11.
Jungkook felt as light as a feather.
Sleeping in Taehyung's arms felt unreal. He felt giddy. Like he a mere teenager and in love all over again. He couldn't help but feel as if the universe or whatever God is out there decided to give a second chance.
However, in all stories there was always a moment of realisation that perhaps the good, the calm before the storm won't last forever. And as Jungkook lay away next to Taehyung, he had that moment.
After wildly kissing Taehyung, the older gently pushed Jungkook away, whispering hotly, "as much as I want to do this right now, you need time." Jungkook can't forget the way Taehyung's lips glistened, eyes dark and heavy with lust. As much as Taehyung was right, Jungkook's fingers itched to feel the skin under Taehyung's clothes, the stretchy, elasticity of his tan skin.
But he didn't want to seem desperate, and so Taehyung led the younger in his room. "You take the bed, I'll sleep in the other room since my rooms more comfortable," he says. Jungkook nods, and then realises that he doesn't really want to be alone.
As Taehyung walks out, Jungkook stops him. Holding him by his wrist, "stay. Just sleep next to me," he whispers. And Taehyung turns to look at him, seeing Jungkook silently beg with his eyes to not be left alone.
"Okay," Taehyung replies.
And the two of them get ready to go sleep together.
Jungkook and Taehyung.
As they bustle around the room, Taehyung heads into the bathroom and Jungkook can hear as the older washes his face before brushing his teeth.
Sighing, Jungkook quickly gets changed into a baggy T-shirt and sleeping bottoms. He can't help but feel like a burden upon Taehyung's mind. And the only reason for that is because of their recent events.
The problem was. They kept kissing like they meant it. But would stop because it wasn't right.
It didn't make sense. It wasn't right, or the moment wasn't right.
Jungkook gulps when he realises that maybe Taehyung doesn't want this. Hence why the older always pushes the younger away. Maybe he just kisses Jungkook out of familiarity, and then stops when he gets bored.
Is that why he didn't want to let the two continue into doing something more?
"Get ahold of yourself Jungkook, this isn't about sex," Jungkook says to himself, lightly hitting his head as he sits down on Taehyung's bed. At this point, Jungkook knew that he was just being ridiculous and overthinking himself into a mood.
Taehyung heads out of the bathroom with a face towel, wiping his face softly. He smiles at Jungkook, "you can go in now," he says, walking over to his closet.
Jungkook smiles gratefully.
"Thanks for letting me stay here," Jungkook says, following after Taehyung instead of heading into the bathroom.
He leans against the door way of Taehyung's walk-in closet. Watching the older rummage for some clothes. Taehyung looks up at Jungkook, "there's no need to thank me Jungkook," he purrs. And Jungkook almost blushes at the way his name rolls off of Taehyung's tongue.
"No seriously," Jungkook begins, crossing his arms, "I would be sleeping in my car if it wasn't for you. Everyone else is either sleeping or they don't have space for me. You're the only one who stays awake this late and lives alone...weirdo," Jungkook adds in cheekily.
Taehyung glares at Jungkook playfully, and smirks. Without a word, he begins to unbutton his shirt, pulling it off. Jungkook's eyes widen at Taehyung's sudden action, but as he absorbs the older's body, he gulps. A harsh, dry gulp.
His eyes can't help themselves, and they trail downwards, slowly, drinking in the sight that is Kim Taehyung.
Taehyung was so utterly beautiful.
His lean body, toned from the bottom to the top. The way he stood, so delicate yet elegant. Slender. And proportioned to the gods.
Taehyung doesn't notice Jungkook's eager eyes as he turns.
Jungkook smiles slightly, eyes trailing down Taehyung's back muscles. He scans everything, from his shoulders, to this dip in his spine. And then finally to the back ink on his lower back, right before his trousers. Jungkook's eyes narrow, what is that?
Jungkook straightens, and he's just about to ask, when Taehyung slides on a t-shirt. And just like that the opportunity is gone.
Taehyung turns around, looking at Jungkook expectedly. It's then that Jungkook realises that Taehyung's waiting for him to leave. "Oh! Sorry," he mumbles quickly, turning into a deep shade of red before he runs out. Walking quickly into the bathroom to freshen up for the night.
