After that night Kaiyo was barely ever seen. It was lucky if you managed to catch a glimpse of him. In reality, he was staying in the forest. The glimpses of him were the shadows he commands.

In the center of the forest, the lush green forest was hidden in feet of haunted-looking trees and leaves. Where the clear water was sparkling and clear, filled with fish, and right there on the lush grass was a certain white-haired boy who finally fell asleep after days of anxiety-filled insomnia. 

As the sun set on the horizon he opened his eyes for the first time in 24 hours. He slowly sat up feeling groggy and shakingly sat up. 

Rubbing his eyes and looking around him. The night was coming, the sky turned from blue to a purple hue fading into a dark blue. He looked around seeing most of the animals gathering to sleep the night away. 

The unicorns were ushering the foals to the herd and huddling around they all fall asleep. 

Kaiyo gave them a tired smile before getting up and leaving. Walking to the wall of vines at the edge of the lush grass, pushing the vines aside walking through. The slight rustling of the grass turned to the crunch of the dry dirt as he passed the last vine looking at the forest ahead. 

He gave a relieved exhale before walking towards the castle. He only got a few steps in before a scream caught his attention. 

"Ahhhhh!", a scream rang throughout the forest. 

"What the..." Kaiyo said to himself as he ran toward the scream. He continues running momentarily before pausing and looking at the giant webs scattered around. 

"Oh no", he whispers to himself pushing to run faster. He had avoided this section of the forest for a reason. The spiders avoided him and he avoided them in return. 

He run closer phasing into the shadows and staying hidden from whoever was crazy enough to enter this part of the forest. 

he kept going till he saw Harry and Ron speaking to the biggest of the spiders. He was silently watching from behind a tree using his ability to hide himself from the spiders surrounding the area. 

"What are they doing here?", Kaiyo whispers to himself. He watched as they tried to keep the spiders back and after getting fed up with watching he raised his hand and a black aura surrounded his hand.  

Shadow hounds emerged from the ground and attacked the spiders. From biting to ripping off their legs. 

"Harry? What's happening?", Ron asked gripping his friend for dear life. While Harry just stared at the hounds remembering his first Halloween in the castle. One of the hounds turned back to stare at the two. Ron grabbed Harry and started shaking while he stood there. He stared momentarily before reaching his arm as if in a daze before a loud honk drew their attention. 

"Harry look!", Ron yelled as the Ford Angelica drove in honking. He turns away hesitantly and runs into the car. 

"Let's go!", Harry yells as the car drives off. Kaiyo waits till the car is out of sight before phasing away along with the hounds.

Kaiyo returned to the castle walking along the candlelit hallways. He came across the youngest Weasley. Ginny was standing strangely in the hallway. 

"Weasley? What are you doing out at this time?", Kaiyo asked. Ginny seemed to freeze in place before turning around. She seemed to be in a trance, her eyes glazed over leaving her with glassy eyes. 

"Weasley?", Kaiyo asked walking closer but keeping a safe distance with a hand on the hilt of his knife. 

"So you're the foreign student. The student that was allowed to stay for the summer", A voice said from behind him. Kaiyo turned around in a hurry. 

"What? Where did he come from? I didn't sense anyone coming!", Kaiyo thought turning to see the teenage boy with a Slytherin uniform. "Who is he? I haven't ever seen him in the dorm. Wait", Kaiyo looked at the boy's feet. "Where is his shadow?", Kaiyo thought his eyes widening. 

"Who are you?... What are you?", Kaiyo asked with his knife held in front of him in a defensive position.

"What does Dumbledore see in you?", the boy says circling Kaiyo with him following him with his eyes. "Why are you granted something I yearned for, for years", he continued. "No matter. It's not like you'll be alive long enough to stay another summer". 

The boy launched a red spell at Kaiyo who promptly dodged and lunged for the boy tackling him to the floor before he disappeared.  Kaiyo looked around before rolling out of the way with another spell. Kaiyo tossed his robe to the side finding it a hindrance to his mobility. He got up phasing into the shadows before coming out beside the boy and swinging the knife down. The boy disappears again, but when he reappears the shadows around him climb up his body locking him in place. 

The boy looked shocked before smiling like a crazy person. Before Kaiyo could question him a voice from the forgotten person in the hall took him by surprise. 

