"Wake up." A booming voice said, I shot my head up and looked at Kino who was now in his human form. "What's wrong?" "You, Zulo, and I have to go to the park right now!" I turned human and ran to the front of the warehouse where I saw Zulo waiting in her cheetah form, I was still in my tiger form so Kino quickly turned into a lion and we started running.

"Why are we in such a hurry! We can't stop park!" I yelled as fresh air sliced at my face, "something has happened and I thought I would run to the park by myself but Kino stopped me from going alone. I thought bringing you along would be better." She looked at me for a second, I nodded and followed as she ran faster.

We reached the park and stood near the entrance, I looked at Kino and held out my hand letting him drop sunglasses into them. After we put them on we entered the park and saw people crowding around one of the cages, Zulo sucked in a breath before we all walked to the cage. We pushed past people so that we were the ones in front so that we could see what was happening, in the cage there was a black panther with bright yellow eyes, he was huddled in the corner of the cage and he looked terrified. Batowl stood next to the cage door on the right side along with batcoon and the squeaker. Batowl had something shiny in his hand but I couldn't see it well, Zulo noticed me staring, "It's a needle." She whispered, I still didn't understand so I looked at her and tilted my head. "It's filled with Sodium Pentobarbital. It's a drug that puts animals down." My eyes widened and I saw a tear fall from Zulo's sunglasses, I grabbed her hand and she squeezed it. "Are you okay?" I asked intertwining our fingers, she nodded and wiped away her tears, "I know this panther, I'm just surprised that they are doing this humanly." She sniffed.

Batowl entered the cage and the panther let out a warning growl, people giggled and Zulo grasped my hand tighter. Batowl jumped onto the panthers back making the cat try and buck him off, Batowl took the needle and jabbed it into the panthers hind leg he roared and threw off the hero. People laughed as they saw the panther start to pant. Batowl exited the cage and locked the door, "Now some people may not know why we put this thing down. The reason is because the panther rate is high right now and we are trying to eliminate some of them to make it more safe, now if all of you can please go so we can see if the drugs worked that would be a big help. Oh and yes this panther will be pelted as all the others are." People started to walk away and soon it was just Kino, Zulo, and me. "I am going to go try get some information about what else they are doing here." Kino said walking away, Zulo walked right in front of the cage, dragging me along with her.

"Hey Peter." Zulo whispered, the panther weakly tried to stand but failed so he crawled over to the front of the cage. "I know you can't talk to me but I just wanted to say that I am so sorry I didn't stop them-" Zulo's voice cracked as tears streamed down her face, she removed the sunglasses and started into Peters yellow eyes. "I thought that I could've ran here to stop them, but after I saw you in here I know that you wouldn't want me to be caught." She let go of my hand and cupped his big face through the bars, they put there foreheads together before Peter licked her face and purred. His head became heavy in Zulo's hands and his eyes slowly closed as he drifted away into nothingness.

Zulo gently put his head down and put her glasses back on. "We should go." I whispered pointing to the hero's as they came closer with a black body bag. Kino ran over to us, he grabbed our hands and ran out the gates, we hid in bushes when Zulo broke down into tears, she ripped off her glasses and grabbed me into a tight hug. I put my chin on her head rubbed small circles on her back, "we have to get going before they pick up our scent." Kino said turning into a lion, I followed turning into a tiger, then Zulo turned into a cheetah.

As we ran back to the warehouse Zulo stayed close by me, she didn't speak and just stared with empty eyes down the road. When we reached the warehouse Kino went inside after giving me a sad glance, Zulo grabbed my hand before I could walk away. "Could I stay in your room tonight? I would feel better if I wasn't alone." Her voice was weak and she stared at the ground as she spoke, I whispered 'sure' before we headed off to my room.

When we entered my room she looked around and carefully stepped inside. "Can I take a shower?" She asked, "Yeah I don't mind." I smiled. She went off into the bathroom and I heard the shower start, after about five minutes she exited the shower in just her underwear and one of her arms covered her busts. "Can I borrow a night shirt?" I handed her a long black shirt and turned around as she put it on.

We laid down in my bed, I was facing Zulo's back. "Missing someone is your hearts way of reminding that you love them." I said, I heard a sniffle before Zulo faced me, her eyes were red from crying and it broke my heart to see her like that. "Is that a night quote Kino told me about?" She asked, I nodded before she curled up into my side, "Thank you." She whispered, "Your welcome." I whispered back. After that I waited for small snores to erupt from Zulo, and after I heard them I held her close a drifted to sleep.