By the time he's done, Taehyung's waiting for him in he's bedroom, sitting on the bed, scrolling on his phones
"You ready to go sleep?"
Jungkook nods, walking to the right side. "I know you like sleeping on the left," Jungkook says quietly, pulling the covers away, slipping into the bed. Taehyung chuckles, "you remember?" Jungkook nods, "of course I do, it's like muscle memory."
Taehyung stares at Jungkook with sparkling eyes, before he walks over to the left, and gets into the bed.
Jungkook becomes hyper aware of Taehyung's body that is right next to his. Thighs pressed flush against each other. His heart thuds against his chest, beating against his rib cages so powerfully that he feels as if there's the possibility that his bones could crumble against the power of his heart.
He slides further into the sheets.
Taehyung does the same, and faces Jungkook. Jungkook slowly turns around, a small gasp elicits from his parted lips as he takes in the beauty that is Taehyung. "How are you feeling?" Taehyung asks quietly, his breath falling into Jungkook's red nose. Jungkook can't miss the minty smell, and breathes it in.
This all felt way too familiar.
"I'm okay Taehyung." Jungkook says, but he wishes that he actually meant it. Because in reality, his mind felt like it was set ablaze to a raging inferno.
"I know when you're lying to me Jungkook, but I'll give you some time. Now turn," Taehyung says, placing his large hand on Jungkook's hip, slightly pushing the younger's body. "Turn?" Jungkook repeats in a little bit of confusion. Taehyung sighs, "so that I can go sleep," he says.
"Oh," Jungkook says. He remembers the way Taehyung likes to sleep. Hugging something or someone. Jungkook turns around slowly, facing the room. And he gasps when he feels Taehyung's arm wrap around his stomach, pulling him flush against the older. His eyes close in comfort when he feels every part of his body against Taehyung's.
They fit together like two puzzle pieces.
Taehyung sighs in bliss, snuggling closer to the back of Jungkook's neck, placing a chaste kiss on his skin. Jungkook melts into his arms like ice cream on a warm summer afternoon.
"Sleep," Taehyung whispers, caressing Jungkook's arm, up and down with his own nimble fingers. And for a while, Jungkook feels comfort. That is until Taehyung falls into a sleep and rolls to the other side.
Leaving Jungkook half awake with his thoughts in the middle of the night.
Jungkook sighs, sleeping on his back. Eyes staring at the ceiling with discontent.
He doesn't know how many minutes pass by, not until a groggy voice rasps out, "why are you awake at three am in the morning?" Jungkook turns his head to the side, and sees Taehyung lifting his head slightly, eyes still closed, lips in a pout, all red and puffy.
"I've just been thinking about some things," Jungkook says quietly. "Like what?" Taehyung asks, falling back onto the bed, his voice deep and low, deeper than it usually is due to having just woken up.
Jungkook pauses, and thinks about what he's going to say for a few moments. He considers not asking Taehyung, or even bringing it up. But then thinks oh to hell with it, and decides to ask the older regardless.
"Taehyung...what did you go through in the last five years to have this many secrets about your past?" Jungkook asks, now facing Taehyung, who is sleeping with his face down on his pillow, arms hooked underneath.
Jungkook sees Taehyung's back stiffen for a moment, before he replies, "does this really have to happen right now?" He asks, eyes still closed. And Jungkook sighs in reply. "Why don't you want to talk about it?"
"Because it's difficult too," Taehyung snaps. Jungkook fully sits up, looking at Taehyung, who, with a groan, sits up too. "So you're just going to push me away? You're going to shut me out every time I ask?" Jungkook says, pulling at the duvet covers.
Taehyung stands up, turning his bedroom light on, moaning at the light entering his eyesight sharply, "I'm not pushing you away. I'm just saying give me time!"
Scoffing, Jungkook throws his hands up in the air, "oh yeah, because that's what we have loads of right now...time!" He tries his best to keep his calm tone.
Taehyung paces in front of Jungkook, walking back and forth, "why are you being like this?" he asks with some sort of exhaustion laced in his voice.