"Stupify", chanted Ginny before a red light shot out and hit Kaiyo in the chest knocking him out a piece of silver falling off his head. The shadows crawling up Tom retreated and Ginny regained the light in her eyes and looked at the unconscious Slytherin in horror. 

"Tom! What did you do!", Ginny cried out covering her mouth. 

"Oh! I didn't do anything, dear Ginny. This was all you", Tom says smiling. 

"N-no! I couldn't have!", Ginny denies before Tom takes back control. 

"No matter come on we have work to do", Tom says taking Kaiyo's wand from his pocket tying him up, and levitating him down to the chamber.

Ron and Harry run through the hallways before hearing the teachers. 

"As you can see, the Heir of Slytherin has left another message. Our worst fear has been realized. Not one, but two students have been taken by the monster. Into the Chamber itself", McGonagall says as she clutches a familiar opal hairclip. "I'm afraid we shall have to send the students home. I'm afraid... this is the end of Hogwarts". 

"So sorry. Dozed off. What have I missed?", Lockhart says strutting in. The two don't fail to notice the glares coming from Professor McGonagall and Snape. As well as the tightening grip on the hairclip.

"Just the man. A girl and boy have been snatched by the monster, Lockhart. Your moment has come at last", Snape sneers. 

"My m-moment?", Lockhart stuttered before looking very nervous. 

"Weren't you saying just last night that you've known all along where the entrance to the Chamber of Secrets is?", Snape says with a vindictive smile. 

"D-did I? I don't recall...", Lockhart stuttered with a nervous look. 

"That settles it. We'll leave it to you to deal with the monster, Gilderoy. Your skills, after all, are a legend", McGonagall says with obvious sarcasm at the end. 

"V-very well. I'll -- I'll be in my office, getting -- getting ready", Lockhart says shying away from the two. 

"The rest of us should go and inform the students what has happened", McGonagall says turning away from Lockhart. 

"Who is it the monster's taken, Minerva?", Professor Sprout asked with a shaky voice. McGonagall lets out a shaky breath before speaking. 

"Ginny Weasley", she said. Ron lost all strength in his legs and collapsed to the floor while Harry kept watching the teachers. "and", she unclenched her fist to reveal an extremely familiar hairclip "Kaiyo Kurayami". 

"What?", Snape asked taking the hairclip. 

"Come now we must start getting the students ready", McGonagall says guiding Snape down the hall. After the teacher left Harry helped Ron regain his strength to stand and they left the corner they were hiding in. 

"She knew something, Harry. She'd found out something about the Chamber of Secrets. That's why she was taken. I mean, she was - is- a pure-blood. There can't be any other reason", Ron tried to rationalize her abduction as Harry tried to put everything together. 

The monster of Slytherin was a basilisk. It was using the pipes to get around the school. The basilisk attacked the muggle-borns of the school, and now Ginny and Kaiyo were missing. Why take them?

Down in the chambers, Kaiyo was placed with his side against the wall. He had ropes around his torso, wrists, and ankles as well as a gag on his mouth. He was still unconscious as Tom loomed over him.

His eyes practically gleamed with excitement. He thought back to their fight. Those shadows weren't any spell he knew of. Nor would any second-year be capable of creating such a spell or casting it wordlessly. 

Tom heard rapid footsteps coming closer and promptly disappeared. 

Harry ran into the main room in the chamber. Panting he looked around frantically for the two students. His eyes landed on Ginny who was collapsed on the ground near the ring of shallow water. 

"Ginny! Please don't be dead", Harry yelled running over to the girl before shaking her trying to get her to wake up, "Wake up! Wake up! Ginny!". He looked around for help before he saw the knocked-out head set up against the wall. 

"Kaiyo!", Harry yelled ready to run over before looking at the girl in his arms. He was conflicted, looking between the two and debating in his head who to help first. 

"She won't wake... The boy might soon though", Tom says appearing near Harry. 

"Tom... Tom Riddle? What'd you mean, she won't wake? She's not...", Harry questioned. 

"She's still alive. But only just", Tom says looking at the girl uninterested. 

"Are you a ghost?", Harry asked looking at him. 

"A memory. Preserved in a diary for fifty years", Tom answered bland tone. 

