and try to seduce him, right? The queen and king just haven't announced the dance that ensures the fate between the prince and an individual, and until that is done, she can have her way with this Red person, right?

Third mistake. They danced for longer than one song. One song turned to two, two to three, three to five...and so on. Blue didn't realize time was passing as fast as she did, so when she decided to chance looking at Silver to see his disappointment, she was met with a shocking sight.

Hiding her proud smile by moving in closer to Red's chest, she watched as Silver downed some sort of fizzy drink and the gel hair guy laughing as the twintailed girl likely was annoyed (masks make it hard to see eyebrows, though her self-taught psychology lessons could tell her what she needs to know) at whatever antics he pulled. Silver was having fun. He actually made friends outside of their sibling pact, and...

Blue hugged Red closer to her to hide her tears of happiness.

Eventually, he led them to the balcony. Glancing at the clock, Blue nearly froze. Eleven o'clock. Why hasn't the king and queen made their speech yet? Surely Silver would have been listening subtly, so it isn't possible they missed it.

Fourth mistake occurred once they reached the balcony. Red and Blue sat down to talk to one another.

Blue forgot about the mission altogether during the nice chat...until she saw Silver glaring her way and pointing his gaze to the clock. Eleven thirty. Only thirty more minutes until she fails her first ever assignment, not to mention her first ever real mission. Phooey.

"Ah! Sorry to interrupt, dear," the brunette secretly enjoyed the way the pet name caused the masked stranger to lightly blush, "but do you happen to know what has happened to the prince?"

A flash of hurt crosses his eyes for a split second. "The prince? Didn't the queen announce that they couldn't find him an hour ago?"

"Oh...she did?"

Red's eyes shift to the side. If Blue wasn't too focused on the mission, now of all times, she would have heard what was needed in order to complete the mission. "Maybe."

Blue giggled nervously. This is not how things were planned to go. It's nearing the time, and...

"Hey, don't be scared," Red put his hand calmly on top of Blue's jittery ones. "That rumor about the prince and his ball date is ridiculous anyway, right?"

Blue should have done more research about the previous post-galas. This one seems almost...unprofessional. Has that ever happened in Kanto-Johto history? She giggles again. "Yeah..."

"It was really nice getting to know you, by the way."

"...yeah, you, too!"

It was silent for a few minutes longer. Blue wanted to cry. Silver was finally away from his new friends and it looked like he wanted to murder her. This was not what was supposed to happen.

Finally, Red took a shaky breath. "Hey, Blue?"

Blue swallowed, trying to get her voice back. She didn't want to sound weak in front of this...this majestic man. "What's up?"

"I haven't been...entirely honest with you," Red explains, reaching for his mask. The way his eyes stared into hers so confidently made her certain he knew her true identity. After all, the real Princess Blue of the Sevii Islands has been missing for quite some time. It is said they are still looking for her... "Let me tell you a secret..."

This is it. Her reputation as one of the best thieves of Kanto is over. And apparently so is her newfound assassin title.

He slowly takes off his mask after inching forward as close as he can to her face. "I am the prince," he whispers. "Prince Red of the Kanto and Johto regions."

Blue wanted to move, wanted to say something, but how could she? She knew what the prince generally looked like, sure, but the thing is...he wasn't too big on paparazzi and preferred sparring with some guy named Gold, so it was almost impossible to tell... Even her tactics of getting information didn't work that well...

Red leans in the rest of the way for a kiss, and Blue doesn't stop him. Nor does she reciprocate, for the stroke of midnight came. She quickly sprang back from Red.

Red looked dejected again. "Was that not-?" Red stands up quickly, looking ready to flee himself. "I'm sorry, you just gave me the idea that-!"

"It was not in my plans to be seduced by the prince instead!" Blue discreetly gets the dagger from the scabbard by making it seem like she is adjusting her heels. "Shall we share one final dance, Sir Red?"

Red finally calms down and smiles. "We shall, Madam Blue."

They danced and twirled their hearts out. Blue couldn't recall a time when she felt happier. This experience even beats the time she escaped from that man who shall not be named with Silver...

However, when Red started pulling away, Blue impulsively stuck the dagger into his chest, not quite nearing his heart. She didn't want to do it. In fact, she hated the fact she did so with no hesitation. What they had...what she felt...it...it was...

She looked on as Red started to kneel down. After a few more seconds, he couldn't even bear that weight, so he collapsed to the ground, bleeding out. Though, he did...not look mad. Blue takes a step closer and, trying her best to hide the melancholy in her eyes, sneered down at him. Her next words were monotonous, almost like a shell of her former self.

"I'm so sorry, Sir Red... I wished that moment could last forever, yet, it was not meant to be."

"I wished...the same." He closed his eyes, likely bleeding to death with a small smile on his face.

Blue walks over to the balcony, takes one last look at Prince Red, and started crawling over the top, not noticing the fleeing figure as Silver came beside her. Taking her bloodied glove in his pure, pristine one, they jump off the balcony, together.

They obviously survived, Silver having surveyed the area before hand and letting Blue know the perfect escape plan. It was mere serendipity that made Red choose the exact balcony needed for a quick and easy escape.

"You did what was best for us."

Us... Her heart beat echoes in her ears. "Yeah, you're right~"

"You sure played your part well, though. I didn't expect that fool to be the prince."

Neither did she. "It was easy to tell! He was way too formal to be a common folk~" Especially the elegant and intricate mask... That is, the mask she stole before jumping away. She starts stripping off her gloves.

"I thought he was just trying to make a good first impression."

They look at each other and share a laugh. Like the one they had shared.

After their laughter subdued and the sirens started becoming background noise, Blue lets out a shuddering breath, holding back tears.

"We need to go, now," Silver informed the obvious, tightening his hold on his sister's hand as they ran as fast as they could.

While they were running, Blue finally realized...

What she had felt was love.
