13. Hogwars Express

Barbara and James woke up early on September first. They were bother discussing over breakfast if Professor Dumbledore would remember them. Fleamont and Euphemia assured them that he never forgets a face, which calmed the duo's nerves.

The twins were dressed in their muggle clothes, James in jeans and a Beatles t-shirt while Barbara was in a long-sleeved, red t-shirt and jeans. She never really wore shorts or short sleeves after the "Childhood Incident." Unfortunately, they never found the man that hurt her; and they probably never would.

After a healthy breakfast and the House Elves tearfully saying goodbye to the Potter twins, the four Potters went to King's Cross Station where the magical journey begins.

Barbara was not bringing Blazer, as he was too much of a risk while walking through the crowds of Muggles. He also wouldn't have enjoyed spending time with a bunch of owls.

"Mum, how do we get to the train? I don't see any 'quarter' stations," Barbara asked, slightly confused. James and their parents just smirked. They never told her how to get on the train because they wanted to surprise her.

"Barbara, do you trust us?" Mr. Potter asked, Barbara nodded immediately.

The trio smiled at Barbara, and James started running into a barrier. "JAMES!" Barbara yelled, causing a few people stare at her. The minute Barbara looked back at the barrier, her eyes were as wide as a quaffle.

"Wha-but-how?" Barbara stuttered, guffawed with how her brother disappeared.

"We need to run into the barrier, Pumpkin," Mr. Potter said using his favorite nickname for his daughter.

"Ok?"

"Together," Euphemia said to Barbara, after Mr. Potter went through the barrier. Together, mother and daughter, they went through the barrier.

As soon as Barbara entered, she made sure her guard was up. There were hundreds of wizards and witches. Barbara caught up with James after staring at everyone and everything for a few good minutes. She was absolutely baffled with how magic could do nearly anything.

"James....woah...."

"I'll miss you, Barbara," Mrs. Potter said, tears threatening to fall as she squished her daughter, "I love you."

"I love you too, Mum." Barbara said. She didn't cry, though, not even a tear brimming her eyes. Barbara knew she would see her family during the break and wasn't worried about them at all. They may be older but they were still kicking.

After being released from her mother's death grip, she went to her dad.

"I'll miss you, Daddy, I promise I'll write to you and Mum at least two times a week," Barbara said. Her dad just nodded, and hugged her. They stayed like that until the train was blowing the final whistle.

Barbara climbed on the train with her brother, their bags already loaded onto the train because of some nice Prefects.

After James dragged Hercules to the last section of the train, they finally found a compartment that was empty. They settled down, and Barbara pulled the cloth off of Hercules's cage. He was sleeping.

Barbara dozed off after about ten minutes on the train. Meanwhile, James was talking to a kid that just entered their compartment, named Sirius Black. Another kid with a bunch of scars then came in, and the three became the closest friends. After about two hours of talking, and making an enemy named 'Severus Snape', James decided it was time to wake Barbara.

"Hey, Barbara, wake up. You have to change into your robes," James said, poking her lightly on the shoulder. Barbara lazily lifted herself from her comfortable position and noticed the two strangers. She tensed at the sight of the two of them, not knowing how to react.

"Uh, hi?" Sirius said, confused at the girl's reaction. Remus smiled bashfully at her and waved politely. James told them about his sister and how she doesn't trust people but, as he promised, kept the "Childhood Incident" a secret.

"Hello," Barbara finally said after analyzing them, "I'm Barbara Potter, this prat's sister."

"I'm Sirius Black, a new friend of said prat," he smirked at Barbara's comment; and he held out his hand. Barbara shook his hand.

"I'm Remus Lupin," the other boy said, holding out his hand. Barbara, with her fang necklace secure around her neck, knew that he was a werewolf.

"Nice to meet you two," Barbara said politely. She felt that they were sincere and could be good people to be around during her time at Hogwarts.

After talking with them for a while, Barbara decided to go and change. She led the compartment and came back five minutes later to find a chocolate frog shoved in her face. She looked gratefully at James, and took it gladly. Chocolate frogs were her favorite.

The train finally came to a stop, and Barbara was greeted by a giant man who was yelling, "Firs' Years! This way!" She walked over to him, losing her brother in the crowd. She looked at the man warily, intimidated by how much larger he was than she.

"Hello Ms. Potter! Heard yer were comin' today! How ar' yeh? Oh, name's Hagrid by the way," The man named 'Hagrid' held his hand out to Barbara. She gingerly shook his finger, still weary of him.

"Right now, FIRS' YEARS C'MON THIS WAY!" Hagrid shouted, making Barbara jump at how loud his voice was. Hagrid gave her an encouraging smile, and the first years headed towards the boats.

Barbara climbed in a boat and sat next to a girl with fiery red hair, a boy that looks like he could use a shower, and another boy that was on the heavy side.

"Hi, I'm Lily Evans, this is my friend Severus Snape," the girl with fiery red hair said; and she held out her hand. Barbara trusted girls more than guys and shook her hand without hesitation.

"Hi, I'm Barbara Potter. How are you two?" Barbara asked politely. Lily just had a stunned face, and Severus looked a little murderous.

"I'm sorry! Did I say something?" Barbara said a little panicky. She didn't want to blow her chances of making friends before she even stepped on the grounds.

"No! It's just... were you the girl sleeping in the compartment where a James Potter was sitting?" Lily asked, a little bit of venom when she said 'Potter'. Severus just looked like he wanted to kill even more.

"Yeah. He's a good person but he can be a pain. Sorry if he treated you mean. What House do you want to be in?" Barbara asked, eager to change the topic.

"I don't know, they all sound pretty good. I'm a muggleborn. You are...?"

"A pure blood; but my family's considered blood traitors," Barbara said proudly. It was clear to see the Severus was trying not to roll his eyes.

"What house do you want to be in, Severus?"

"Slytherin." Severus said smugly. Barbara smiled.

"I can kind of understand why he made fun of you, then, but that doesn't mean it's a good thing. The Potter family is made up of Ravenclaws, a few Slytherins, Hufflepuffs, but mainly Gryffindors. Our parents are Gryffindors, so not wanting to be in Slytherin is natural for him. Still, it doesn't mean he should've made fun of the Slytherin House." Barbara said to Severus, understanding what her brother most likely did to annoy her pair of "friends."

"Wow, you aren't like your brother at all." He said, and looked like he was smiling. Barbara couldn't tell, though, because his hair was in his face.

"It sounds like I'll be in Ravenclaw from what I've heard about the Houses," Lily piped in.

The heavy boy just stayed quiet. Barbara turned to him, wanting to include him in the conversation to make it less awkward, "What's your name and what House do you want to be in?"

He looked grateful that the pretty girl was talking to him.

"I'm Peter Pettigrew and I don't know what House I want to be in."

Barbara turned back to talk to Lily and Severus, because she could tell something was off with Peter, and didn't want to talk to him with the suspicious aura he was giving off.

"This is going to be a great year." James said to Barbara as they met up again after the boat ride, Sirius and Remus behind him. Barbara nodded, noting to warn Lily and Severus that James was a prankster, because she saw, in James' hazel eyes, a mischievous glint she knew very well.

This is going to be an interesting year, alright.
