My eyes widened as Eijirou and I turned the corner of the hallway, that led up to the conference room.
"More heroes?" I asked in shock, upon seeing a bunch of new heroes outside the door, talking to each other.
"Yeah. This is pretty crazy, huh? Just what is this mission all about?" Eijirou asked me quietly, as we slowly made our way inside the meeting room.
"I don't know. I wonder why Aizawa wanted me to hide my villain identity. I don't see anyone here who would really care if—" I started saying, before a familiar chirpy voice cut me off.
"Margo! Kirishima!" Uraraka exclaimed from behind us, causing Eijirou and I to quickly turn around.
I felt my heart jump up my throat in slight panic, as I quickly hugged Eijirou's sweatshirt tighter to my body....trying to make sure I was completely covered now.
"Ochako!" I called back in shock, seeing Tsuyu pop up from behind her.
"Ribbit, Margo-chan." She greeted.
More UA students!?
Well, no worries. I mean, it looks like it's just those two—
"Hey, Margo! Kirishima! You guys got places to do your work studies, too!?" Midoriya asked excitedly.
Well, not exactly.
"Oh! Um, well Kirishima is working with Fat Gum." I quickly said, trying to get the attention off me.
"Kirishima! That's awesome. Who are you working with, Margo?" Midoriya asked, his smile beaming.
Well, since you asked, I'm working undercover at the league of villains, trying to take down Overhaul- an even more dangerous guy you don't know about.
"Hah! Who am I working with!? W-Well, let's see." I said nervously, trying to stall time.
Eijirou jumped in now, trying to help me out.
"Oh! Margo's working with....uh—" he started saying, quickly looking around the room for a name.
"Me. She's working with me." Aizawa casually said, coming in to our conversation.
Thank you, Mr. Aizawa.
"Right!" I quickly said in agreement.
"Mr. Aizawa, I didn't know you were taking work study students. You don't even have an agency!" Ochako said in confusion.
"Since Margo is a little behind the coursework, I figured this would be a good way for her to earn some extra credit. That's all it is." Aizawa simply shrugged.
"I see." Midoriya said in understanding.
Eijirou jumped in now, a sudden light bulb going off in his head.
"Wait a minute. If you guys are here, does that mean you know about Overhaul—" he began asking cluelessly, before Aizawa's scarf slapped over his mouth and dragged him backwards.
"Margo, you come with me too." Aizawa called out, dragging Eijirou, by his face, to the corner of the room.
"It was good talking to you guys! I'll see you soon." I smiled, ignoring their confused faces at the situation.
I quickly followed Mr. Aizawa to the corner, watching Eijirou gasp for air from his scarf.
Aizawa quickly released Eijirou now, standing him up straight.
"What's going on?" I whispered to Aizawa, ignoring Eijirou's coughs for air.
"Well, to answer your question, Kirishima...no. Midoriya, Ochako, and Tsuyu do not know about Overhaul. Yet." Aizawa sighed, running a hand through his hair.
"Yet?" Eijirou asked in confusion.
"Yes. The purpose of today's meeting is so Nighteye can get a feel for the possible heroes and students who would be apart of this mission. Midoriya has already been accepted at Nighteye's agency as a work study student. But, even he doesn't know about Overhaul just yet, neither do Amajiki and Hado of The Big Three." Aizawa explained, gesturing to the two third years who were talking to Mirio.
"So you're saying...that if Nighteye thinks these people are reliable, he will tell them about the mission to take down Overhaul?" I clarified, looking back over at Midoriya and the others.
This means that more people would be in danger from this mission. Specifically, my friends.
"Yes. Then, we will need to work on simultaneously hiding your villain identity from them, while still taking down Overhaul at the same time." Aizawa groaned out, clearly not a fan of these events.
Eijirou furrowed his brows in confusion, not understanding.
"Wait a minute, don't you think it's important for Midoriya and the others to know about Margo's truth, since we'll all be working together?" He asked quietly.
Aizawa simply shook his head.
"The more people who know about Margo's true identity, the more danger it presents for them. We need to keep this as quiet as we can. For now, Margo, you're just a regular UA student, posing as my work study protege. Got it?" He asked, waiting for an audio response from Eijirou and I.
"Got it." We said simultaneously.
"Good. Now, go make friends with the other heroes. The real meeting will begin, once the new heroes and other UA students leave." Aizawa mumbled, nudging Eijirou and I off dismissively.
"An undercover mission, inside another undercover mission? Sounds like this could get a little messy." Eijirou whispered to me, slightly uneasy.
He's right. Now, on top of trying to stop Overhaul, I had the task of making sure my UA friends, these new heroes, and Tamaki and Nejire of The Big Three didn't know who I really was.