"Being like what?"
Now it's Taehyung's turn to scoff, "seriously?" Taehyung begins, looking at Jungkook, "you're just being so fucking unreasonable Jungkook! How can you not fucking see that?"
Jungkook looks at Taehyung with incredible shock in his eyes, "I'm being unreasonable?"
Taehyung nods with passion, "fuck yeah you are. You haven't been here for 24 hours and you're already walking around causing weird and tense shit to happen! Like that thing with Jennie, you didn't even care to ask what happened you just decided to throw a hissy fit...and now this! What are you? A child," Taehyung hisses.
Jungkook's eyes become a little bit glassy, but he covers it back up. It's a shit job at concealing his hurt feelings because Taehyung notices almost immediately after those hurtful words have left his mouth like a poisonous venom.
His hard eyes soften as he looks at Jungkook. The younger stands up, "right," he begins, walking towards Taehyung, "it's nice to know what you think of me," he says softly. Jungkook walks out of Taehyung's bedroom.
Taehyung follows after Jungkook, "no, Jungkook...Fuck! I'm sorry...just come back," he rushes out, stumbling over the words to say. His apology comes in broken stammers and words; Jungkook almost chuckles in irony. His previous words left his mouth to easily but now things were different.
Jungkook shakes his head, "I'm not trying to throw a hissy fit or anything. But it's best if I sleep in a separate room to you. Tomorrow I'll find a hotel to stay at. Thanks for letting me stay the night," he speaks softly, and quickly – trying to get away from Taehyung as soon as possible.
The older pauses, before he follows Jungkook again, "what no, there's no need Jungkook. Just stay," Taehyung begs.
Fuck, Taehyung was so fucking stupid. He always let his mouth get the best of him and for what? He always ruined shit when things were good.
With a sigh, Taehyung grabs onto Jungkook's hand, holding him in place. Jungkook gasps, trying to pull away from the elder but it doesn't work. It's no use at all. Taehyung walks forward, to stand in front of his Jungkook.
"I'm sorry."
Jungkook can only look at Taehyung, unforgiving, cold and most of all hurt. He was only trying to understand Taehyung better, he didn't have no intentions in making the air between the two tense and sour.
"It's fine," Jungkook diminishes the matter with the wave of his hand and tries to step around Taehyung but he doesn't allow that to happen. And once more, he stops Jungkook from walking away.
He looks down at Jungkook, lifting his hands to push Jungkook's bangs out of his eyes, to get an even better look at the younger. "I...I don't like talking about it because it was such a dark time in my life...after you left...I mean, after I pushed you to leave," Taehyung begins.
Jungkook reaches upwards, fingers pushing Taehyung's curly locks back as he stares at the male before him. He swears he's never felt this much emotion for anyone, until right now. His heart expanding three times the size as he realises just how much Taehyung went through to become who he is today. And all he felt was sympathy and pain for Taehyung.
Taehyung's eyes flutter close at Jungkook's action, and he leans forward slightly, further into Jungkook. Jungkook watches, and there's no way to explain how he feels when Taehyung's lips part, a slow groan emitting from his plush lips. "I'm here now Tae, isn't that all that matters," Jungkook whispers, hands moving down to cup Taehyung's jaw.
Opening his eyes, Taehyung looks at Jungkook with sadness, "I wish it was Jungkook. But like you said, it's too complicated," he mumbles, detaching himself from the younger.
Jungkook can't help but feel a little dejected, but nevertheless, pushes his feelings to the side as he watches Taehyung sit down on his sofa. The older pats the seat beside him, signalling Jungkook to sit down next to him.
"I guess it started even before you left," Taehyung begins, rubbing his face as he leans forward slightly, doing his best to not make eye contact with the younger, who's eyes were glassy and sparkling under the lights. Taehyung swore by the fact that Jungkook's eyes could make even the coldest of men fall to their knees in submission.
