Epilogue
Skylar sat at the table in her dining room, trying to finish up her homework before hanging out with Paul. Through the past few weeks, she had managed to spend as much time with Paul and less time with Bella as possible.
She could tell that Bella had been trying to repair the relationship between the twins, but Skylar was serious when she said that things would never be the same. The thought of her sister hanging out with Edward and the bloodsucker's family still made Skylar's blood boil.
Her thoughts were interrupted by a hand on her shoulder and the laughing that followed when she jumped. Paul stood behind her, a wide smile across his face. "Hi. I did knock."
Skylar simply raised her eyebrows, smiling just as big. Paul reached down and scooped her up, ignoring her squealing as he held her bridal style to his chest. "It's been too long since I've seen you."
Skylar laughed. "It's been like, two days."
"Hmm," Paul mumbled. "Two days too long."
"Okay, big guy," she teased. "What do you want to do today?"
He didn't reply. He just leaned forward and placed his forehead against hers, smiling at her reaction. Placing a chaste kiss on her lips, he whispered, "As long as I'm with you, I don't care."
Skylar scrunched her nose up. "That sounds so freaking cliché. Honestly, before I met you I hated that type of shit."
"Well, you sure know how to spice up the mood. Seriously, what a romantic babe I've got here," Paul groaned. Laughing, Skylar shook her head and smiled up at him.
Smirking at her, Paul set her down. "I thought maybe we'd go over to Emily's place today. The pack is supposed to head over there today, anyways."
"Okay. Yeah, that actually sounds really nice. Just let me go grab a jacket," Skylar said, only to be stopped by Paul's arm wrapping around her.
"Why do you need a coat?" Paul asked. "I'm like, a 108 degrees over here. Your own personal heater."
Skylar rolled her eyes. "Fine. Let's go." Readjusting his arm over her shoulder, Paul led Skylar away from the table and to the front door.
"I'm actually glad you got me now," Skylar began. "That trig homework was beginning to be a bitch to do."
"Glad I could-"
Paul cut himself off and stiffened, making Skylar look up. Her face twitched when she saw Edward and Bella walk towards the house. Gripping Paul's hand, she began to walk to Paul's truck when Bella stopped her. "Um, Sky? Can I talk to you for a second?"
Skylar debated in her head for a moment. "I'm actually about to head out." Edward, reading Skylar's mind, furrowed his eyebrows. "Skylar. She needs to talk to you."
"You don't talk to her, bloodsucker," Paul growled out. Jerking his imprints hand, he walked for his truck.
"Skylar, please," Bella began, her face grimacing with hurt. "It'll just a take a second."
The said girl glanced up at Paul, nodding. "It's okay. I'll be right there." He frowned before cupping her cheek and pecking her lips. "Hurry back." Giving one last glare at Edward, Paul went on without Skylar.
Skylar looked back at the pair. "I'm only talking to you if he's not here," she said, motioning towards Edward. He nodded and ran from sight, disappearing quickly. The sudden vanishing still freaked Skylar out a little.
Bella peeked up at her sister. "How are you?"
"What did you want to talk about?" Skylar bluntly asked, ignoring the wounded look that flashed across Bella's face.
"Um... We talked, Edward and me. And um, we sort of discussed about a few things."
"What things?" Skylar asked, confused on how this affected her.
"Skylar... Edward asked me to marry him," Bella whispered.
The twin's eyes widened. "What did you say?"
"I don't – I don't know yet. I didn't give him an answer."
Skylar scoffed. "And what? You want me to help plan a perfectly white wedding-"
"Skylar that's not all," Bella began.
"What else could there be?"
Bella stuttered, giving the ground a long, hard stare before looking back up at her sister. "Skylar, I'm changing into one of them... I'm becoming a vampire after graduation."
