Prologue

Characters are not born, but we aren't exactly made either. It's as if we simply just come into existence one day, knowing what we are.

As we begin to take shape, certain facts about ourselves emerge: This is my name. This is how old I am. This is what I look like. But these things don't feel new; they feel like they've always been, as if we've always known them, even before we had the words for them.

When another character enters the scene, depending on our relationship, it's as though they were always meant to be here. We don't have memories—not until the writer gives them to us.

Everything is decided by our writer. Nothing about us can be changed unless they make it happen.

All we know about them is that they exist, and they created us and the world we live in. For us, they're basically God. Minus the worshiping and prophets and such.

If the plot calls for a character to die, they die. But they'll still exist somewhere in the mind, along with discarded characters. They might not be seen or heard of, but they are around here somewhere.

There are only two ways for a character to completely cease to exist; the first is to be forgotten by the writer.

The second is if something happens to the writer... something no amount of rewriting can undo.

Wow so ominous

Hope you're as excited to read this as I was to start it
