Barbara's summer activities kept her too busy to visit Marlene or Lily that summer, much to her disappointment. She was too focused on school work and training for her dream job to even meet up with her boyfriend. However, when she caught him in a closet with Sasha, she was happy to end their relationship right then and there. When she told her brother, who was surrounded by his other friends, they all seemed quite please with never having to see that Ravenclaw ever again. Sirius was especially elated.

She took her free time during the summer to talk to James about all of the commotion she was missing. James had told her that Peter, Sirius, and himself were becoming animangi for Remus during his full moons. The idea scared Barbara at first, but she knew her brother would continue the process. She admired him and his friends for wanting to be there for "Moony" during with awful nights.

Instead of condemning them for doing something illegal, Barbara decided that she was going to help them. She confessed to James that she was already an animagus because Royals needed a form to protect themselves from strangers. James was extremely hurt to only just find out about it, but was impressed when Barbara transformed into Rome.

Rome's coat was impeccably glossy, the light from James's bedroom window making the white fur shine. He noticed how his sister's eyes was how Royals were able to tell each other apart; because her eyes were a startling icy-blue. They almost glowed in the sunlight.

As soon as he discovered Rome, he began to call her that for the rest of the summer. James was giddy when he realized that Barbara would be able to continue to help Remus in her wolf form rather than her Vampire form.

Barbara was sad that James wasn't allowed to be there while she practiced her Vampire magic; but Barbara knew that it was for the best. Royals were closely guarded and it was nearly impossible for any of them to be seen as him/herself in public. Wizards and witches were afraid of them because of how powerful they were, which was why many of the Vampires who escaped the Realm were joining forced with Voldemort.

She was able to keep her motivation for getting stronger the more she thought about how she could help defeat the rising Dark Lord.

The more she trained with aged Aurors the stronger she was becoming; and the more she flew with Angel the more focused and devoted she became. It was an incredible experience to learn from Dumbledore, and she was forever grateful to the man for helping her reach her goals. Dumbledore had been there for her when Valerie was not. He filled the void Valerie left and took on the roll as a guardian and teacher.

Similarly, Angel was more than just a cousin to Barbara, she was an older sister. They were together so often that Angel had moved in with the Potters over the summer. Barbara, James, and Angel became siblings and Angel began to look up to Mr. and Mrs. Potter, who treated her as their daughter. Barbara began to think of Valerie less and focused more on the present and future she had.

Both Potter twins also grew very close with each other while bonding in Barbara's free time. She had also become an honorary Marauder and helped the boys over the summer with their task at becoming animagi. Remus and Barbara had a long, private talk about what she was going to do with telling the others about Rome.

She informed Remus that James already knew and it was Peter and Sirius who were going to find out the beginning pf next year. She and Lily had already had a very long discussion about Barbara being a Vampire when she spent a few days at their house towards the end of the summer. The only two people who needed to know about Rome were Sirius and Peter.

Barbara hoped her Fourth Year would be less action-packed than her summer. But with the way things were going, it sure didn't seem like it.
