Chapter 4 ~ The Rainy Ambush
Once I arrived at Little Whinging, I managed to find the Dursley's house and flew to Harry's window. Harry wasn't there, so I assumed he was outside somewhere. I opened his window and hid my broom and trunk under his bed. I climbed down and started walking towards a nearby playground. It was hot outside, so I was glad I was wearing a tank top and some shorts. But of course, I had tennis shoes on. Just in case I had to run.
I spotted Harry on a swing, reading a newspaper. I went over to him and he looked up at me. He dropped the newspaper and got up to hug me. I missed his hugs. We didn't speak. We just stood there, happy that we were once again reunited.
"I missed you, Harry," I spoke up. "Thanks for getting that haircut."
"I missed you, too," he replied. "Why didn't you write to me?"
"The question is, why didn't you write to me?"
"Long story."
"Same here."
"You first."
I sighed and then I sat down on the swing beside him. I waited for him to sit down before I began. "I saw Cedric. He looked like a ghost, really. Then I've been hearing voices and having nightmares. I've tried blocking them out, but I just can't."
"I'm sorry. A lot has happened to you, and you deserve to be happy for once."
"I know," I sniffled.
"But I'll help you get through this. I promise."
I smiled weakly then dropped the subject. "So what's going on with you?"
He sighed then replied. "Well, same thing that's been happening to you. I would scream Cedric's name in the middle of the night. When I wake up, my pillow would scare me for some reason."
"I guess we're going through the same stuff."
"Yeah."
We sat there on the swings for a while. We were alone the entire time until five boys came up to us. "Hey, Big D," Harry said. "Beat up another ten year old?"
"This one deserved it," the biggest boy out of all of them said.
"Who is that?" I asked Harry.
"Dudley. Our cousin," he replied while rolling his eyes at Dudley. "Wow. Five against one. Very brave."
"Well, you're one to talk. Moaning in your sleep every night? At least I'm not afraid of my pillow." The five boys laughed at Harry. "'Don't kill Cedric!' Who's Cedric, your boyfriend?"
"Shut up," I spoke up.
"Oh, who is this, Potter?" Dudley asked him, a bit curious now.
"Just leave us alone," Harry snapped.
"Oh, look! Potter's getting defensive!" Everyone laughed at him again. "Too bad your mum couldn't see this! Where is she, anyway, Potter? Is she dead?"
Harry's blood was boiling as he ran up to them and pressed his wand up Dudley's neck. His friends laughed at him while Dudley was eyeing the wand.
"Harry!" I shouted.
Suddenly, the sun went away. Clouds were coming, making the sky darker. Dudley was now looking at Harry. "What are you doing?"
"I'm not doing anything," he replied. The sky was getting darker by the minute. That was when we thought it was a smart idea to run, and we did.
We just made a run for it. We had no idea where we were going. It started to rain, so we ran under a bridge. The three of us were wet and cold.
"You okay, Max?"
I nodded. "Yeah, I'm fine. You?"
"Yeah."
The lights started flickering and it was quiet. It was raining hard outside, so there was no point in trying to go back home now. Then it started getting cold.
"I'm cold, Harry," I whispered.
"Don't worry. We'll get back home soon."
"No. I mean, I'm getting cold."
Harry still had no idea what I was talking about. Until a Dementor came and grabbed me by the neck. Another one came and grabbed Harry.
"Dudley, run," Harry managed to say.
He ran but then he slipped and fell and another Dementor came and began sucking his soul. They were sucking out our souls. It was like I couldn't breathe anymore. I managed to grab my wand from my pocket and punch the Dementor away. Harry did the same as well.
"Expecto Patronum!" we shouted at the same time, making the Dementors go away.
Harry moved his wand towards the other Dementor that was sucking out Dudley's soul. Dudley was on the ground and he didn't move. We ran up to him and tried to help him. A woman was behind us and we turned around to see who it was.
"Mrs. Figg," Harry said.
"Don't put away your wand, Harry. They might come back," she said, pointing at his wand that he tried to hide.
We picked Dudley up and carried him all the way back to his house. Mrs. Figg walked with us as well.
"Dementors in Little Whinging, whatever next? Whole world's gone topsy-turvy!" Mrs. Figg exclaimed.
"But how do you--"
"Dumbledore asked me to keep an eye on you."
"You know Dumbledore?" I asked.
She nodded. "After You-Know-Who killed that poor Diggory boy last year, did you expect him to let you go wandering around on your own? Good Lord, you two. They told me you were intelligent. Now get inside and stay there. Expect someone will be in touch soon. Whatever happens, don't leave the house."
We went inside the house, dragging Dudley with us.
Aunt Petunia looked at her son and called her husband in immediately.
"Who did this to you, boy?" Uncle Vernon asked him. Dudley pointed at us. "Happy, are we, now? You've finally done it. You've finally driven him loopy. Not to mention you also brought someone else with you! Who is she?"
Aunt Petunia groaned. "Oh, dear..."
Harry looked at me and then back at him. "Um...did I ever tell you that I had a twin?"
"A twin? There's two of you?!"
"Surprise," I said, waving at my uncle.
"Vernon, dear, we need to have a talk..."
Uncle Vernon was mad now. "I've reached my limit! This is the last time I'm gonna take of you and your nonsense!" Suddenly, an owl flew in with a letter. Oh, great. We were in trouble.
I grabbed the letter from the owl and opened it, letting Harry read over my shoulder:
Dear Harry and Maxine Potter,
The Ministry has received intelligence that at 6:23 this evening, you performed the Patronus Charm in the presence of a Muggle. As clear violation of the Decree for Reasonable Restriction of Underage Sorcery, you two are hereby expelled from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
Hoping you are well,
Mafalda Hopkirk
I dropped the letter and looked at Harry with a worried look.
What? No. Hell no. There was no way that was true. Yes, we used magic in front of a Muggle, but for a good reason. They had no right to take our home away from us. It was the only home we had. Now we had nothing.
"We've been expelled from Hogwarts?" I said out loud. "This can't be happening."
Uncle Vernon had a smirk on his face. "Justice," he said.

Sorry for the wait. I went to a party Saturday night and stayed there until Sunday afternoon. Then I had homework. Lol you know how that goes. So hopefully I'll be able to update more after this week.