Jungkook puts his hand on Taehyung's knee, squeezing slightly, "it's okay, take your time," he whispers. Taehyung eyes the hand on his knee before continuing, "you know that growing up I was heavily influenced by the wrong people...especially in college. I mean I used to be shit faced daily, I didn't know how you dealt with me," Taehyung says, chuckling lightly but Jungkook knows Taehyung is far from joking.
"Jimin and I...we were too involved with it. I think the day I cheated on you with him...Yoongi and him had an argument, I don't know what it was about really. Briefly, I remember Yoongi trying to get Jimin to stop using, and they had a massive fall out and Jimin came to me about it,"
Jungkook listens closely to Taehyung's words, and he can't help but feel a pang of hurt in his heat as he begins to explain how and why he cheated on the younger all those years ago.
"Around the same time, you and I weren't so good either. We were young. But you were way too mature for your age. You focused on making money for the both of us, and I focused on putting it up my nose or rolling it with weed. Jimin and I... we understood each other," Taehyung whispers deeply.
Jungkook's lips part at those words. Taehyung...what was Taehyung trying to say?
"It wasn't the first time."
Eyes widening, Jungkook stands up, "what?" he asks, in a breathless whisper. He knows what he heard, and he knows what Taehyung meant but...what the fuck?
"You...that day when I had found out...it wasn't the first time?" Jungkook's voice is steady as he speaks, looking down at Taehyung with shock.
It takes Taehyung's a long moment to answer.
"No, it wasn't the first time," his voice is dull.
"Stand up," Jungkook whispers, the shock slowly dying out, anger lacing his voice. Taehyung stands up slowly, and faces Jungkook. Jungkook blinks for a few moments, "you know, I never got to do this all those years ago," he begins. And before Taehyung can respond, Jungkook raises his hand and slaps Taehyung.
Taehyung jerks to the side, cheek stinging. He turns back to face Jungkook after a couple of seconds. Jungkook sighs, sitting down, "how many times?"
Doing the same, Taehyung answers, "it wasn't anything serious like sleeping together, not until that day. He kissed me a couple of times but I was sober enough to push him away. That day Jungkook was the day I..."
Taehyung looks at Jungkook. He knows, whatever he's going to say next is pointless. It's pointless now, and it was pointless five years ago.
"Anyways. After the divorce, it left me in a really shitty place. The same for Jimin, he lost you too. And..." Taehyung trails off, considering if he should admit to whatever he was going too next.
Jungkook looks at him, "whatever you want to say. Just say it. It's too late to regret whatever the fuck you did now," it's obvious with Jungkook's tone that the younger was madly pissed with Taehyung, but Taehyung appreciated that Jungkook was still allowing him to explain things.
"For a few months after you left, Jimin and I were seeing each other."
Jungkook's mouth opens in complete and absolute shock as he stares at Taehyung, "you're a fucking snake," Jungkook says as he stands up, once again. "You're a fucking snake," Jungkook repeats. He paces in front of Taehyung, "what? Were you in love with him all along?" Jungkook spits out. "Answer me!" He screams.
"No! I wasn't fucking in love with him. I was just lonely," Taehyung replies standing up. Jungkook looks at him, a dry laugh leaving his lips, "oh? So that gave you the best reason to stick your dick up him? Great Taehyung! Just fantastic, the next time I feel lonely I'll look for maybe your best friend and fuck him!" Jungkook says with a smile.
Taehyung's eyes narrow, "watch your mouth," he says, "I get that you're pissed but watch what you say."
Jungkook's eyes widen even more if that's possible, "oh yeah? You watch who you slip your dick into, you absolute - fucking - idiot - Taehyung you ruined - everything - between us," Jungkook screams as he hits Taehyung's chest with his fists every few words.
Taehyung holds Jungkook, preventing Jungkook from hitting him any further. Jungkook begins to sob, his shoulders shaking as he repeats the words, "I hate you," like a mantra. Taehyung pulls Jungkook in closer, his eyes closing as he feels every ounce of regret fill him up like he was a wine glass.
"I know," Taehyung says, stroking Jungkook's hair, trying to calm the younger down the best he could.
