The Man Who Came In The Night

Feyre woke up in the later afternoon, after waking up several times in the middle of the night. She rolled over, kissed Rhys' forehead and unfurled herself from his arms. She got out of their bed and walked over to the french doors that led to their balcony. The view was breathtaking; you could spot the rainbow and the ocean from just one quick glance. Feyre wrapped a robe around her tiny body and walked onto the balcony. She breathed in the fresh air and let out a deep sigh.

Unbeknownst to her, Rhys has woken up and walked over to where she was standing. "Good morning love." He whispered in her, placing his head in the crook of her neck and wrapping his arms around her.

Feyre shuddered and turned around in his arms to where she was face to face with her lover. She took in his messy hair and silently laughed to herself. "Good morning handsome" She said.

"How are you doing?" Rhys asked, referring to the past few days.

"I've been better, I guess." Feyre responded, her voice breaking a little. She turned around so Rhys wouldn't see her crying. But he did and he grabbed both side of her face so that her eyes would have no where to go but to look at his.

"It's okay if you want to cry. It's okay to be upset about it. She was your best friend and I understand. We may have been blood related but y'all were definitely closer. Take this time to grieve and then we'll figure out why this happened. Together." Rhys said, kissing her lips before she could protest. Rhys wiped her tears away and she just said, " Let's go take a shower."

After they had finished their 45 minute long shower, getting distracted more than once, Feyre and Rhys walked down to the kitchen to see what was for lunch.

Elain was sitting on a stool when she said, "You know it's three o'clock right?" Feyre looked at her w a sly smile on her face.

"I'm quite aware. But that's okay. Do you think you could make ud something right quick? We got to be going soon." Feyre questioned her sister. Elain sighed. "I guesssss." She said with a playful look on her face.

Rhys looked at his mate and said, What are you thinking? Feyre looked at him and said, The steppes.
"Don't worry!" Elain called, "I'll watch Bash!"
Feyre and Rhys vanished into thin air.
---
Thirty minutes later, Rhys and Feyre we're walking through the woods, a bow in her hand and a knife in his. They hadn't been back since before Feyre got pregnant so they decided to liven up her hunting skills. Today was solely focused on her physical abilities, not her powers.

Rhys looked at her. "Stars, you look sexy." He oogled at her. Feyre just rolled her eyes, and smirked, walking ahead. Rhys grabbed her hand before she could get too far and he pulled her close.

Feyre's eyebrows went up as she whispered, "Baby I know you want me right now, but I really need to practice." His eyes held a mischievous glint in them. "Your wish is my command." And with that, he let her go but not before pulling her into a deep kiss.

Feyre pulled away but not before hearing multiple twigs snap. She spun around to look at Rhys and she knew he was thinking the same thing. Target practice.

Feyre slowly walked over to the trees and spotted a deer. She motioned for Rhys to follow her and he silently obeyed. She nocked an arrowed and pulled the sting back until the end was touching her face. She found her target and let the arrow fly.
----
Darkness had just fallen when Feyre looked back at Rhys. "We should get back." She said, looking tired.

"Of course." Rhys said, finishing skinning the deer he'd killed.

Feyre stuck out her hand and Rhys grabbed it moments later. In a few seconds, they were standing in there home. It was eerily quiet. Goosebumps made their way up her arms but Feyre brushed it off. They walked hand in hand towards the kitchen.

On the way, they just so happened to walk through the parlor when Feyre noticed something off. Feyre stopped laughing st what Rhys was saying and her expression hardened. "What is it?" Rhys asked, curious.

Feyre walked over to the wall of windows and shut the the window that was letting in the cool, night air. "Rhys, honey, if you insist on coming in through precarious openings, please remember to shut them." She said, almost a lot annoyed.

Rhys looked at her, obviously confused. "I'm not quite sure I'm aware of what you're talking about." He said, voicing his thoughts.

Feyre was just as confused. "So, you mean to tell me the day you came home from Adriata, you didn't come through the balcony doors?" She asked.

"Nope." He said, matter-of-factly

"And... you didn't happen to fly out the window in the abandoned hall on the other side of the house...?" She said, her voice going softer.

"Nope that wasn't me." He said, shaking his head.

Feyre looked around and immediately her goosebumps came back. "Rhys?" She asked, concern lacing her words.

"What is it love?" He asked, taking her face in his hands.

"Where... Where is Bash?" She whispered.

Rhys felt Feyre go still as she pulled away from his hands. Feyre rushed across the parlor, up the stairs and into Bash's room. There was a crumpled form on the ground and Feyre soon realized it was Elain. She screamed.

Rhys rushed into the room and saw his mate attending to his sister-in-law. Panic, anger and worry coursed through his body as he saw a figure dressed in all black pick his son up and walk to the open window. Feyre looked up and screamed again. Before Rhys it Feyre could move, the figure vanished into thin air.