"She's cold as ice. You've got to help me, Tom. There's a basilisk-"

"It won't come until it's called", Tom interrupts twirling Harry's wand in his hand. 

"Give me my wand, Tom", Harry demanded.

"You won't be needing it", Tom says continuing to twirl the wand in his hand. 

Listen, we've got to go! We've got to save them!", Harry says getting more desperate. 

"I'm afraid I can't do that, Harry.

You see, as poor Ginny grows weaker... I grow stronger, and the boy is too... interesting for me to let go", Tom says turning to look at the now semi-conscious boy. 

Kaiyo was just waking up. His head was pounding as his vision slowly returned. He watched as Tom and Harry conversed. Kaiyo felt around his arms to see if the pocket knife he had strapped on his forearm was still there. He managed to grab it before trying to cut the ropes on his wrists. 

"But she's dying!", Harry yelled. 

"Yes. I'm afraid so. But then, She's been in so much pain, poor Ginny. She's been writing to me for months, telling me all her pitiful worries and woes. Ginny poured her soul out to me. I grew stronger on a diet of her deepest fears, her darkest secrets. I grew powerful enough to start feeding Ginny a few secrets, to start pouring a bit of my soul back into her...", Tom says smiling as his body loses its transparency. Harry realizes what he is talking about as his eyes widen in horror. 

"Yes, Harry, it was Ginny Weasley who opened the Chamber of Secrets", Tom says smiling at Harry's expression. 

"No... she couldn't -- she wouldn't", Harry denies. 

"It was Ginny who set the Basilisk on the Mudbloods and the Squib's cat. Ginny who wrote threatening messages on the walls, and Ginny who kidnapped your friend here", Tom continues. 

 "Why?! Why do this?", Harry asked. 

"Because I told her to. You'll find that I can be very persuasive. Not that she knew what she was doing. She was, shall we say, in a kind of trance. Still, the power of the diary began to scare her and she tried to dispose of it in the girls' bathroom. But then, who should find it... but you. The very person I was most anxious to meet", Tom says calmly and smugly. 

"And why did you want to meet me?", Harry said with an angry undertone. 

"She did it because I told her to. You'll find that I can be very persuasive. Not that she knew what she was doing. She was, shall we say, in a kind of trance. Still, the power of the diary began to scare her and she tried to dispose of it in the girls' bathroom. But then, who should find it... but you. The very person I was most anxious to meet", Tom responded.

"And why did you want to meet me?", Harry asks with a sneer. 

"Ginny told me all about you. I knew I had to talk to you, meet you if I could. So I decided to show you my capture of that brainless oaf, Hagrid, to gain your trust", Tom says with a smirk. 

"Hagrid's my friend. And you framed him, didn't you?", Harry asked his anger increasing. 

"It was my word against Hagrid's. Only Dumbledore seemed to think Hagrid was innocent", Tom says in mock defense. 

"I'll bet Dumbledore saw right through you", Harry says. 

"I knew it wouldn't be safe to open the Chamber again while I was still at school. So I decided to leave behind a diary, preserving my sixteen-year-old self in its pages, so that one day... I would be able to lead another to finish Salazar Slytherin's noble work", Tom says. 

"Well, you haven't finished it this time. In a few hours, Mandrake Draught will be ready and everyone who was petrified will be all right again", Harry says confidently. 

"Haven't I told you, that killing Mudbloods doesn't matter to me anymore? For many months now, my new target has been... you. Imagine my disappointment when I learned Ginny had stolen the diary back from you". Tom says with a sickening smile. 

"Ginny stole the diary from my room? But why?", Harry asks confused. 

"She was afraid. Afraid you'd learn how to work the diary. Afraid I'd tell you just who it was that had been strangling all those roosters", Tom says smiling as he becomes more solid. "Come now, Harry. Don't look so disappointed. Had Ginny succeeded in destroying the diary, she would have destroyed me. And we couldn't be having this little talk. And I have so many questions for you", Tom says with a mock smile. 

"Like what?", Harry asked curiously 

"Well, how is it that a baby with no extraordinary magical talent managed to defeat the greatest wizard of all time? How did you escape with nothing but a scar, while Lord Voldemort's powers were destroyed?", Tom asked with clear annoyance and anger in his voice. 

