Intertwined Hands
Hi guys, I hope you liked the first part of the story. Here is the second one. Please keep supporting the book and I hope you like this part as well.
After what seemed like 20 years, the bus dropped Jimin near the Midlevel Cafe bus stop. Taking a deep breath, Jimin set off towards the cafe, reaching 15 minutes prior to the time they had decided to meet. Glad to be early, Jimin found a seat near the window and occupied it. He checked his hair out in his front camera and asked for a menu.
Might as well order something till Yoongi gets here, he thought.
"Excuse me," Jimin called out. (AN - Geddit guys, geddit xD)
A handsome waiter with jet black hair, in a crisp white shirt and black pants with an apron stating the name of the cafe, stepped in front of him. "Yes sir, what can I get for you?" he asked.
"Hi, Taehyung is it?" Jimin asked, after reading his name tag.
"Yes sir," said Taehyung, a professional smile on his face.
"What coffee would you recommend for someone who has a sweet tooth?" Jimin asked, smiling back at Taehyung.
"We make a very good caramel macchiato sir, it's one of our sweeter coffees," Taehyung replied.
"Great then. Please get me a caramel macchiato. My friend will be here shortly, so I will order the rest then," Jimin said.
"Okay sir," said Taehyung, bowing slightly before leaving to bring Jimin his coffee.
Jimin looked out the window, seeing various people pass by on the street. One of his favorite hobbies was watching people, not in a creepy way. He liked to attempt to figure out what one person was saying to another and what kind of relationship they had. His eyes caught a father and son pair, near a video game store. The son was throwing a tantrum, possibly to buy a game CD. He was so focused on the interaction that he didn't notice a person slide into the chair opposite him. The person cleared their throat, which made Jimin look up.
"Yoongi....uhm I mean Yoongi Hyung. Hi, nice to meet you finally," Jimin stuttered, blushing profusely on seeing Yoongi in person. (Hyung is a term used to refer to someone older than you).
Yoongi stood tall before Jimin, his hair ink black as well. His lips were pulled up in a tiny smile, not giving much away. He pulled out the chair in front of him and settled down, before looking Jimin in the eye again, his smile slightly wider.
"Hi Jimin. Please don't be so formal. We are friends already," Yoongi said, a sweet smile spread across his face, which made a smile bloom on Jimin's face too. "Also Jimin, please don't call me Hyung. I'm not fond of these formalities."
"Of course, Yoongi," Jimin said, Yoongi's name sounding oddly sweet on his tongue.
"So did you order already or should we order now?" Yoongi asked.
"I ordered a coffee for myself actually, because I got here earlier. I hope you don't mind," Jimin uttered, finding it hard to maintain Yoongi's intense gaze.
"Of course not. Should we order the waffles now?" Yoongi asked.
"Oh yes of course. I had my eyes on the baked milk tea waffle," said Jimin.
Yoongi looked through the menu for a few minutes and said, "The banana waffle sounds good to me."
Right at that moment, Taehyung appeared with Jimin's coffee. "Here you go, sir. Oh...Yoongi Hyung, I didn't expect to see you here," Taehyung said, just a little bit stunned.
"Taehyung! I didn't know you worked here. What a surprise," Yoongi said with a grin. Gesturing towards Taehyung, Yoongi said, "Jimin, Taehyung is my junior at college. We are both doing music studies at Seoul University."
"Oh, that's great. Hi Taehyung, I'm Jimin," he replied, extending his hand towards Taehyung, which he gladly shook.
"Hi Jimin, please call me Tae. Yoongi Hyung here is a star at our university. All our professors are in awe of what amazing work he can do," he said, a twinkle in his eye as if he had just met his idol.
"Oh really! I would love to hear more about that," Jimin said, a smirk on his face as he saw Yoongi's face redden, embarrassed of all the attention.
Before Taehyung could fill Jimin in, about Yoongi's music composition brilliance, Yoongi hastily cut him off. "Okay Tae, we would like to order a banana waffle and a baked milk tea waffle."
Getting the hint, Tae replied, "yes, I'll be right back with your order." He smiled at the two before leaving to get their order.
"How's college going Jimin?" Yoongi asked.
"It's going well. Being a psychology major is exhausting but it's also very fun to study."
