A Decision & Epilogue (Last Chapter)
The sun hasn't risen yet, and the bodies of Wanda Maximoff and the Vision are holding each other in sleep. The bedsheets lay over them warmly and raggedly. Wanda breathed softly, while Vison laid still in low power mode; his overlays idling in a peaceful rest. Nothing could awaken them from the blissful sleep that they shared with each other, not even Wanda's phone ringing on the bedside table. It rang three different times in the night, but it never woke either of them.
**** **** ****
Morning came, but hours passed before either one of them woke. Wanda rolled over, stirring her eyes to flutter open. With the Vision right in front of her, and the memories of the previous night filling her head, a smile grew from her lips. She felt so whole that she was able to share a night with him the way they did. It was spontaneous, liberating even. Like she was able to find happiness with someone that was willing to grow with her, just as she did with him. She felt that she could stay in bed with him forever. To never again face the harsh realities that lay outside their window. However, her bladder was harder to resist at the moment, and she pulled the sheets off her to go to the bathroom.
As she stood up, she noticed her flip-phone's notification screen blinking. Curious about what that could mean, she took it with her to the bathroom. She flipped the phone open and a missed call banner came across the screen. She had missed three calls while she was sleeping, all from Steve Rogers; a voicemail was also left. Sitting on the toilet, she played the voicemail to hear what he had to say.
Wanda, we need to know where you are. We checked the house and you weren't there. We've seen all the news reports about your struggles in Southhampton and on the coast. We think that you might be at risk of being found. Give us a call as soon as you can so we find come pick you up and move you to a safe location. We hope you're okay.
With the ending of the message, the air felt cold. Wanda didn't know what to do. Here she was, happy after a wonderful night with Vision, and now she was faced with the decision of whether she should leave him behind and be with Steve and company. However, she felt completely safe with Vision. She knew he wasn't going to tell anyone about her whereabouts, plus it was much nicer to have someone around to talk to, to make each day different.
She washed up at the sink and lightly walked back to the bedroom. "Oh! Good morning!" she said to Vision, who was standing at the side of the bed when she walked in. However, he didn't seem very happy to see her. He looked sad, or rather, let down. "Vis?" she asked, "what's wrong?"
Vision was quiet for a moment. His eyes wandered the room without any clear path. His lower jaw hung slightly, showing that he was preparing to speak. "I uh..." he stammered, "I overheard the message you received from Captain Rogers." The air in Wanda's breath felt like it was pulled out of her lungs. "I guess being an entity that is always connected to the internet has some of its downsides" he added.
"Yeah, uh..." Wanda stuttered, "I don't actually know what I'm gonna do about that." Vision nodded, just to confirm that he understood her stress about the matter. "What do you think I should do?"
"You're asking me?"
"Of course" she answered, walking up to him. "I don't see any reason why I can't just stay here with you." Vision smiled, taking hold of her arms and pulling her closer to him. "I hope that's alright with you." He kissed the top of her head, liking this idea. "It is" he replied, and they embraced each other in an intimate hug.
Suddenly, Vision's mind stone lit up, and a display came up on the inside of Vision's eye. He pulled away, making Wanda wonder what was happening. "What is it?"
"I... I'm not sure" he said. "I'm not completely sure what's going on here." Several lines of code and data passed by in his eye, like a computer screen showing the many lines that make up a system's programming. As it finished, a couple of bold words appeared to him: TRANSPONDER ACTIVATED- SIGNAL RECEIVED
"What is this?" Vision exclaimed and told Wanda what he had been seeing. She puzzled around with it for a moment and soon came up with a logical explanation. "Stark" she uttered dreadfully.
"What?"
"Stark" she repeated, "he activated some kind of tracking device inside of you. Which mean..."
"Which means that he and Ross know where I am" Vision suddenly realized, saying it with Wanda. "They probably won't take long in getting here either." Fear raced through both of them, they had to think fast if they were going to make something work. "What are we going to do?"
I think there's only one thing that we can do" Wanda said, "that we go our separate ways." Vision sadly pursed his lips, "That does seem like our only option at this point, doesn't it" he answered. A heartbreaking moment of silence came over them, perhaps so they could think about whether they would be able to still see each other. "But, maybe..." Wanda looked up, eager to hear some kind of hopeful idea from her companion. "Maybe we can still be in contact with each other. And who knows, one day we may be able to be with each other again. Even if it's only for a short time."
"Vis, how would we do that?" she argued. "With that transponder inside you, they will always be watching you."
Vision, smiling in a mischievous way, replied, "Perhaps I shall educate myself in the makeup of my own body and find a way to turn it off." That made them both smile, as it conjured a childish thought of disobeying those held responsible for looking after them. Wanda found it quite different to see Vision this way as if he really like any normal human. But still, there was very little chance that he would be able to learn how to do that within a time in which they would soon long to see each other.
"As much as that makes me smile, that may take a while" she voiced her concern. Vision understood her reasoning, but assured her, "Then I guess we must make the most of the time that we can stay connected." Wanda frowned, playing around with her phone in her fingers. "But I still have hope that we can see each other, in a setting similar to this."
"I do too," she said. They came together, their foreheads resting on each other. The peaceful silence of being in each other's company making them wish they didn't have to end it. But eventually, Wanda left to make a call to Steve to have him come pick her up. After the call ended, they did whatever they could to make like the cottage looked as untouched as when they first arrived. They took any of the food and drinks they had and brought it out to the field where they could properly dispose of it without any sign that it was there.