"Why do you care how I escaped? Voldemort was after your time", Harry asked confused. Kaiyo was almost done cutting through the ropes around his wrist as his eyes widened realizing what or rather who Tom was. His hands started to move faster to free himself before some ended up dead. 

"Voldemort is my past, present and future", Tom says as he shows his name before rearranging it into the anagram he created. 

"You. You're the heir of Slytherin. You're Voldemort?" said Harry who was shocked at the revelation. 

"Surely you didn't think I would keep my filthy Muggle father's name?", Tom asked incredulously. "No, I fashioned myself a new name, a name I knew wizards everywhere would one day fear to speak, when I became the greatest sorcerer in the world". 

"Albus Dumbledore is the greatest sorcerer in the world!", Harry refuted. 

"Dumbledore's been driven out of this castle by the mere memory of me!", Tom yells back. 

"He'll never be gone! Not as long as those who remain are loyal to him!", Harry yells. 

Kiayo finally cut through the ropes binding his wrists. He looked to see the two too busy in their argument to notice and quickly moved onto his ankles. He watched as a phoenix flew into the chamber. 

"Fawkes...", Harry whispers. 

"This is what Dumbledore sends his defender?! A songbird and an old hat!", Tom laughs. He starts speaking in parseltongue and Kaiyo cuts through the binds on his ankles. He runs to Harry before grabbing his arm. 

"Run!", He yelled pulling Harry away from Tom. 

"Kaiyo?!", Harry exclaimed surprised he was awake. The hiss of the basilisk knocked him back to the situation at hand "Don't look into its eyes!". 

They could both hear the slither of the basilisk and Tom's hissing. Kaiyo pulled out the handgun from his belt. He used his ability to sense where the snake was before firing. The basilisk let out an echoing screech at the penetration of the bullets into its scales. 

"No!", Tom hissed in a frantic manner. 

The two continue running before Harry trips and Kaiyo runs back to him. Kaiyo tries to pull him up before the basilisk screeches. Harry opens his eyes facing the wall to see a silhouette of Fawks clawing out the Basilisk's eyes. Harry looks to see the Basilisk bleeding where its eyes are. 

"Fool! Think you're safe! It can still hear you!", Tom yells. Kaiyo opened his eyes to see the size of the basilisk he reached a hand into his boot before taking out a small dagger. 

"I have an idea", Harry says looking at Kaiyo. "I need you to get me to the sorting hat". 

"The sorting hat?", Kaiyo asked. He looked at the Basilisk coming at them before choosing to trust Harry. "Go!". He pushed Harry towards the sorting hat before bringing his firearm up to shoot the snake. 

*Bang* 

*Bang*

The basilisk screeches in pain as two more bullets hit its upper body. The handgun was running out of ammunition and if it came to his dagger he stood no chance. He glanced toward Harry before making his choice. 

"能力：影が這う場所(Nōryoku: Kage ga hau basho) (Ability: Where shadows crawl)", Kaiyo called out before he had a black aura. Ribbons of kanji appeared circling and condensing before a shadow hound appeared. Before long he had a small pack of shadow hounds attacking the basilisk.

Harry looked at the fight with a fascinated look in his eyes before continuing to run to the hat. 

"The process is nearly complete. In a few minutes, Ginny Weasley will be dead. And I will cease to be a memory. Lord Voldemort will return. Very much... alive", Tom says smiling as Harry runs to him and Ginny. 

Harry looks scared looking around for the sorting hat before finding it on the ground. He reaches in and pulls out a silver sword decorated with rubies. He looked at the sword before looking at the battle in the corridor. 

Kaiyo was fading in and out of the shadows on the corridors using the shadows to teleport around. Using his blade to cause deep cuts into its skin. he teleports one more time only for the basilisk to use its tail to hit him into the main chamber. He slammed into the ground bouncing a couple of times before coming to a halt and landing at the edge of the water. 

"Finish him already!", Tom yells at the snake. It comes slithering out hissing before slamming its tail down. Kaiyo rolls out of the way the tail cracking the ground beside him. Harry starts to climb to the top of the structure the snake came from. 

"Hey! Up here!", Harry calls out shifting the Basilisk's attention from the Slytherin. The Basilisk slithers over before shooting out to eat Harry. 

