Thank God You're Okay

Tommy walked a few paces in front of his older brother. He was just trying to get back as soon as possible to try and start work. It wasn't the best job, but he sure wasn't going to give it up now. Soon they were back at Phil's bookstore and Wilbur gave him a quick hug.

"Be safe..." he whispered his voice shaking slightly as if he were thinking about what could happen if Tommy were hurt. The blonde nodded pulling away and going to his job. Wilbur now entered the bookstore and Phil gave him a warm smile.

"You ready to work?" the man asked Wilbur who just simply nodded his mind being distracted. As he started sorting books into their shelves in alphabetical order his mind wandered the worst possible scenarios. What if Techno was hurt in the storm? What if Tommy was going to get beat up again? What if Phil was just using them like everyone else? He sniffled last nights storm catching up to him.

Phil finished serving a customer before going back to check on Wilbur. The brunette had finished his first shelf of books and now proceeded to start the next shelf.

"Your good at this," Phil chuckled surprising the 15-year-old.

"Uh yeah- sorry," Wilbur looked away his thoughts still coating his brain with a sick feeling.

"No, no," Phil rubbed the back of his neck. "It's a good thing, sorry." Phil now made his way back to the front of the shop to watch for customers. The day seemed to fly by quick whilst the three of them were working but it didn't fly by any faster for Techno.

He got caught in the storm and had thankfully found a big tree to shelter under. But his heart was racing. Not for himself but his brothers. The shed would 100% not hold through a storm like this and he knew that it might be a struggle for them both to get out in time. Let alone find somewhere else and grab everything.

After the storm had cleared up and the sun had risen enough, he nearly raced for the town again but having no sleep made him weary and he was exhausted when the marketplace came back into view. He hadn't been too much further from the town, but it was definitely a walk.

Techno walked civilly the rest of the way back into the woods. His thoughts were correct. The shed he called home had caved in and he gasped before approaching the flattened structure. He swallowed a sob trying to convince himself they made it out. Thankfully he noticed the white piece of paper laying in front of the destruction within a few seconds. The note read:

'Hey Techno, Tommy and I are alright we are at the bookstore if you can please come there as soon as you can, I got most of the important items, and Tommy says you're the second greatest person.'

Techno shook his head knowing it wasn't a trick due to the last part. Grabbing the note he sniffled before heading back towards town. Techno slipped and accidently rolled his ankle in a puddle on the way there. Limping the rest of the short distance he entered the bookstore. It looked like they were just closing up. He contemplated leaving before the adult blonde came to the counter.

"How may I-" he cut himself off. "Wilbur!" he yelled, and Techno's anxiety grew. Was his brother ok? Where's Tommy? The familiar chocolate brown hair made his countless questions quiet down slightly. Wilbur looked promptly exhausted, but he always did in Techno's opinion. The brunette's eyes perked up immediately after seeing the eldest.

"Techno!" he made his way over to Techno and hugged him tightly. "Oh thank god you're okay!" Techno sighed wrapping his arms around Wilbur slowly. The two seemed to relax in the embrace before Phil interrupted.

"Would you like me to find Tommy and take him home?" the adult asked feeling his heart warm his chest at the sight of the boys. Wilbur nodded lazily and Phil started closing up the shop. "I'll see you both at home in a bit okay." And he was gone. Wilbur started shaking in Techno's arms and it took him a second to realise he was sobbing.

"Hey," he muttered concern enticing his monotone voice. "Everything's alright." Wilbur nodded again and they started to finish closing up the shop making their way to Phil's home.

"Tommy!" Phil called out getting slightly more worried as the sun started setting leaving a hazy burnt orange soaking into the concreate and stone of the town. He couldn't find the 10-year-old and was getting more and more panicked as if Tommy were his own son.

"Phil!" he turned around seeing the blonde boy running up to him a small bunch of money in his hands. Phil felt the need to sweep the boy up into his arms, but he knew he shouldn't for Tommy was a 'big man' according to himself.