When they were done, Wanda prepared to leave. Standing with Vision at the end of the drive, they looked back at the cottage as memories of the little time they spent together flooded their minds. They hugged and kissed one last time and said their goodbyes. Vision stayed on the driveway, while Wanda walked along the road away from where Ross could come from. She had a hill to climb, so she was able to see the cottage, the land, and Vision as she walked. She wished that she could turn around and race back down the hill and be with Vision, but she knew Steve and the others would soon be arriving. And quite literally, her phone rang at that moment with Steve's I.D. on the display. She answered, to which he said that they would be settling down in five minutes.
At the bottom of the hill, Vision watched as his companion climbed the hill. He saw that she had brought her flip phone to her ear. He figured that she was speaking with Rogers. He wished he could fly up there to hug and kiss her one last time, but the sound of rockets came from the sky. He turned down the other side of the road to find a lone figure zooming across the sky, straight toward him. He recognized the red, yellow, and grey figure to be Tony Stark in his Mark 47 armor.
Tony landed a few feet from Vision, the weight of his armor landing with a great thud. The armor opened up, revealing Stark in nothing but a blue workout shirt and sweatpants. "Huh," he said, "the English countryside isn't particularly what I imagined as a vacation, but I guess you learn something every day. You doin' okay?"
Vision nervously greeted him by answering his question. "Yes. I think I am."
"Ross told me as much as he could about what happened by the coast. You got anything that he might have missed?" Vision thought for a moment and answered, "Only that I was unconscious for most of the battle, as he was. I woke before he did and came here."
"You never thought to bring him with?" Tony asked. Vision didn't think of an answer to that, but he hoped an excuse would dismiss any suspicion, but Tony soon cut him off. "You know what, forget that part. I don't want to know. As long as he's alive and still pointing fingers for us, I'm good." Vision felt like he could sigh of relief, and maybe even chuckle at Stark's comment. "But seriously, you're okay?"
"Yes, Mr. Stark" he answered graciously. "Probably more okay than I have been."
"Yeah..." Tony groaned, "savor it while you can," he said in an informal way. "Ross will likely not have you out in the field for quite some time. Which sucks, in some ways, sucks for us, but that's the way things gotta be now, don't they?"
Vision smiled, finding some humor in what he had to say. "Yes, I suppose it is."
"Ross will be here in a few. Just thought I'd get here first in case you..." Stark became distracted by a familiar aircraft flying in the distance. It came in closer and prepared to land at the top of the hill. Tony looked closer and noticed a lone feminine figure standing atop the hill. As the Quinjet landed, the figure approached the rear doors, which opened slowly. She soon boarded, with a lone male figure greeting her.
Stark looked over at Vision, surprised at what this was insinuating. Vision looked to him, hoping that he was accepting of what they both knew. "As I said," he reassured the billionaire, "I've never been more okay. Happy even." Stark nodded, with his mouth gaping slightly and his tongue tucked behind his lower teeth; still in a state of shock that two people he knew would be doing what he assumed they had done.
Stark looked back to the top of the hill, where the two figures were now looking back toward them. They turned back and went inside the jet. The rear door closed and rose into the air. "I'm sure she's good for you," Tony said, giving Vision a quick pat on the back, only to walk away to give him his space.
Vision watched as the Quinjet rose into the air and zoomed off into the distance, hopeful that he would be able to share more time with Wanda; perhaps with less conflict and complications. While inside the Quinjet, Wanda sat quietly while Sam Wilson and Natasha Romanoff piloted the aircraft. Steve Rogers sat beside her, nodding understandably of what she was leaving behind.
"What's the likelihood of being with him again, Cap?" she asked. Steve hesitated, knowing that it would be a tricky way to get the two of them together again. "I don't know. These Accords aren't going to be much help to either of you. But if he's ever able to find a way out, we'll make sure you get the chance to see him. You just gotta communicate with us a lot more. And we'll be doing the same. Sound like a deal?"
Wanda nodded, content with the feeling that, for now, she would potentially have the blessing to see Vision once more. And almost two months later, Vison was able to be let free by Tony to go visit Wanda in New Jersey. She met up with him and they felt like they couldn't let go of each other.
Since that adventure, they had met up every so often, getting a taste of the place they could meet. They met people, went to events that they wouldn't be expected to be at, and they continued to grow with each other. And as time went by, their love for each other flourished into a beautiful relationship.

A/N- AAAAANNNNND, THAT'S A WRAP!
The feeling of finishing this story is so exciting. This was the first story I ever did when I joined Wattpad and looking back, I can't believe what I have been through as a writer to get to this point. What I find the most ironic was that I had initially meant to release a new chapter for this story every Wednesday when I started. Clearly, that didn't happen; but fate has a strange way of working things out, as I am posting the final chapter on a Wednesday. I couldn't be more proud of the work I've done here, and the support that you all have given me through this journey of developing this unexplored time of Wanda and Vision's story in the MCU. And now with the premiere of "Wandavision" literally two days away on Disney+, my excitement about these two characters, and the epic potential of storytelling that comes with them, couldn't be higher.
BONUS MATERIAL- Also, if you're not completely satisfied with the ending of this story, I have written some chapters in one of my Spider-Man books that take place a few months after this chapter. If you want some context, here's what I'll give you...
Wanda and Vision have met up in New Jersey. They only have a few days to be with each other. They decide to go to a music festival in the New York City area. The big performance of the night is Billy Joel, which they both have tickets for. While browsing around, they come across a group of teenagers that may be more familiar with their world than they realize.
The book is called, "Three's a Crowd," and the chapters Wanda and Vision are in are chapters 9 & 10 (Music Festival: Pts 2 & 3). Keep in mind that Wanda and Vision will not be the center of focus; they are just playing the role of guest stars in this section of the story.
Thank you to everyone for reading the chapter and finishing the book. Leave a vote if you did, and don't forget to express your thoughts in the comments. There will be a feedback chapter after this one so I can hear what you have to say about this book. Hope you'll participate. Until next time, this is amazjc96 signing off. BYE!!!
