The Night It Happened

Feyre woke up the following with a growing sense of peace she hadn't felt since Rhys had left to go to Adriata. She started to get out of bed when Rhys' arms tightened around her chest. She silently smiled to herself and rolled over to face him. Rhys gave her a sleepy smile and kissed her softly on the lips. "Rhys?" She asked quietly. "Hmm?" He hummed. "I need to get out of bed." She kissed him on his lips. "No you don't." He mumbled on her lips.

"Rhys I need to go check in on Bash; Feed him; Change him." She said trying to wiggle out of his arms. "Like I said, you don't. He's fine. I'll send one of the twins." He said, a mischievous grin spreading across his face. "Oh no no no. I know that face. Rhys!-" Feyre was abruptly cut off when Rhys wrapped his arms around her, flipping her under him. Rhys was still chuckling when Feyre looked up at him. I miss this, She whispered down the bond, her face suddenly all seriousness. I know my darling Feyre, I missed you so much. It drove me crazy, Rhys said.

Feyre laid her hand against his cheek. He leaned into it, closing his eyes. Suddenly, he opened his eyes and a certain hunger filled his eyes. "Do you know know tonight is?" He inquired. A cloud of confusion covered her face before it clicked. "Starfall?" She asked, hesitantly. "Yes, my love, it's Starfall." He said, confirming her suspicions. The sun was shining through the window, hittting Feyre's eyes at just the right angle. Their king size bed was huge and covered in all black, per Rhys' request.

"So I guess this means I need to get ready AND find a sitter for Sebastian." She sighed and looked into Rhys' eyes. "Mor told me the other day she was perfectly fine with watching over him once it gets late. As for getting ready," Rhys gave her a devilish grin, "you can do that later." Feyre wrapped her legs around his waist and flipped him over, locking her lips around his in the process.

Several hours later, when they finally left bed to get ready, Feyre first went to go check on Bash and found Mor in his nursury. "Are you still fine to watch him tonight?" Feyre asked, smiling at how happy her baby boy was. "Oh yeah! Delighted!" Mor exclaimed. Feyre just nodded her head, walked over to kiss Bash on the head and left to go back to her room.

On the way back, she decided to take the long way back to their room and walked down a darkened corridor. She glanced at the huge portraits that lined the wall. She was looking at the picture of her father and mother-in-law when she heard a rustling and took in the fact that the end of the hall was a light brighter than majority. Feyre slowly inched closer and when came closer, she realized that the curtains had been drawn back and the window was open. No one has been here lately; They've just been preparing for Starfall. Then an idea came to mind. Maybe Rhys was just messing with her. Yeah. It was just Rhys. That's how he'd came home, through the window in the parlor. Goosebumps lined her skin and she quickly ran back to her room the way she'd come.

Hours, a shower and a snack later, Feyre was standing infront of her vanity mirror, putting in the diamond earrings Rhys had gotten out of the safe in the House of Wind. She wore a fitting black dress, that sparkled when it hit the light just right, and silver heels. Distracted by looking down to see if her dress had any wrinkles, she didn't realized Rhys was there until he put his arms around her waist and rested his head inbetween her shoulder and neck. He was wearing a black suit, a perfect math for her own.

"Are you sure you wanna go? I'd much rather strip you right now and call it a night." Rhys whispered with a shrugg. Feyre blushed and turned and kissed him deeply. He slipped his tongue in and she let out a low moan. After a few minutes, Feyre pulled away. She smiled, covering her lips with her fingers in a soft chuckle. "If we leave now, I'll oblige you tonight." She proposed instead. He looked at her with hunger in his eyes and sent images of everything he'd planned to do to her. Before Feyre could respond, Rhys winnowed them both to the roof top of his house where about 50 people were already milling about.

Feyre felt a familiar heavy land on her head. She glanced at the pond and saw the diamond crown that now lay upon her head in the reflection. She looked up at Rhys, saw the crown atop his. It was only fitting, He said with certainty. I love you, She said. Rhys took Feyre's hand and walked over to their table, where Mor was waiting with Bash. Gosh, Feyre thought, he's the spitting image of his father.

Feyre took Bash from Mor and held him against her hip. Rhys encircled her and their child from behind. "Look Bash." Feyre whispered, pointing up at the stars as they began to fall. Bash's face lit up and he clapped his hands. Feyre smiled, turned around and kissed her beautiful mate.

An hour later, Mor took a sleeping Bash from Ferye's hands and walked downstairs to put him to sleep. Mor returned only moments later to tell Rhys and Feyre that he was passed out. Feyre nodded, hugged and thanked Mor for taking him. Mor brushed her off and told her it was no big deal.

Feyre walked back to Rhys' side at the edge of the balcony and hugged him for a long while. Moments later, Feyre got the odd feeling that someone was watching them. Goosebumps crawled up her arms and back and she pulled away. Rhys looked at her. "What's wrong?" He asked, taking her hand in his own. "Something's not right." Feyre looked around, taking in their surroundings. She saw her sisters, sitting and talking to Cassian And Azriel. They all looked up and smiled at her. Something's not right, she kept whispering over and over in her head.

Mor saw the look on Feyre's face and started walking away from the food table to asked her what was wrong when she stopped short. Everything happened so fast, it was a huge blur. Feyre took a step foward when an ash arrow ripped through the sky and plunged into Mor's stomach. Two more went flying and they struck her upper chest and heart. Blood poured out of her mouth as her eyes went wide. Mor looked at Feyre and was about to whisper something when she stumbled backwards. She was dead before she hit the ground.
