2-Hallway Madness

Two wrongs can never make a right. That was a very popular saying. And it has never been more wrong.

For we were two wrongs in every possible way. And together, nothing has been more right.

                                                                             ⚜

"Fuck off you bitch!!" He punched me. I touched my cheek and looked at the blood in my hand. That was what destroyed me. I saw red.

And literally, I saw blood.

I was so mad that I didn't notice he was unconscious already as I banged his head on the locker creating a scene. I didn't even want to stop when I was held by people who I was sure all shared some part of the injury.

"Miss Christiana! To the principals office!" I heard a female voice say which I assumed to belong to a teacher. I didn't even have time to wonder how she knew my name.

"I don't know where that is." I murmured wiping the blood from my cheeks as I saw the son of a bitch whining like a baby as he was hit to consciousness by some people.

"That's because you just came today and you started a fight!" She said looking at me like I was a plague. "Follow me."

I released myself from whomever was still touching me and reluctantly followed her as I saw that idiot smirking at me. I ignored him knowing he was going to end up in the hospital after now. I don't talk to idiots twice. They are so dumb they will never understand.

"And you too Dubem." She said as she saw him smiling.

Dubem. So that was his name. Sounded like dumb to me.

"But Miss Oliver I didn't do anything wrong." He whined. "It was all this Christina or whatever she calls herself that hit me first."

"Tell that to the principal." She walked expecting us to follow her.

I smirked at him as I saw how annoyed he looked with his now swollen face. He already looked fat and swollen but now it was on a different level.

"And it's Chrisè to you Dummy." I growled as I followed her avoiding the stares I got from people. Then my eyes meet with one particular person's eyes and I could see the steam from her nostrils and the smoke from her eyes as she glared at me with hatred. I now knew how sure she was that the choice she made when she said we should not act as if we were related was the right one.

I remember how I smirked at her as I saw her stamp her feet and enter into her classroom.

Three minutes later we were seated in the principal's office as she made us narrate what happened.

I know most of you are wondering how I got there while most of you placed a $200 bet on me that I'll land here on my first day but truth is that I was innocent and only trying to defend myself from bastards like that dummy.

Now let me tell you what happened when I got to my classroom. As usual I introduced myself.

Standing in front of the classroom of uninterested students, at least most of them were. I saw some on snapchat or Instagram. It's not like I was annoyed they weren't listening, in fact I was relieved. The less people interested, the faster l got out of there.

"Hi class, I'm a transfer student from RandLe High School, Baltimore. My name is Christina Zinachi Onyeka but people call me Chrisè. It's pronounced Chrisa but it's spelt with an e. I'm fifteen years old. Thank you." I waited a few minutes and when nobody said anything I began walking to my seat. I was hoping that nobody will hear the drum rolls my heart was making that was too loud I was almost sure everyone could hear it.

"Aren't we allowed to ask questions?!" Someone shouted from the back when I was halfway near my seat. I almost disappeared at that moment wishing the teacher would ignore him.

"Sure you are free." He answered.

I cursed under my breath. So much for luck.

"Chris will you come back and stand in front of the classroom please?" He asked.

"It's Chrisè." I corrected him.

"Sorry Chrisè."

I grudgingly walked to the front of the classroom going through hell a second time.

"So why do you transfer schools?" The idiot asked.

Why do you care?

"I had a minor misunderstanding." I explained the broken nose and bloated face of two sophomores students as nice as possible.

"You killed someone?" He tried to joke as I heard some people laugh at his lame attempt.

I was getting irritated and my heart beat wasn't helping at all. "No." But I may now.

"Then you fucked someone." He said with conclusion in his voice gaining the whole class attention. I was dumbstruck. Can he say something like that? "Did you fuck someone Christina?"

I wanted to slap him there at that moment before the stupid teacher spoke up.

"That was uncalled for Dubem. Detention for three days!"