"I've always had an interest in psychology, honestly," Yoongi spoke.
"Really? I thought music was your true calling," Jimin replied, surprised that this was the first time he was hearing of this.
"It is, but sometimes it's really difficult to find the inspiration and motivation needed to compose music, and then the entire process becomes really hard and time-consuming," Yoongi uttered.
"Well if it would help, anytime you feel lost on inspiration or motivation, call me. Maybe I could help out," Jimin said, a blush creeping onto his face.
"I will actually take you up on that," Yoongi said with a sugar-sweet grin. "Also, you look really good Jimin."
"Ha, you're one to speak. You look really good too, black suits you," Jimin said, eyeing the black shirt Yoongi wore.
"Yeah, black is my favorite color. I always ensure there is black somewhere in every outfit I wear," Yoongi said.
"Oh really? Honestly, I really love soft colors, especially pastels. They seem to bring life to everything," Jimin said.
"Well, you look good in pastels so you should definitely wear them," Yoongi said, smiling as Jimin blushed once again.
They continued the conversation this way until Tae came back with their order. He placed the plates filled with delicious waffles in front of them, before stepping back.
"Thanks, Tae," Jimin said.
"Uhh Yoongi Hyung, I wanted to ask you something. It's kind of important or I wouldn't have interrupted your conversation," Tae said, pulling at the hair on the base of his neck, nervously.
"Just call me Yoongi. And yeah, what is it?" Yoongi questioned.
"So, I have an assignment due tomorrow for which I needed to compose a piece on the keyboard. I know you are a very talented player and I know it is very last minute, but could we please sit together today, so you can listen to my composition once. It's just that I saw you here and it was a golden opportunity. I would really love to hear your views on it," Tae said sheepishly, afraid to meet Yoongi's eyes but also hoping that he would say yes.
Jimin jumped up excitedly on hearing this, "oh Yoongi, I've always wanted to watch you play! I have an idea. How about you two come to my place and practice? Tae's assignment will be done and I'll get to see you play as well. My roommate has a keyboard and he too is very interested in music so he would be glad if you came by. Please consider it Yoongi, pleaseeee."
Yoongi saw Jimin's eyes light up and just could not refuse his proposition. "Well, if you really want that, then sure. I'm free today so this works. Tae, we'll go to Jimin's house together after you're done with your shift," Yoongi said kindly.
"Great, I will be done in 30 minutes. Thank you so much Yoongi and Jimin, really. You're going to save my grades," Tae said, chuckling slightly as he left.
Yoongi and Jimin smiled at each other and continued to talk till Tae's shift was over. Right after his shift, Tae came to their table, having changed out of his work clothes, "I'm done for the day. If you guys are done too then let's go."
"Sure, come on, we have to take the bus," Jimin said and led them out of the cafe. After boarding the bus, Yoongi and Jimin sat together in one of the rows and Tae sat behind them. Jimin was looking out the window with a wide smile plastered on his face, at the thought of Yoongi being in his house when he felt Yoongi's pinky finger touch his hand. Startled, Jimin looked at Yoongi who smiled at him before intertwining their hands. The second their fingers touched, Jimin felt like fireworks erupted within him. He could not keep the blush off his face as he tightened his fingers around Yoongi's.
Meanwhile, all Yoongi could think about was how perfect Jimin's hand felt in his. It spread warmth through his body and something just felt right to him. Looking at Jimin blush, his heart cooed and he wanted to reach his hand out and touch Jimin's adorable cheeks, but he held himself back and looked forward, a smile on his own face.
The bus soon arrived at Jimin's stop and Yoongi had to let go of his hand in order to get off at the stop. Jimin led them to his house and opened the door. The lights were switched off in the apartment and Jimin sighed, "my roommate is probably watching some horror film. He likes to keep the house in darkness when he watches those films. Why don't you two go to the living room and sit while I get us some snacks? The room is to your right."
"Sure, let's go Tae," Yoongi said and left for the living room.
Jimin arranged some chips and biscuits on a plate and filled four mugs with water. He brought it all to the living room and decided to ask his roommate to join them as well.
"Jungkook, come to the living room. We've got company," Jimin called out.
Like I promised, Tae and Kook are here. What do you think is going to happen when they meet for the first time? Stay tuned for the next episode:)