"You ruined everything between us," Jungkook's voice is muffled, but definitely more calmer, "you chased after me that day Taehyung. You told me that it had never happened before and now you're telling me that it had. And it continued to happen after I found out. You lied. You lied to me. And you didn't fight for me, you didn't. You let me leave. You watched me sign those papers with no remote and now...you're trying to explain yourself? Taehyung I will never forgive you for this," Jungkook emphasises, pulling away from Taehyung as he wipes his eyes.
"I know," Taehyung says once more, looking down at Jungkook.
"If you don't want to hear the rest then I completely understand," Taehyung adds. Shaking his head, Jungkook replies, "no...whether I like it or not, you and I are tied to this case and it's better to know than to not know and be confused along the way."
Taehyung nods, retaking his seat on the sofa.
Jungkook stares into the distance. One thing for sure, the next day he was leaving. He couldn't stand to stay with Taehyung upon hearing the news. It wouldn't be fair on his mind, which was already having a hard time trying to comprehend what the fuck was going on, and now it was supposed to just accept that Taehyung didn't just cheat on him, he betrayed Jungkook. Multiple times.
"After that, I just fell into a deep depression and I decided that snorting coke wasn't enough. I needed more. I wanted more power over my life. Seokjin...he's not my brother, he's my half brother. I found out about him about six months after you left, he got me into his family shit. But it isn't his family...it's my family too."
"Family?"
Taking a deep breath, "The Kim family is one of the biggest known mafia families to this day. And I happened to be a part of it due to Jin. Since I was young, I basically matured into the mafia, the etiquettes and the rules. I became what I think you'd hate right now."
Jungkook can only look at Taehyung in confusion, "does that mean..." he trails off.
"I've done some things. Some bad things that I used to think were okay because of the power that I earned. It starts off with proving your loyalty and then...it goes from having to do it, to willingly do it because you like it. You like the thrill, the adrenaline," the way Taehyung speaks. Misty eyed and soft, it makes Jungkook think that maybe Taehyung did like it.
He shakes his head, "but anyways,"
"Somehow, I got out of it. And became who I am now."
Jungkook clears his throat, "so you met up with Jin, I'm assuming...and why was that?" He asks, leaning backwards, as far away from Taehyung as possible. "Because I...had a realisation when we met up with Yoongi. That just because I left this life, doesn't mean Jimin did. And to get the answers I need, I have to go back."
Jungkook doesn't know what to say. He's stuck looking at Taehyung who is looking down at his palms sadly.
But he knows that in this moment he must comfort Taehyung. Regardless of how he felt towards the elder right now, he had to give Taehyung some sort of reassurance that everything is going to be okay; he couldn't just leave Taehyung hanging in the dark maz
He shifts forward in his seat, sliding forward until his legs are touching Taehyung's. "Look at me," he says, voice clear. Taehyung does not raise his head. Jungkook sighs, reaches out, using his own hands to lift Taehyung's head to meet his eyes, "everything's going to be okay," he urges.
Taehyung shakes his head, "how do you have the courage to say that when I've literally just explained to you how messed things are and it's all because of me," Taehyung's eyes begin to water. "No...no hey Taehyung look at me," Jungkook rushes out, "look...I admit, and I won't lie to you, some things you did fuck up colossally...but you'll figure things out. We'll figure things."
Pushing himself away from Jungkook, Taehyung sighs, "let's just sleep on it for now, we'll talk about it later...soon. Let's just go back to bed for now. I'll sleep in the other room," he says. Jungkook's brows furrow as he too stands up, "Taehyung," whispers Jungkook, as he reaches out to stop the older from walking.
Lately, that's all it felt like between the two. Stopping each other from walking away, and Jungkook didn't know how long it was going to take until one of them grows tired of it, but for now, no matter how angry he was at Taehyung, he knew he'd get over it.
"I know I'm mad at you right now, but that doesn't change the way I feel about you. It just gives me something to think about and I'll get over it, you know that," Jungkook says, trying his best to reassure Taehyung.
Taehyung smiles softly, reaching upwards to trace Jungkook's jaw with his fingers, "you shouldn't have to get over it. I should be the one begging for forgiveness," he says, pressing his lips against Jungkook's temple.