I heard some people boo him or me as I walked to my chair which was the longest walk I had made in forever. I hated this. I stuck to my rules so why did this happen? Throughout the rest of the day I minded my business. I didn't talk to anyone at all as I saw how trouble found its way to me. Being invisible will keep me out of trouble.

At least that's what I thought.

I was in my locker putting my books getting ready for lunch when I felt a hand slap my butt cheek. In an instant I turned around and elbowed whoever it was. It was that idiot from class and some other assholes.

"Someone has spirit." He chuckled as he subtly held his stomach.

"I'm glad you find that funny. I'm sure if I do more it would be just as hilarious." My anger getting a hold of me already.

I was running and he cornered me. Smirking at me like he won the lottery.

"I know you want to do more to me babe but you don't have to be in such a hurry." He brought his mouth closer to my ear making me feel like throwing up. "We have all the time in the world." I heard his friends laugh at his attempt of a joke.

Idiots.

I pushed him away. "Don't you touch me." I warned.

Hands on my face. Breath on my neck.

I pushed that thought away. I was sure it wasn't going to happen again.

He smirked at me. "Or what?"

I chuckled folding my arms on my chest. I knew I was losing it. At that moment that images where rushing back in my head. They were tearing me apart already.

"What's so funny?" He snarled annoyed of the fact that I was laughing at him.

"Someone wants to be a grown up so fast." I said with a conviction in my voice that got to him.

I'm in control. He can't get to me.

I tried my best at self control.

"What does that mean?" He growled.

"What did all that stupidity mean? Your friends made you a bet?" I glared at his friends with a not so friendly look as some of them retreated.

"Bro I'm out of here." I heard one say.

"What the fuck do you mean bitch?" He growled as he clenched his teeth.

"So I was right? They did make you a bet. You have been watching so much Netflix movies about how a bully gets a girl and it's so cool." I saw him clenched his hands. "But you forgot something-" I said walking to him, cornering him this time. "Most of them are hot and sexy not a bundle of disgusting fat." I heard the hall which was now turned into an auditorium burst into laughter with some aww's and cheers.

My mind kept on telling me to shut up but my head was way into the game. I couldn't let him hurt, let them hurt me. Not if I can hurt them first.

"Or wait!" I gasped dramatically, "You're so ugly that even your friends know you can't even get a girl by yourself but has to bully one to date you."

And next thing I heard was. "Fuck off you bitch!" With his fisted hand landing on my face and you know the rest of the story.

So believe me when I said it wasn't my fault.

"So Miss Christina you are free now." Was the next thing I heard from the man sat one the desk with a gray suit and a mahogany framed glasses I now knew was the principal.

I wasn't sure if I heard him correctly so I asked to be sure. "Please did you say I was free sir?"

"Yes I did."

"I don't understand." I said calmly. This was the time he was supposed to give me a hearty speech of how I'm a young lady and should try and control my temper and how he wishes to help me but has to suspend or expel me. But not how I should go home. Free.

"You weren't listening were you?" I didn't answer that giving him the answer in my silence.

"Miss Oliver-" So that was her name."-explained to me how you were just defending yourself and I pardoned you."

I nodded.

"Mr Chidubem Jumbo will write an apology letter to you until you accept it and read it in front of the whole school during lunch tomorrow."

"I will not!" He immediately protested. "I will not disgrace myself because of this bitch!" He said with spite.

"For challenging me three days extra to your two weeks in detention and for the swear word you are going to be joining the cleaning department for four days extra. Anything else you'll like to say?" He asked daring him to say more.

He was dumbstruck and sure had a lot to say but the little organ in his head which I was shocked existed advised against it.

"No sir." He murmured.

"Very well then. You can go." He got up and walked to the door before he looked at me.

"I'll get you." He snarled in a low voice before he left the door. "You are going to jail for this I swear." He murmured.

"Now you are going to call your parents!!" The principal shouted after him.

I got up not sure of what to do.

"Well not you Miss Christina. You'll have to wait a little. Miss Oliver you can go."

I was confused. At least now I know it is impossible to escape expulsion. School is officially not my thing.

"But you told me I can go sir." I explained.

