This poem might upset some of you, and it may stop you from reading more of my poems. If it does, then go ahead, leave. I don't mind how many views I have. I do appreciate your support, but if you have something against gay rights (which I don't understand), then don't read this poem.
Someone explain to me, please,
How they're different from you or me.
What have they done that's so wrong?
So they sing a different song
That you don't particularly like.
Suck it up! That's my advice.
Just because they're different, you're afraid,
But who are you to say
Who they should be?
Why should they act differently?
They can't help who they are
Any more than you can.
They could go far
But instead we ban
Their happiness, their freedom of choice,
Just because you're filled with disgust.
I hate shrimp, but can I make them illegal?
I'm not quite sure you have a brain in your skull.
You want someone to fall in love because of form instead of personality?
You think that they can help their sexuality?
Well, they can't, it's not their decision,
They didn't choose that life with exactness and precision,
They were born like this,
They can't help it.
So just let it go!
This is ridiculous, you know.
They're people, and so are you!
Why are ideas that are new
So horrifying to you?
I don't get it, I don't think I ever will.
But go ahead, state your opinion. I'll listen to that as well.
I just don't see
Why they're treated differently
They aren't all that different from you or me.
