First Impressions
"Excuse me, ma'am? Can you point me in the direction of the classroom 1-A?" I asked sweetly, trying to act as innocent as possible.
My heartbeat began picking up as the teacher looked at me curiously.
Damn, she's pretty much wearing lingerie to school. They allow that here!?
"Hmm, I've never seen you around here before. Are you a transfer?" The black haired teacher asked.
I began chuckling nervously now, awkwardly shuffling back and forth.
"Y-Yeah! Today's my first day. I'm really....nervous." I replied with a smile, waiting for the teacher to point me in the direction of the classroom.
Jeez, Shigaraki. Way to pick the worst possible liar, for a job that's completely based on a lie.
I was getting ready to use my quirk on the suspicious woman, when she finally spoke up again.
"Oh! Classroom 1-A! I teach history for that class. That's right. I totally forgot we were expecting a new transfer student today. It was all very sudden. Sorry for the trouble. You can call me Midnight!" The teacher said, a giant smile gracing her face now.
I let out a silent breath of relief, as Midnight gave me the instructions to the classroom 1-A.
"Thank you so much, Midnight. I look forward to having you as my teacher!" I said, trying to sound as kind as possible.
"Ohhh! You're so cute and youthful! I hope your first day is amazing!" Midnight cooed, strutting off and leaving me alone in the hallway.
My mind began replaying the conversation with Shigaraki and Dabi, as I slowly walked down the hallway to the classroom.
"You want me to what!?" I asked in disbelief.
"It's perfect, Margo! You go in to UA, undercover as a student, but a spy for us! You can tell us everything that's going on in there!" Shigaraki exclaimed, as he shook my shoulders gently.
He was careful to keep two fingers lifted, to make sure he didn't disintegrate me.
"I-I don't know. I mean, isn't UA one of the hardest schools in the world to get into? I was never.....allowed to go to a real school. I don't have any transcripts, any recommendations, or experience." I tried reasoning.
If I were being totally honest, I wasn't comfortable with this in the slightest.
"Have you learned nothing since you've been here!? I have connections on the inside! I can easily get you into that school. That's not the hard part. The hard part is gonna be making sure you can pull it off." Shigaraki retorted, pacing the room again.
Shit, I was making him anxious. That's never good.
I grit my teeth in anxiety, forcing myself to comply.
"Um, okay. I'll do it, I guess." I mumbled unenthusiastically.
Shigaraki stopped pacing the room, slowly trailing his eyes to me.
I felt my heartbeat start picking up, as he walked over.
Oh no, I made him mad.
Shigaraki came inches away from my face, making me swallow thickly.
"Margo......are you going to disappoint me?" Shigaraki threatened lowly. His voice held a tone, dripping with acid.
"Shigaraki, lay off." Dabi threatened back, walking over to us now.
Shigaraki quickly placed four fingers on me now, causing Dabi to stop in his tracks.
"Nuh-uh-uh, Dabi. I wouldn't come any closer." Shigaraki sang, giggling softly.
Wow, one more finger and I'd be dead. Should I use my quirk on Shigaraki?
"I know what you're thinking Margo. You're thinking about whether or not to use your quirk on me. The problem is, I overpower your quirk. I've been dealing with pain and fear my whole life. You think I won't be able to decay you, anyway? Think again, child. My quirk is quicker than yours. Don't believe me? Try it." Shigaraki threatened.
The room was filled with tense silence, before Shigaraki spoke again.
"You know, you've been here three months. What have you done for me since you've been here? You haven't participated in any jobs. You haven't killed anybody for me. You barely use your quirk to get information out of people. What's your use to me?" Shigaraki scoffed, tilting his head to the side in mock curiosity.
I remained quiet, thinking about his words. He had a point. I really haven't done anything since I've been here.
"Something holding you back?" Shigaraki whispered.
"I-I said I'll do it. I'll pose as a UA student, and I'll do it well, to your liking." I croaked out in a raspy tone.
Shigaraki glared at me for a few more seconds, before his attitude took a complete 180.
"Good. That's what I was hoping you'd say, Margo." Shigaraki said lightly, strutting over to the phone to make some calls.
"You okay?" Dabi muttered, walking over to me now.
"Yeah." I mumbled quietly, not really wanting to talk right now.
"Remember, Margo. This is an easy job. Act like a sweet, innocent girl and you'll be fine." Shigaraki called, before speaking into the phone.
I arrived at the door to the 1-A classroom. I faintly heard the sound of someone speaking from the other side.
Probably the teacher.
I did my best to calm my fast beating heart, taking a deep breath, before I slowly opened the door.
All eyes immediately landed on me, as I hesitantly walked into the classroom.
It was complete awkward silence, as I walked over to the teacher.
I hated all this attention on me.
