"You knew about the wave?"

Baekhyun nodded his head and searched in her eyes for a reaction. She didn't seem upset at all, she only was surprised.

If she knew...

"I got to know about it right before the wedding ceremony would start. I had two choices. Tell you and risk my life, or get a boat and save me first, before helping you."

"Why didn't you save Xiumin!?"

Tears streamed over her cheeks, not only because she was disappointed of her friend, but more because there would have been a way to save her husband.

"Jia I.."

"I thought you were my friend!"

"I am your friend Jia, there is nothing I would rather do than saving you and Bo."

"Why would you care now?"

"Because I saw what friendship and love is, when I saw you, and because I promised it."

"Who did you promise.."

"I promised the person who cared most about you, that I would be there for you."

Jia widened her eyes furiously.

"You saw him after we got seperated?"

"I did."

Jia couldn't hold back her feelings and slapped his face. Right after that she felt sorry and leaned back again to calm down a bit.

"I found a boat on the coast, I was panicking, that I could die and just paddled towards the horizon, hoping I could set over the wave. When I saw the wave, people were suddenly starting to scream and I felt guilty, so I went back. I could take some people woth me to save them, including Xiumin. But he refused, because he wanted to search for you."

"What happened?"

"After the wave had hit the coast, the corpses were streaming back into the ocean and Xiumin was one of them."

Baekhyun tried to get Jia a tissue, but his hands were shivering too much, so he just embraced her for a long while.

"So he was dead all the time?"

"The last thing he said, when he was dying in my arms, were: 'Protect Jia'"

He never told her, because he didn't want her to cry, he let her hope, because it made her strong, he stayed by her side, and always would until she was save, because he learned to love her.

But there was no sense in hiding something, they would find out anyways.

When Baekhyun looked up again, Jia was gone in her room, crying herself to sleep. She woke up after a while from the stinging pain in her back.

The doctor, who was just looking for Bo, noticed her painful face and saked her, what was wrong.

Jia pointed towards her neck, where the doctor could see the blue color spreading down at her back.

"I have those too.", he mumbled silently and left the room after giving her some pain killers.

"That's all I can do for you at the moment..."

The doctor almost bumped into Jongdae who was busily running through the hallways to see Jia and Bo. The doctor handed a surgical mask to him and advised him to wear it.

"Jia are you ok?"

"Jongdae get out of the room, now!"

"What happened? Are you ok?"

"Baekhyun booked a flight I want you to go home."

"I won't leave you. Can you tell me what happened?"

"LEAVE!"

With this Jia broke into tears again and tossed around on her bed. She burried her head into the blanket and screamed at it so it would swallow her despair.

Jongdae just ignored her warning, entered the room and sat down on the bed next to her. He took her chin with both of his hands and turned her face to him, carefully as if she would be out of glass.

Then he pierced her soul with his passionate stare into her red eyes and whispered firmly.

"I'll tell you one last time. I will never ever leave your side."