"Where were you just now?" Phil asked as he lead the way back to his apartment.

"I was hanging out with Tubbo," Tommy yawned. Having a big day does that to you. But Tommy's excitement was bound to perk back up after he saw his oldest brother home early. Reaching the apartment Phil noticed the lights on knowing the two boys were already inside. After coming inside his theory was correct. Tommy nearly screamed at the sight of the eldest and instead tackled him a hug. Wilbur chuckled to the left of them and Techno gave him a glance of terror as the boy continued to cling to him.

"Didn't realise how clingy you are Gremlin," Techno muttered half to himself.

"Oh shut up!" Tommy exclaimed. "The better question is why you're back so early?"

"Was worried for my clingy little brothers and decided to come home," Techno shrugged.

"Big Techno was worried for us?" Tommy smirked before getting a light hit to the back of his head by the elder.

"The both of you show some respect-" Wilbur was cut off by Phil putting a hand on his shoulder. "I'm so sorry for the two of them," Wilbur sighed still looking at the two bickering. From a glance you could think Wilbur was the oldest due to his amounts of responsibility. Phil shook his head.

"Don't be," he whispered. "It's the most lively this house has been for a while." Wilbur nodded absentmindedly. As Phil started cooking dinner Tommy was receiving the other end of his adrenaline spike and had tucked himself into the crevice between Techno and the couch they sat on. The pinkette had many questions for Phil but figured he would ask over dinner.

Wilbur had barely touched anything in the house thinking it to be disrespectful of him, so he sat on a simple chair. Phil had finished cooking now and the smells filled the apartment. He had made soup. To be exact, potato soup. And as the four ate Techno decided he best start questioning things.

"So Phil?" Techno swallowed a mouthful of soup. "Explain yourself and stuff about you I guess." Wilbur shot him a glance telling the eldest 'That was so uncalled for'.

"Okay?" Phil looked confused before taking a moment to ponder. "Well I-"

"I'm tired," Tommy muttered making Phil giggle at the interruption.

"Maybe we can save talk for another day boys," Phil smiled. Techno nodded and followed Tommy to the guest room. Wilbur proceeded to clean the table. Next, he went to clean the dishes which Phil intercepted. "I've got it mate," he sighed. Wilbur doubted but proceeded to enter the guest bedroom.

"Thank you, Phil," He whispered but Phil heard. He smiled to himself finishing up the dishes. He now walked outside taking a cigarette and lighting it. He inhaled through the unlit end and exhaled a small cloud of smoke. He proceeded to do this for the next hour before coming inside.

Turning off most of the lights he walked past the guest room. Tommy was sprawled out on the bed and snoring softly. He smiled. Entering the room quietly he looked for the two older boys. Wilbur was curled up into the edge of the bed a small frown showed Phil he were upset he quietly sat next to the sleeping boy, but someone moved causing Phil to get up quickly.

Techno was awake. He eyed Phil with a dangerous glare. Phil put up his hands saying he meant no harm. Techno sat upright before pulling Wilbur into himself. The sleeping boy stirred blinking tiredly but resumed his sleep a few moments later. His frown unmoving from his face. Phil wanted to comfort the boy and walked a few steps closer. Techno made him stop glaring at him once again.

The eldest proceeded to lazily touch Wilbur's messy brown hair. Phil watched in silence his heart bursting with sudden amounts of emotion when Wilbur readjusted himself in a more comfortable position, clinging to Techno and a small smile tugged at the edges of his mouth. Phil found it hard to not scream with absolute adoration.

Techno glanced at him now seeing Phil's emotions very clearly. He didn't glare daggers into him now. Just a simple 'you can go now' look and Phil quickly made his way out of the room. The man closed the door slightly before leaving to his own room. He left his door open just in case either of the 3 needed him. Lazily getting into bed Phil nearly fell asleep instantly. But the image remained in his mind.

These boys had been through a lot, and Phil would definitely do anything for them.
