Capable of Feeling

Darkness. That's all that could be seen and felt in the body of a motionless android. The only other thing that could be felt was pain. But that's impossible, androids can't feel pain. Well, more like his circuits were damaged and some of his functions were limited. After a while, some functions come back and Vision was able to open his eyes again and remember where he was: miles away from Wanda, Morgan and the scene of destruction. He couldn't even believe that this level of carnage could be inflicted upon him. He had always been the most powerful player on any battlefield; never to be touched by the opposition. He mustered to pull himself together and levitate off the ground. He could only start by rising a few inches off the ground, so he started walking in the direction he hoped was the way. As he felt more confident walking, he quickened into a jog, then into a sprint. The faster he went, the more energy he built up. And sure enough, he soon started to rise higher and higher until he was able to fly like usual. And with his abilities restored, he flew back to the village to regroup with Ross and free Wanda from whatever trance Morgan La Fey had on her.

Vision arrived back at the village several minutes later, only to see the smoke and fire rising into the sky from all the damage. The sight of storm clouds looming nearby only adding to the disastrous scene. He does a sweep through some of the streets to see how the civilians are doing. Most appear to be fine, as they tend to or rush supplies to the casualties of the battle. He feels sorry that his mistakes must now result in many innocent people getting hurt. While he wasn't directly responsible for the destruction around him, it was his desire to be with Wanda that got him in this mess. Had he not messed things up, maybe Morgan may never have been awakened. So, in a way, this was his fault. He soon came to a clearing where Ross and the convoy of black armored vans were resting. As Vision descended to them, he noticed that most of the equipment had been packed up and were being stored away in the vans. Ross was standing with two other men, giving orders for their next directive.

Secretary Ross soon noticed Vision's body floating down, honestly shocked to see that he has survived such savagery. The colorful android lands softly on the grass only a few yards away from Ross and approaches him, while Ross looks him up and down to observe his physical condition.

"Well..." Ross said, "you've looked better." Vision didn't respond to that comment, he just went straight to his point.

"The Sorceress Le Fay has taken Ms. Maximoff."

"No kidding" Ross answered, rather gruffly. "I think it's safe to say that she did more than took her. It would seem from your scarring that Ms. Maximoff has now turned against us and is working with the witch."

"Turned against us?" Vision says in an appalling way. He couldn't understand why Ross would say such a thing. From what Vision had seen in battle, Wanda was fully in the fight with him, never going against him until the very end. And even then, Wanda didn't seem like her normal self. She is usually very expressive and affirmative when she uses her abilities in the way she did; full of personality. However, when she was holding Vision in the air to be slashed and beaten, she never flinched a muscle; like she was emotionless and machin-like. It was almost as if it was someone else had taken control over her soul and body, and therefore, her abilities. "What evidence do you have to support that? If you don't mind my asking, sir?"

"The marks and slashes on your body are a pretty good indicator" Ross explained, gesturing to the various points on Vision's body. "We also had a few eye-witnesses in view of the scene with body cams."

"That wasn't Wand- uh... Ms. Maximoff's doing!" Vision exclaimed. "Le Fay must have found a way to corrupt her and make her incapable of recognizing who she is fighting."

"Yeah, that's unlikely" Ross was quick to disagree. "I suspected that Maximoff would try to break free from our hands, and now that she has allied herself with that ancient wench, she has the power to evade us even further."

"Sir! She was not trying to escape, she was..."

"What!?" Ross cut him off quite aggressively. "She was what? What was she doing, Vision? Was she going along with this idea that she was going to have some kind of protection once the objective was complete? Or is all your talking about is the hope that you would be able to be close with her once this was all over. Well, let me tell you. Neither of those things were ever going to happen."

Vision was dismayed. To think that Ross only going along with his plan just so they could take down Morgan. Only to throw Wanda back into a cell like before, and not conditions Vision hasd suggested. "What do you mean?" Vision said nervously.

"It doesn't matter anymore. The objective has now changed, and we must carry it out" Ross said with a scornful look. Vision felt a current of worry through his wires and relays. He feared that this new directive would leave Wanda to be held captive by Morgan, or worse, would put Wanda right in their line of fire. "What will you do?" Vision asked anxiously.

"That's need to know only" the secretary said, "as you will not be joining us this time."

"Why not?"

"Your feelings on the matter may get in the way. So, I must order you back to base in London so there is no interference from you." Realizing that he was not meant to be present for this new mission, Vision knew what Ross was planning.

"You're going to blow both of them up, aren't you?" he said, both shocked and sad.

"It's the only way we ensure that neither of them won't harm anyone else again." Ross started moving around many of the parked vans to find his van. Vision followed behind hoping to change his mind. A distant sound of thunder echoed from a far, hailing the oncoming storm on the horizon. "Some locals claimed to have seen Morgan coming from a nearby castle up in the nearby cliffs. Hopefully that's where she and Ms. Maximoff will be."

