Chapter 13: Quidditch Again?
Days passed after someone tried following me into the Heart. I never found whoever was following me. I assumed it was Ron Weasley, but I crossed him off pretty quickly. Fred and George have no interest in following me, but rather bothering me once every blue moon. Percy has no interest in me other than enforcing ridiculous rules other perfects ignore. Ginny Weasley blots every time she even catches a glimpse of me. I have my suspicions, but even so, it doesn't make sense.
During the past few days, no one's been attacked by the monster hiding in the chamber, but there has been an increase in attacks against our house. Recently a first-year was tripped going down the moving staircases.
The teachers haven't done anything. They're more focused on the threat of the chamber while Slytherin students grow more anxious walking alone. I was fine on my own, but the group was more concerned now than ever. Draco tried to skip out on Quidditch practice to stay with us, but we never let him skip out. We kept telling him that we need him at his top game to beat Grifindor, but the truth was he was much safer with the Quidditch team which was mostly made up of older students.
I was currently in the library. I've been looking through the books of magical creatures trying to find something, anything, even a small clue about the monster. If I didn't even know what the monster was. How was I expected to fight it, let alone stop it from killing someone?
I was sitting at a table, a notebook was open next to me with the requirements I made for the monster. It was a monster that Salazar Slytherin put in the chamber himself, he was fond of snakes so it wouldn't be surprising if the monster was a deadly snake. I have no clue how it kills though. According to pst reports the chamber's monster managed to kill one student, but the student didn't have any penetrating, she wasn't poisoned, and she wasn't strangled either.
How did she die? I was shaken out of my thoughts when Granger set down her books and sat across from me.
"Granger?", I said confused. Wasn't she close with Weasley? Why is she sitting across from me?
"Am I not allowed to sit here?", She said looking at me, while taking out the rest of her supplies.
"No... I'm just confused. Why would you sit next to me?", I asked.
"I wanted to apologize for what happened with Ron and what happened", Granger said.
"It seems as if Weasley is relying on you two to solve his problems for him", I said looking at Granger. "I'll say this once and you tell Potter this too. I have no interest in accepting an apology from either of you and even less from Weasley", I said narrowing my eyes.
"Why? You could resolve this by forgiving Ron", Granger says trying to convince me not expecting me to refuse the apology. I gave an annoyed sigh shutting my book.
"That would never resolve the problem. Weasley will never see me as anything other than a Sneaky Snake who is just up to no good", I said grabbing my things and preparing to leave. As I was getting up.
"Is there really no way to fix things...", Granger says in a soft whisper.
"Granger. I have nothing against you nor Potter, but I will not let Weasley get off believing he has done nothing wrong in insulting me and constantly assuming the worst of me and my house", I said stopping my movements.
"If you want to look for what might be in the chamber of secrets you may want to start with the serpents", I finished walking away. The Quidditch game between Slytherin and Grifindors was happening today I need to make it to the pitch before the game started. I looked at the field the stands were starting to fill up. I started running to the pitch, and barely made it.
"Kaiyo! I thought you weren't going to make it", Draco said as he saw me run up to him.
"It's your first game. I wanted to wish you good luck", I said walking up to him. I gave him a hug before they were called to the game. Before they left I could see a bit of pink tainting his earlobes.
I made my way up to the Slytherin stands where Pansy and Blaise were waiting for me, Theo had already found a seat under some rare piece of shade to read. Theo wasn't into Quidditch the only reason he even showed up is that this was Draco's first game and he wanted to show support.
"Where were you?", Pansy asked as she started putting on my face paint.
"Oh, I know. He was talking with Draco wasn't he", Blaise said in a singsong manner that had Pansy and me rolling our eyes.
"Very funny Blaise. I was just wishing him good luck", I said as Pansy adjusted my head to paint a silver snake on my cheek.
"Okay you're good and just in time the match is starting!", Pansy says as the quaffle was launched into the air.
The match was going well at first. Draco and Harry had both found the snitch, but it seemed like they were egging each other on more than focusing on the snitch. Eventually, they were neck and neck, flying after the snitch. It looked like Grifindor was about to win when a bludger attacked Potter.
I couldn't do anything this time. I could only watch as the bludgers chased him around. Draco was growing frantic looking for the snitch. Whenever he flew over the Slytherin stands I could see his hands trembling.
The Gryffindor team eventually called for a time-out. Both teams landed and huddled up. The Gryffindor team looked like they were distressed no doubt from the bludgers chasing their seeker. The Slytherin team looked annoyed. Flint was pacing around, he looked like he was ranting to the team with an angry expression on his face. Draco was looking down at the pitch as well as the rest of the team.
The game resumed. Fred and George left Potter's side leaving him to fend off the bludgers himself. The game continued on as Potter looked for the snitch while dodging the bludgers. At one point Potter flew into the stands losing one of the bludgers, but Draco stopped and they looked like they were talking as the bludger still tried to ram Potter off his broom.
The snitch flew to the two, hovering above Draco's head. Potter seemed to notice it because he launched himself at Draco to try and catch it. He also got it, but a bludger rammed into his arm, breaking it. After he managed to snatch the snitch with his other hand and won the match for Gryffindor. The match was over but the bludger was still attacking Potter.
