What She Forgot
Rhy's POV
---
After Cassian, Az and I found Feyre in the middle of the outcropping in the Summer Court, I couldn't hold back my emotions. It had been two long weeks of endless nights and restless days, plotting and trying to figure when and how we would execute our plans to get my Mate back.
Sebastian stayed with Madja most of the time, even though he wouldn't stop screaming and crying for his mother. I can't even begin to describe how much I felt for him. I wanted Feyre back more than anything in my life, but we had to think strategically about this. Our forces couldn't just bum-rush the rebels, we couldn't possibly tell what was happening in there. So we sent Summer Court spies in, after we'd gotten a lock on her location.
They relayed information to us for a week after we found her. I can't believe I couldn't find her for a week. I silently cursed myself.
After we'd rescued Feyre, and she passed out, I winnowed is all back to Adriata, to a nearby hospital. The doctors and healers were waiting for us when we arrived.
Cassian and I have been waiting in the waiting room for eight hours now, waiting for the doctors to come back and tell us something. Ax left a little while ago so he could work on battle maps, but the two of us both know that he just wanted to go be with Sebastian.
I was sprawled our on the chair, drinking my fifth cup of espresso when a doctor in blue scrubs walked out, a smaller nurse trailing him.
"High Lord?" He questioned.
Cassian and I immediately shot up to our feet and raced to the doctor. I ran a hand through my unruly hair.
"Yes? How is my Mate? Is my wife okay?" I asked anxiously.
"She is alive for the time being. We managed to get the swelling in her brain to go down, but there has been significant trauma to her brain. It's most likely she won't remember some things. It's also very plausible that she may have new memories, one that were created in her mind but her captures.
"Now despite being healed numerous times after her torture, there is lots of scarring. She also had five broken ribs, a broken wrist and a punctured lung. Her leg had also appeared to have been stabbed on arrival and we managed to get that bandaged up as well." He said, completely calm.
I stood there in shock, trying to comprehend what was happening to my Mate. I started crying into my hands but when Cassian cleared his throat, I stopped and looked at the doctor.
"I'm going to take you back to see her in a moment, but i'm warning you now, it won't look pretty, she has tubes down her throat and bruises everywhere. I highly suggest you use a lot of caution when it comes to talking about what happened. If you say the wrong thing, her blood pressure could sky rocket and she could flatline." He said, sounding sympathetic.
The doctor led Cassian and I down a dimly lit hall. The doctor opened the last door on the right. Cassian stood guard at the door and the doctor whispered his goodbyes.
I slowly walked to her bedside and pulled up a chair that had been left in the corner. The room was fairly big, even though she was the only patient in the room. The light blue walls felt like they were closing in, but I couldn't break down, not yet. Not when my Mate needed me the most.
I slightly grabbed her hand, noticing the bruise marks around her wrist. He must have strapped her to a table. That was how the bastard did it, I realized.
Anger swept over me like a second person but it vanished as soon as I felt Feyre stir under my touch.
Her eyes fluttered open. Confusion, pain and hurt clouded her eyes but in a second, it vanished.
Feyre tried to move her body closer to her mine but when she realized her body was practically broken, she winced at the pain. In that moment I wanted to take it all away, put it on my shoulders so she would be perfectly fine.
"Feyre, baby, please don't try. You're hurting. Just rest." I urged. Since she was still poisoned by the excessive doses of Feybane, I had no way of talking to her, since she had a tube down her throat.
She did her best to move her bruised her hand out of mine, only to start writing something in my hand.

She looked at me with hopeful eyes.
"Yes Feyre darling, it's real. I'm here; I'm alive; you're alive; you're safe now." I said, lightly squeezing her hand.
My heart swelled with compassion and pity when she let out a breath and a single tear.
Over the next few days, she spent lots of time recovering and I was with her for every second of it.
Cassian has visited. I'd left while he broke down with Feyre after seeing how badly she'd been treated. They spent sometime catching up after she'd gotten the tube pulled out.
Az had visited with Bash but when he saw Feyre he started crying really hard and refused to go near her, which broke Feyre's heart into a million pieces. Once our bond was back, she wouldn't stop talking. We'd often make fun of people together and just share a laugh between ourselves.
The doctor discharged Feyre a week after her surgery, telling her to take it easy for the next few months.
That same night Feyre was sitting on our bed, looking around our room.
"What is it darling?" I asked.
"I just... I never thought I'd be back here. I paid the price for my family and I thought that was the end of the road..." She said, disbelievingly.
I walked over to her and placed a kiss on her head. She pulled me into a tight hug, her head laying on my chest.
She pulled away after a few minutes.
"Go ahead, ask me." She said calmly.
"When will you show me what happened?" Showing because talking would be too much. Showing because talking would make things real, and I wanted to spare her from having a panic attack.
"Can I show you tomorrow? I'm tired and I just want to be held right now." She looked at me with tired eyes.
"Of course Feyre darling. Come on." I grabbed her hand and tugged her towards our bed.
I lifted the sheets and climbed in, Feyre already laying in front of me. I smoothed and kissed her hair and wrapped my arms around her, holding on for dear life.
We mumbled our goodnights and fell asleep.
