Your name here.
There is a soft knock on my door.
I look up from my book that I have been sucked into for weeks and say "who is it?"
A voice answers "may I come in?"
I some how recognize the voice from behind the door but have no idea who it belongs to.
"Sure." I say as the knob on the door slowly turns and I see a figure enter the room.
At first I don't recognize the face before me but as I study it I see a tall, dark haired, young man.
I blink quickly and my mind races. "Is it really you?" I some how find the voice to mutter.
"Well I guess." Charlie replies.
Charlie has always had an amazing sense of humor.
"Why are you here?" I ask while patting the cushion on the couch next to me signaling for him to take a seat.
He makes his way across the room and sits next to me. He looks me in the eyes in disbelief. "Wow, you look just like you did 4 years ago."
"I wish I could have kept in touch.." Charlie started to say until I interrupted him with "no, it was my fault." "I didn't tell you that we were moving across the country. I didn't want to have to say goodbye, it was too hard."
My eyes shift from his to the white vase in the corner on the beautiful wood table that my father re-furnished the year before.
Charlie breaks the silence. " it's all in the past Allie. It doesn't matter now."
"Why are you here?" I ask softly.
"Well, I came to stay for a couple of weeks before-- before I get deployed." Charlie muttered.
Tears fall down my cheeks and I swiftly cover my face with my hands.
I get up from the couch and move to my bed where I loose the fight with my emotions and I loudly cry out "why! You might die Charlie!" "Did you not think about that!"
" Allie I have thought about it." "I have thought long and hard and I feel as if that is what I am meant to do." She Charlie looks at me with soft eyes and moves to my side. He puts his hand on my shoulder and comforts me while I cry.
I think to myself " I found him, and now I am going to loose him."