Jungkook's lips part as he feels sparks erupt in his stomach, and he scolds himself for having these feelings.
"Believe me, you'll be begging for forgiveness...but not right now, we have other things to focus on," Jungkook says, pulling away.
Taehyung chuckles, rubbing the back of his neck. Jungkook takes Taehyung's hand in his, grasping it softly, "come, let's finally go to sleep."
—
"So, about what I told you last night? How are you feeling?"
It's the next morning, Taehyung and Jungkook are eating breakfast together. Jungkook is in the middle of taking a long sip of his coffee when Taehyung asks him a question. Jungkook pauses, glancing up at his warm coffee, "there were many things that you told me last night," Jungkook says softly.
Taehyung puts his phone down, "about what I used to do...my line of work per say."
Jungkook shrugs, "I can't really say much or judge your past. If that's who you are then that is who you are. But, all I ask is that you are still the Taehyung that I know. You still have your morals and you don't become this cold hearted asshole who kills for pleasure."
Taehyung stares at Jungkook, you don't become powerful by being kind, he almost wants to say. But stops himself before he can. He merely nods, and continues to eat his own breakfast.
What Jungkook doesn't know, doesn't have to hurt him.
Jungkook sighs, "well I've got to go into work today. I still have to market that creepy book, and finish reading it but I'm kind of scared to do so," he says, standing up and collecting both of their dishes, heading over to the sink.
Taehyung stands up with a sigh, gently pushing Jungkook away from the sink with his large hands on his hip, before he takes his place in front of the sink, immediately getting to washing the dishes. Jungkook picks up and towel and works along side Taehyung.
"Why are you scared of reading it?"
Jungkook shrugs, "the theory of it. Whoever wrote it, is saying that they completed my life story for me. So whatever happens in the future, in the book, it's just scary because what if it happens in real life?"
"But what if it doesn't," Taehyung reasons.
Jungkook shrugs, "you're right. It's just crazy and there's no way to really explain it," he replies, giving Taehyung a quick glance. And then he remembers that he needs to tell Taehyung about Detective Lee.
"Also," Jungkook begins, trailing off, not knowing how Taehyung was going to take the news, "I have something I need to tell you." Taehyung finishes washing the dishes, wiping his hands with a paper towel before throwing it away, he looks at Jungkook with the tilt of his head, "what is it?" he asks.
Gulping, Jungkook replies, "last night, I paid detective Lee a visit." Taehyung leans against his kitchen counter, arm muscles stretching under his work shirt, "yeah? What about it?" Jungkook looks at Taehyung, "and I told him that we're sort of doing our own thing to figure out what happened to Jimin, and he's on our side. That means we have to fill him in on everything," Jungkook explains cautiously.
Taehyung blinks.
"Taehyung? Say something?" Jungkook asks, waving his hand in front of Taehyung's face.
With a groan, Taehyung walks away from Jungkook, "Jungkook how incredibly stupid can you be?" He asks, rubbing his face. Jungkook frowns, "what the fuck," he mumbles, more to himself before following after Taehyung like a lost puppy.
"Why? What did I do wrong?" he asks softly, eyes growing big and wide when Taehyung turns to look at him. Sighing, Taehyung steps forward, "Jungkook. With my past, and the police involved, who's to say that after solving this case they don't fuck me over too? I don't have the best track record, and it won't get any cleaner," he says softly.
"But..I'm sorry," Jungkook whispers, shoulders slumping. Taehyung smiles softly, but Jungkook can still see the worry in them. And the smile clearly doesn't reach his eyes, "it's okay Jungkook, I'll figure it out. I'll have to talk to detective Lee though...it won't be a fun talk. The police hated us. I'm sure they hate us more," Taehyung laughs.
Jungkook only smiles a little, nodding. He thought by going to detective Lee it would be a help to them? But right now, he just felt like a nuisance.
"Well, I'm going to be leaving for work now Taehyung.. and oh! I forgot to tell you, I found a hotel to stay at, it's pretty good, so...thanks for letting me stay the night and eat breakfast here but I won't stay any longer. I'll be out of your hair," Jungkook says quickly, shrugging his coat on, while grabbing his keys.