"I said you are free. I didn't say you can go. Don't misquote me."

Aren't they the same thing?

"Yes sir." I bent my head look at my fingers as they rested on my lap. I was feeling very uneasy at that moment.

He typed on his computer and looked at me. "Today is your first day am I right?"

"Yes sir." My voice almost like a whisper.

"You were expelled from your first school because of you were fighting with a senior high male student because he accused you of stealing his books?" He asked like he was unsure of what he read. See even a total stranger didn't believe their lies.

"He was a sophomore student and he didn't accuse me of stealing his books. He stole my keys and keyed my aunt's car." I defended myself.

"And you were expelled from your next school because you broke the ribs and legs of two female students because they flirted with your boyfriend?" He continued looking at his computer which I assumed my file was what he was reading, ignoring what I said.

I was dumbfounded. Trust those motherfuckers to make me sound like a slut. I've never even had a boyfriend.

"It was their noses and they shared photoshopped nude pictures of me around the school sir."

"Seems like you always have an excuse for everything situation Christina." He said with his glasses on his nose as he turned off the computer.

"They are not excuse sir but the truth." I said. "And it's Chrisé." For the first time since I entered the office I looked at his face. He was younger than I expected either in his late thirties or early forties. His shoulder looked broad and the way he sat showed he was a man of great height. Then his eyes, they were warm and at the same time stern. His whole aura reflect authority.

"What's Chrisè?" He asked puzzled.

"My name. It's Chrisè not Christina."

He paused looking at me with amusement in his eyes."But you file says Christina." He closed the file and pushed it aside. "And you are in big trouble but all you care about is your name?" He clicked his tongue and shook his head.

I didn't say anything to prevent angering him more. I may hate everything but I really didn't want to be a school drop out if I had a choice.

"Looking at your records you're a very bright student-" and here comes the lecture. "-and it would be a pity if you throw it away. Normally we have a lot of international students as you have noticed but we don't accept students after more than two weeks of resumption. AIA is very prestigious school and because your father is an important member of the school board that was why we accepted you. I wish I could help you with your issues which you sure have but I can't." He picked an envelope from his table and gave it to me. "Give this to your parents. It's the only thing I can do."

So they had already printed my expulsion letter as soon as I registered seeing my school record. Smooth.

"And I really hope this would help you."

I nodded my head as I took the envelope from the table. "Thank you sir." I said getting up from the table ready to leave the office.

"And Chrisé?" He called out.

I turned to look at him. "Yes sir?"

"Next time when you punch someone, try not to hurt yourself." He said. I wasn't sure what his statement meant but it was not what I expected. It was at that moment I noticed the pain in my knuckles. It was torn and bloodied.

"Oh my God! Here she is!" It was my over dramatic mother. She rushed to my side, touching my body everywhere like she was searching for wounds. "Did you break anything?" Are you blind or just stupid?

"Can you walk well?" Did I fly here?

"Oh God I was so scared when I heard it. I thought you were hurt." Oh God you were so happy that you came here to confirm my death yourself . I almost said those words.

"Oh mother can you stop those act already?" I whispered as she held me.

"You would behave yourself here understand?" She murmured. I rolled my eyes as I walked to my locker and brought out my bag pack.

"Can we go now?!" I said as I started to move towards the checkpoint. Yes my school had a checkpoint at the gate.

"Thank you Miss Oliver. If not for you I don't know wh-" I walked out of their conversation not ready to hear anymore of her lies.

I walked into the car as I was greeted by Mr Suleman. "Good afternoon Miss Chrisè."

"Hi. Where's my sister?" I asked knowing she had gone with her driver.

"She followed her friends to a party."

"Good." I opened my phone and started playing Subway Surf. Few minutes later my mum entered the car and started calling everyone she knew, telling them how I fought with everyone in my class on my first day.

At that minute, I wished I wasn't going home. I wished I was going anywhere but home. Because I knew it wasn't the warm reception of family that waited for me there.

It was cold. Just like my heart.