I ran down to the pitch. Draco was being yelled at by Flint and Potter was being congratulated by their house and team.
"It was flying a centimeter above your head! How did you not see it?!", Flint was yelling. He continued like that for a bit before giving an annoyed sigh and leaving for the locker room.
"It was your first game. The next game will be better you should go get cleaned up", I said to Draco was stared at the grass as if it was the most interesting thing in the world. He didn't say anything, just nodding silently and walking away.
Lockhart walked over to the group crowding Potter and a bad feeling filled my stomach. I ran after him to reach the group at the same time.
"Not to worry, Harry. I'll fix that arm of yours straight away", Lockhart says with enthusiasm.
"Excuse me, but any and all injuries are supposed to be taken straight to Madam Pomfrey", I said reaching the group and trying to stop Lockhart from damaging Potter's arm more.
"I appreciate the concern Mr. Kurayami, but I am more than qualified to fix his arm", Lockhart boosts.
"But-", I tried to say, but Lockhart had already cast the spell and removed the bones in his arm. Everyone was stunned into silence. Potter's arm flopped limply, without the bones his arm his limb was simply put a limp noodle.
"Ah. Yes. Well, that can sometimes happen. The point is, the bones are no longer broken", Lockhart says making multiple people turn in disbelief.
"Brok'n? He doesn't 'ave any bones at all!", Hagrid voices everyone's thoughts. I looked to see Potter being taken away by his friends and left.
I looked for Draco and our other friends. They were in the courtyard. Draco was back in his Hogwarts uniform, slumped down. He looked defeated as Pany and Blaise looked conflicted about how to help. I walked up to him and wrapped my arms around him.
I could feel his breath hitch before going back to normal. He slowly wrapped his arms around my waist and buried his head in my chest. Pansy and Blaise let us be walking away. We stayed there for what seemed like an eternity before Draco left for the dorms.
Dinner came around and he hadn't left the dorm. Pansy and Blaise told me not to worry, but I couldn't help but feel concerned.
Draco never came out for dinner. Theo told me if I was still worried later then I should go to the kitchen. We finished eating and returned to the dorms.
I cleaned myself up before letting the others use the bathroom. Kuro was on Draco's bed laying down next to him. He was curled up on his bed. He changed earlier when he first came into the room but didn't leave after.
I grabbed my jacket before leaving the dorm. I looked at the common room to see if anyone was still awake. No one seemed to be awake and I walked out the door.
The halls were dark and quiet. I could only hear my footsteps. The stone floors make a clicking noise against my shoes.
I found the kitchen during my summer stay at the castle. It was near the Hufflepuff common room. You had to tickle the pear of a painting nearby.
I walked past the Great Hall before hearing rapid footsteps. They were light, not in the way someone was trying to stay quiet, but more like the person making them was smaller.
The footsteps got louder and I assumed they were coming closer and closer. Before long a small mass crashed into me knocking us both down to the ground.
"Ow!", I hear beside me. It was Colin Creevey. The Harry Potter fanboy that followed him everywhere, snapping pictures every second.
"What are you doing out of bed?!", I whisper and yelled.
"I-I wanted to get a picture of Harry before his arm healed tomorrow", Creevey said stuttering.
"Go back to bed. It's too dangerous for you to be out at this time, and Potter doesn't need you taking pictures of him in his sleep", I said in a stern tone.
"B-but-", Creezey tried to say.
"Go now", I said walking away, but at that moment I could feel something moving.
"Creezey", I said breathlessly.
"Yes?", Creezey said back confused.
"Run", I said looking around.
"What?", Creezey asked tilting his head. There wasn't time for this. I grabbed Creezey's arm before running. I could hear the sound of something big slithering behind us, gaining. I swung him forward turning around.
"Keep running. Don't look back and find a teacher. Madam Pomfrey might still be in the infirmary!", I yelled. Creevey didn't run.
"Go!", I yelled which made him start running.
I couldn't risk anything. There were numerous amounts of magical monsters that were serpent-like. I didn't have time to eliminate any of them properly. I shut my eyes. Taking out my dagger I ran to the mass I could sense through the shadows along the walls and floors. The dagger dug deep into a large mass. I could feel the blood fall onto my clothes and the bridge of my nose. The monster screeched in pain before rushing forward to bite me.
I pulled the dagger out before jumping back. The monster rushed at me again I jumped back again, but a long appendage hit me in the back slamming me into one of the statues decorating the hall.
My back felt wet. I struggled to get up only able to get on my knees using the wall as a crutch.
"Look out!", no.
I opened my eyes. Creezey was there standing at the end of the hall holding his camera to his face. I could see his body go stiff. The monster was about to kill me there, but a flurry of footsteps made their way down the hallway and it slithered away.
I could see Professor McGonagall tending to her lion as Professor Snape ran to where I was. He was saying something, but I couldn't hear him. The sound around me seemed muffled, and my vision was blurring.
Snape pulled his hand away from my back. It looked like it was stained with something before turning to me he looked angry. He started yelling, but my vision faded before I could hear anything.
