Chapter 2

The Calm Before The Storm?

Aphmau's POV

My alarm went off at 4:30 in the morning. I moaned. Normally I prefer to sleep in, but today was special. It was the 15 year anniversary of the day I came to Phoenix drop. I slid into my slippers and pulled my robe over my shoulders before slipping out of the house. I ran though the village under the cover of darkness, certain that I could not afford to be spotted for then I would be subjected to endless questioning. I slipped through the gates into the forest to a very special part of the woods.

After a few minutes of hopeless wandering, I stumbled upon the place I was looking for. The place I first woke up and began my new life. Back in town, there would be huge celebrations for the anniversary of my arrival, but the time for celebration was latter. Right now it was time to mourn something. Mourn the loss of the life I used to have, and wait. On this day, at this time, a set of photos always arrives. I have no idea how, I just know they do. The photos are of my old friend's accomplishments this year, with hand written notes on the back.

It had been about seven minutes before the flash of light appeared, and a small tornado of a purple wind flashed out of my stone. I had woken up wearing it. It used to be a purple color, but now it was just a long-faded grey. It also no longer functions. The tornado settled on the ground, before dissolving into photos. I grabbed the top one, starving for news of my old friends. It wasn't that I wasn't happy here, or that I didn't have friends here. Quite the opposite in that case. It was just that we had been friends for so long, Skyarmy and I, and we had been practically family. Now, this was the only time I could see them.

The photo I grabbed was one of my old friends, Sky and Alessa, who I remembered had gotten married about 3 years ago, holding a little baby. The caption on the back read "Dear Jess, meet baby Mason! He is about four months old, and already behaves like his father. By that I mean his neediness. We named you his godmother, even though you may never meet him. Wow, that thought crushes me.
I really miss you,
Alessa
I smiled. I missed her to, although Mason was ADORABLE! And naming me his godmother? They shouldn't have!

Suddenly, something caught my attention. My pendant was glowing again. It released another tornado, and this time it became a small note written on a piece of lined paper. Suddenly, something caught my eye. THE SUN WAS COMING UP! Crap! I shoved the note and the photos into my pocket and dashed home. I had to be there before Zoe got up, or I was screwed. I dashed through the village as quietly as I could, and slipped back up the stairs. I pulled a small brown box out from under my bead and gently placed the photos inside. Then, I shoved the box, and climbed into bead just as I heard my guard Garroth climbing the stairs. It was going to be a long day, wasn't it?

A/N
Yes Aph, it will be.

Sooo... the note! Who wrote it? Can you guess? Betcha can't! Also, this will be short, but I'm just say, ¡!Travlyn Warning!¡. It's my OTP. Soon it will come.

Also, about the Irene timeskip... I DO HAVE AN EXCUSE!

Time flows differently in different dimensions, so the Skyarmy keep track of time in what they call the "gst time". It has been 15 years gst. Chill guys.

Thanks!