I simply nodded, surprised that this situation could actually become more complicated.
.......
After a long hour of talking about nonsense, it was finally time for the real meeting.
Sir Nighteye ushered all unnecessary heroes and UA students out of the conference room for the day, before returning to the original group.
"Okay, now that Margo has finally returned everyone's phone calls, announcing she's alive, let's get down to business." Sir Nighteye groaned, shooting me a glare.
"Hah. Damn kids and their stupid cellphones. They ask, and ask for that crap and then never actually answer it when you call them." Rock Lock scoffed.
"It wasn't like that." I groaned out, trying to defend myself.
"I-I think you should cut her some slack. You were here for the Overhaul investigation. This girl's already been through a lot." Bubble Girl defended, starting to argue with Rock Lock.
Suddenly, I heard Mirio giggle from next to me, before lightly nudging my side.
"I know where you were last night." He whispered, his cheeks turning slightly red at the thought.
My eyes widened, as I quickly yanked him closer to me, trying to find out what he knew.
"No, you don't." I hissed out, feeling my own cheeks heating up.
"Hehe, you were in Kirishima's room, getting it on like a bunch of—" he laughed out, before I quickly slapped my hand over his mouth.
"Will you stop following me already?! And why is it that you always seem to catch me when I'm hooking up?!" I whispered out, raising my brow at him in annoyance.
I felt Mirio continue laughing from under my hand, before Sir Nighteye interrupted.
"If you two are quite done, I'd like to get on with what I was saying." Sir stated firmly, calling Mirio and I out in front of everyone.
Mirio and I quickly straightened up, as I removed my hand from his mouth at lightning speed.
"Sorry." We both said.
"As I was saying, here are the next steps. Margo, because of my foresight, I saw that you will have a successful future. But, in this future, Kirishima Eijirou was present. This means that from here on out, you and Kirishima will be working together, in order to maximize the success of this future happening. I trust this won't be a problem, right?" Sir Nighteye asked, slightly rolling his eyes as he knew it wouldn't be a problem.
"No problem!" Eijirou and I said, looking at each other excitedly.
"Good. Starting tomorrow....Kirishima, Fat Gum, and Tamaki Amajiki of the Big Three will be on a patrol in the city. Margo, you will be present, in order to be around Kirishima. Fat Gum is aware of this. But, remember...according to Amajiki and Fat Gum, you are a regular UA student, just popping in on the work study." Sir Nighteye said, nodding his head slightly.
"Wait, a minute. I have a question." Eijirou suddenly said...raising his hand, like we were in class.
Sir Nighteye let out an exasperated sigh, resting his hands on the table.
"So, speak it young man. You don't need to hold your hand up like we're in school." Sir Nighteye scoffed, throwing his hands up in frustration.
"Ah! Right, sorry! My question is that Margo's supposed to be undercover, in order to take down the league of villains and Overhaul. But, the league of villains and Overhaul think she is still on their side. Won't this compromise the mission, if Margo works with team Fat Gum?" Eijirou asked, tilting his head to the side in confusion.
Aizawa butted in now.
"Yes, that's where I come in. Margo, I understand that in a public place, like a city...you can't use your quirk on thousands of people to manipulate how they see your face. I have a costume for you that the league of villains won't recognize. It covers your face, too. Just don't be seen without your mask, in case there are spies." Mr. Aizawa said, giving me a nod of reassurance.
Everyone looked to me now, waiting for an answer.
"Great. Thank you, everyone. Um, I just have one question..." I said quietly, already feeling my heart beat picking up at my next words.
Everyone waited patiently for me to continue, seeing I was nervous.
"I-Is....Is there any word from The Hassaikai? From Overhaul?" I asked blankly, realizing Kai Chisaki was still a weakness for me.
He still scared me.
Sir Nighteye studied my face, before letting out a tired sigh.
"I've been tracing some phone calls from Chisaki. Your name....has come up, from him, several times, Margo. The man is very interested in you. I assume he will try to arrange things in his favor, to where he can meet you again. Be prepared for it, and we will, too. We'll try to have your back next time. I apologize that we didn't do a good job, last time you met up with Chisaki. That situation wasn't fair to you." Sir Nighteye said softly, shocking me with his apology.
I looked around the room, seeing some of the other heroes nod to me in apology and respect.
I couldn't say I wasn't surprised. No more than a few days ago, some of these heroes were looking at me in judgment and dislike.
Maybe after witnessing what happened to me, with Overhaul...I've finally gained their trust.
I took a deep breath, before turning to Sir Nighteye now.
"Alright. Let's do this." I stated confidently.