Taehyung frowns. He doesn't want Jungkook to leave.
"Why won't you stay? Is this about last night?" Taehyung asks. Now it's his turn to follow Jungkook around like a lost puppy.
Jungkook dismisses it with the wave of his hand, fussing around to grab all of his stuff together, "no no, It'll just complicate things if we stay under the same roof," he says.
"Jungkook I know that it makes things way more difficult than it was supposed to be, but you don't have to stay somewhere else, it isn't safe," Taehyung tries to reason, watching with wide eyes as Jungkook carries his suitcase from the bedroom, through the living area and placing it in front of the door.
Jungkook places his hands on his hips, looking at Taehyung with stern eyes, "let me this everything going on in our lives right now Tae. Number one, we're divorced husbands living together. Two, our friend Jimin, is literally missing. Three, Mark, my boyfriend, turned into the biggest jerk going. Four, you're some mafia underground leader cult group thing. Five, there's some creep writing books about us. Need I go on? Is living together really the best thing," Jungkook finally asks, staring at Taehyung.
Taehyung steps forward, "I know that you don't want to be here right now. With me. But I won't stop fighting for you Jungkook. Because things might not be the best right now, but I feel that I'm at my best when you're around," he stares into Jungkook's eyes.
Jungkook looks away before a blush could cover the apples of his cheeks, "correction, you stopped fighting for me five years ago when you lied to me and only told me the truth because I basically forced you too."
A long silence stretches between the two of them.
No matter how Jungkook feels about Taehyung, he could not let the older's words and actions sway him from what kept him going those five years. That Taehyung, no matter how hard he expressed his love for Jungkook, had already cheated on him. And there was no going back from that.
Jungkook thought he'd gotten over it.
But the news that Taehyung had told him the previous night, it threw Jungkook back into that deep, rough, ice cold pit he thought he had climbed out of. And it left Jungkook wondering if he had even left the pit in the first place.
It would take a while for Jungkook to come to terms with it. And he's pretty sure that Taehyung wouldn't stop. He's pretty sure that Taehyung feels the same as him. But even Taehyung knew that Jungkook needed time. He needed time to reevaluate their situation.
Many things were all going on at once in their lives, and it was getting harder to wrap their heads around the idea that the possibility of them could be more prominent the more they spent time together. Like Taehyung had said, making up for lost time, but in the worst circumstances to ever exist.
Jungkook sighs, running a hand through his hair, "look I've got to go to work before the traffic hits," he then stuffs his phone into his pocket. Taehyung reaches out before Jungkook can move any further, "Jungkook," he says quickly. Jungkook looks down at their hands, and he can't help but feel that their hands were meant to be, meant to fit together like that. But he pushes those feelings away, along with the fluttering of his poor, and exhausted heart.
"Just...just think about it, okay? Please don't go," Taehyung whispers. The I need you remaining on the tip of his tongue.
Taehyung looks at Jungkook, and he knows that he does not deserve the younger. Jungkook, who he betrayed, lied too, and kept secrets from. But he can't help but be in love with his one and only love. How could he ever stop loving him?
He made mistakes, and Taehyung knew they were big mistakes. But love makes a person do crazy, unexplainable things...no?
The way he felt when he looked at Jungkook. The way his heart rattled against his rib cages, stomach tightening and eyes softening: that alone was confirmation that Taehyung is a stupid man for letting Jungkook go in the first place, and that even though he made the mistake of cheating, he should've begged, changed and he should have became the perfect man for Jungkook.
And Taehyung truly wishes he could go back in time. But he couldn't.
At least one thing he was grateful for, was getting to see the man Jungkook became, even under the unfortunate situations, truly, it had felt like Taehyung had fallen in love with Jungkook all over again.
Jungkook nods, "I'll...think about it," he says before opening the door, and heading out. Taehyung stares at the door, long after Jungkook leaves. And with a sigh, he mumbles, "I'm sorry."
Taehyung has multiple things to be sorry for. But breaking Jungkook's heart countless times, was at the top of the god forsaken list.