"Um....hi. I'm the new student." I mumbled to the teacher, shooting him a small smile.
The teacher looked at me, narrowing his eyes slightly. He looked like he hasn't slept in days.
"Margo. Right?" The teacher asked quietly, never taking his eyes off me.
"Yep, that's me!" I stated confidently. At least that part was true.
"Good then. I'm Mr. Aizawa. Go take your seat, and start taking notes. You're already very behind." Mr. Aizawa mumbled, barely shooting me a second glance now.
I nodded, quickly making my way to the empty seat in the back.
Wow, so this is what a real school looks like, huh? There's so many windows. So much light. A lot different from the 'homeschool' I went through...if you can even call it that—
"Hey, did you hear me?" Someone whispered from next to me.
I quickly looked over, seeing a spiky, red haired boy grinning at me eagerly.
"What?" I called out dazedly, hearing a few people shush me.
The red haired boy softly laughed at my obliviousness, repeating his question.
"I said if you ever feel like you're behind in school, I'm always around to help. N-Not that I'm a great student myself, but...you know, thought I'd offer." The red haired boy whispered again, grinning sheepishly.
I couldn't help but smile at his innocence. He seemed sweet.
"Thanks. I...might take you up on that." I whispered back.
His smile only got wider upon hearing my words, before he quickly turned his attention back to the front.
I did the same, about to start taking some notes. I mean, if I was gonna stay here...I better not get kicked out for bad grades, right?
And that's when I realized....I didn't even have a pencil.
Damn, Shigaraki. He took me school shopping yesterday.....but we ended up getting distracted, and spent all of our time in Hot Topic instead.
I cringed slightly in regret, hesitantly turning to the red haired boy again.
"H-Hey..." I whispered, trying to get his attention.
He quickly turned his head towards me again.
"Do you have a pencil I can borrow?" I asked with a slightly embarrassed chuckle.
He smiled softly, quickly handing me a pencil.
"Here you go...uh, what's your name?" The red haired boy asked, looking at me in confusion.
"It's Margo." I smiled.
"Margo. It's nice to meet you, Margo. You can call me Kirishima." He whispered.
.......
Man, what a long first day of school. I'm already behind in school work, since I'm coming into the year late.
And on top of that, I didn't even see All Might today. Not even a glimpse! I thought he was supposed to be teaching this class.
I quickly turned the empty corner in the hallway, lost in thought.
Great, Shigaraki was gonna be pissed. Oh well, I did the best I could—
"Ow!" I called out, running smack into someone.
I ended up crashing to the floor, my books spilling out of my bag.
"Woah!! I'm so sorry! Are you okay!?" The person asked, quickly kneeling down to my level.
"Yeah. It was my fault—" I started saying, before finally getting a good look at the person I ran into.
"Kirishima?" I asked, smiling softly.
"Margo!? Great, it's your first day of school and I just body slammed you in the hallway. Not the first impression I wanted to make." Kirishima said sheepishly, grabbing my arms to hoist me back up to standing.
"No! It's alright. You're just really strong. I wasn't expecting to go flying backwards like that." I called out, quickly picking up my books from the floor.
"Oh, that's probably because I accidentally activated my quirk when I saw you. I wasn't expecting to see someone around the corner, and I got surprised." Kirishima laughed, helping me gather my things.
"Really? What's your quirk?" I asked curiously, studying his face now.
"Eh. Nothing too extravagant. I can harden my whole body and that's about it." Kirishima shrugged, quickly averting his gaze to the side.
"Wow, that's a really cool quirk!" I said honestly.
It's true. A quirk like that could definitely be useful in the league of villains—not that I'm trying to recruit anybody to join.
I'm not that evil....
"What? Y-You really think it's a cool quirk?" Kirishima asked in disbelief.
"Well, yeah! I mean, you're pretty much indestructible for a certain amount of time, right? I mean that kind of makes you untouchable, to almost anything. It means nothing can break you. So...you're unbreakable, I guess." I babbled on, feeling more interested in his quirk, the more I talked about it.
Kirishima's eyes widened in shock, as I watched his cheeks tint pink slightly.
"Unbreakable, huh? Wow. I never thought about it that way." He muttered quietly, lost in thought now.
I was about to speak again, when my phone suddenly dinged.
It was a text from Shigaraki. I had to get back.
"Well, it was really nice talking to you, Kirishima. I'll see you tomorrow." I smiled, starting to walk away.
"Hey, wait! I never asked you what your quirk was!" Kirishima called out to me.
I sighed tiredly, not really wanting to share my quirk right now.
I mean, it was a villain's quirk after all.
At least, that's what Dabi told me when he saved me on....that day.
"You'll find out soon enough!" I called out, shooting him a quick smile before heading out the door.
First day of UA high....wasn't actually that bad.