*Stab*

The sword pierced the top of the basilisk's mouth into its head. The snake convulsed for a moment before falling dead. Harry stumbles for a moment before falling off the structure. Kaiyo raced over before catching him in his arm and pulling him towards where Ginny was lying. Tom looked murderous as he stared at the dead snake before smirking as the fang in Harry's arm came into view. 

"Remarkable, isn't it? How quickly does the venom of the Basilisk penetrate the body? If you have any final words, Potter, you'd best speak them now. I'd guess you have little more than a minute to live", Tom says with a smirk. 

"お枚わ!", Kaiyo grumbled with gritted teeth. 

"So ends the famous Harry Potter. On his knees in the Chamber of Secrets. Defeated at last by the Dark Lord he so unwisely challenged. You'll be back with your dear Mudblood mother soon, Harry...", Tom says with a satisfied undertone. Harry glared at Tom as his arm started to turn a sickly grey. He spotted the diary next to Ginny and Kaiyo followed his view to see the diary and slowly moved them over. 

"Funny, isn't it? The damage a silly little book can do? Especially in the hands of a silly little girl", Tom bragged before seeing Harry pry the diary from Ginny's hands. "What are you doing? No. Stop...", Tom yelled lunging for Harry only to be tackled to the ground by Kaiyo. 

"Do it!", Kaiyo yelled as he kept Tom pinned to the ground. 

"No! Stop!", Tom yelled out as Harry pulled the fang out of his arm and stabbed it into the diary. A glowing hole appeared on Tom and the hole in the diary started bleeding ink. Harry stares at the glowing figure of Tom before stabbing the diary again and again. 

"No!...", Tom yells fading away. 

Harry collapses in exhaustion as Kaiyo picks himself up walking over to the bespeckled boy helping him sit up properly. 

"Ugh...", A groan alerted them both to the now awake ginger.

"Harry. It was me! But I swear I didn't mean to... Riddle made me. He wrote to me... took me over... I didn't even know whose diary it was. I found it inside my cauldron. The day we all went to Diagon Alley and... Harry. You're hurt...", Ginny says paying attention to Harry as Kaiyo backs away. He walked over to the ink-splattered diary before pocketing it to give to Dumbledore.

"Ginny. Kaiyo. You need to get yourselves out... Follow the chamber... You'll find Ron...", Harry says tired. "You were brilliant, Fawkes. I just... wasn't quick enough", Harry says as Fawks lands on his arm. 

"Phoenix tears...", Kaiyo comments as Fawks cries the tears landing on the wound. Kaiyo walked over pulling them both to their feet. 

"It's all right, Ginny. It's over. It's just a memory...", Harry says relieved. 

They started walking out of the main chamber into the tunnel. Harry was walking with Ginny behind Kaiyo as he walked ahead of them.

"Kurayami?", Ginny hesitantly asked. 

"Yes...", Kaiyo responded not bothering to turn around. 

"What was that thing you did to Tom in the hallway?", Ginny asked. Kaiyo paused for a moment before continuing to walk. 

"You saw that...", He said solemnly. 

"What was that?", Ginny asked he stayed quiet for a while. 

"Dumbledore will explain everything once we return", Kaiyo said not saying anything as they reached Ron. 

"Ginny!", Ron yells running over to his sister engulfing her in a tight hug. "You're alive. I can't believe it!", Ron says in relief. 

"I'm going to be expelled, I just know it!", Ginny cries out hugging her brother. 

"Remind you of anyone?", Ron says jokingly to Harry. 

"Where's Lockhart?", Harry asks and barely notices Kaiyo moving closer to him trying to hide behind his form.

  "His Memory Charm backfired. Hasn't got a clue who he is. I keep having to stop him from wandering off. He's a danger to himself", Ron says tired of Lockhart. 

"Hello. Odd sort of place, this, isn't it? Do you live here?", Lockahrt's voice rang out and Kaiyo tensed up in fear before shooting a glare that had the cold glint of a knife. 

"No", Ron responds annoyed. "What's with the bird?", he asked pointing at Fawks. 

"I think... I think he's telling me he can take us out of here", Harry says. Fawks flies the five out of the Chamber of Secrets and back into the bathroom.