"You can't just blow them up!" Vision protested. "What if they are expecting you?"

"We've already got that in mind. A small task force has already been sent to infiltrate the grounds. Once we get the okay from them, we'll launch our attack."

"You'll be destroyed without me to assist you, sir" Vision warned him with a stern tone. "I should be able to go."

"Your intentions on the matter are complicated enough. You're too much of a liability to keep you on board."

"You're going to kill them both."

Ross snarled internally, "Le Fey has had a body count rising within the past 36 hours. She must be stopped." He paused for a brief moment, catching his breath before he could finish. "And Maximoff has resisted containment and broken formal agreements far too many times to be allowed a chance at imprisonment."

"You can't do that" Vision exclaimed, "she must have a chance."

"She's not going to get one by the way I see it" Ross said, opening the door of his van and preparing to leave Vision on that note. But Vision wasn't done talking. He caught the door before Ross was able to close it. Ross sighed in annoyance, wishing that Vision would cease and obey orders like he was supposed to.

"Do you have any care for human life at all, Ross?" Vision retorted. "You are throwing away the life of a wonderful human being. One that is strong and brave, but kind and gentle, and probably even more human than you will ever be."

"Watch your mouth, Vision" Ross contended, pointing his index finger in his face. "Everything we do is for the betterment of everyone."

"Is that what you told yourself when your daughter refused to talk to you after your countless attempts to detain Dr. Banner as the Hulk." Ross' eyes seemed to drop at the mention of his daughter, and the distance she put herself from him after seeking out the Hulk as a weapon of war. "Did you ever think about how she felt about that. Because from what I hear, she was devastated."

"That's none of your concern. And I have come to terms with what has happened, and so has she."

"Has she now?" Vision fired back.

"And like Maximoff" Ross continued, "the Hulk is a destructive force that needs to be put away. Everywhere they go, people get hurt, personal properties are damaged to great extent, and they keep getting more powerful than they realize. Which, is another reason why they should both be locked up." Ross' volume was getting louder, as he was growing more agitated by how much he had to argue with Vision. "And don't talk to me about feelings and humanity, Vision. You're only an android. You don't know anything about humanity, or what it means to have feelings."

Ross slammed the car door shut and rolled down his window. Vision stepped back with a brooding expression across his complexion. "Now, go back to London and stay the hell out of our way!" Ross ordered, and the cavalcade of vans took off to take down Morgan and Wanda. Vision watched as the vehicles traveled along the road and up the hill, until they were out of sight.

Vision still stood at the bottom of the hill, pacing around and thinking about things for some time. He thought about Ross' accusation. That he was only an android, a synthezoid; a robot, to put it simply. Logically, he shouldn't have any sense of feeling. He was a literal walking, talking computer with the intelligence and knowledge to make decisions like any human. However, that didn't have anything to do with him constantly wanting to be around Wanda. And by being around her, they would learn more about each other. And by learning about each other, Vision started to have an understanding of her that no one else could. A sense of companionship that went deeper than either of them could explain. And at this, Vision finally knew what was driving these actions and thoughts. It was the sense of feeling. Or to be more precise, the feeling of affection.

He gazed up the hill, looking at the outline of the castle sitting atop the cliffs that overlooked the rough sea below. The storm clouds looming above it and a flash of lightning crashing in the distance. Vision inhaled deeply, making one last thought before he finished making a decision. When he exhaled, the rumble of thunder roared down the slopes and into his synthetic chest.

You might think that I am nothing but an android that only takes orders, Ross. Vision thought to himself as he levitated into the air slowly, ascending toward the cliffs where the castle sat. But I think I have figured out what humanity is; or at least, form what I can understand and interpret. It is the ability to have loyalty to those we care about, as well as others that are in our lives. And I care for Wanda very much. So, I will betray my thoughts and follow my feelings, and free Wanda from her villainous captor. And if I must perish or be punished for my actions, so be it. At least I'll know I have followed my... uh, well... Vision chuckled a bit, for he meant to say his heart, but he knew didn't have a physical heart at all. But still, the thought of embracing his newfound sense of feeling and affection was enough to for him not to finish his thought. And so, he flew off, willing to face off against Morgan Le Fey and Ross' men in order to prevent Wanda from being taken from him again.

LAST THING: I started a contest for you guys to come up with a title for the book. Unfortunately, nobody submitted a title. So, I came up of one just in case. The new title is "WHERE THEY ARE: A WANDA MAXIMOFF AND VISION STORY". The new title will also come with a new cover for the book. It's the same cover, just with the title written over it, so it shouldn't be hard to recognize it.

Hope you guys like the chapter and the new title. Leave a vote if you did, and don't forget to express your thoughts in the comments. Be sure to look out for my "April Updates" announcement to find out when the next chapter will be released. Until next time, BYE!!!
